Any teamwork driven CMDRs in Valheim?

Sometimes I have to laugh at myself, at my stubbornness not to read spoilers or even tutorials. So it sometimes happens that I discover even the most banal things only very late. Like, for example, how to mark places on the map. It actually took me until now to find out how to do that, even though it's really simple and pretty standard. But then it feels like a great triumph! And I like an idiot. 😁
Anyway, this will be extremely helpful.
If you die - mark it. You die again you get the old death marker removed and put on the latest spot of passing away. Your markers persist.

I guess there isn't anything new to discover in my starter area. Time to move on, if I want to advance I need to travel and explore now. Fantastic, I wished ED would work this way as well. My too latest acquisitions are a bronze shield on level 2 (so much better than this huge garage door, especially in deep forests) and the bronze pickaxe, also at level 2. With the latter it even looks like I could build tunnels and caves, but didn't found the time to check out yet.

Phone call from my PC doctor: The video card is not broken! Must be something else then. I guess a strange form of BIOS hiccup (dispite the CMOS reset, unless something went wrong with this), since I still had some other trouble when booting (but with video signal at least) but which I could solve. Now I'm confident to give this card another try - which is always a mild drama in my too small (for this card) computer case. Wish me luck...

I got a temporary ban from my free translator software DeepL cause I'm using it too often and they want me to use the Pro version. No way, I'm not going to pay for translations. It's freestyle then from now on or google translate. Any future insults are most likely due to not using a translator. Sorry in advance. 🥴
Have you found the treasures in starter area? Can you enact fast travel? You way want to decide how light to travel if things don't go your way. I lost all the bronze gear once and it was a big hassle to get it back. My recommendation is to always save some for tools. It's them that unlock the progress most sustainably.
Sailing is one of the best things in this game, imo. I love it. Have a hammer on you and some wood. You plonk it down and do repair quickly. A bow for enemies. An axe for enemies and wood. Food, maybe potions for health or antipoison. Is easy to lose track of health during sea voyage so keep fed. Health regen is slow and in enemy lands even more so.

I have not seen any potions yet. Do you really mean... potions? Also, not sure what you mean by "the treasures". Is it something special, beyond the occasional chest in graves and abondoned settlements? I've got a heap of gems and something around 700 gold, mainly from dungeons and trolls. But no trader yet.

Anyway, can't play for a while. Have to wait for the replacement of my broken power adapter. Sorry for my lousy formatting. No practice in phone typing.

I miss Valheim. Badly. 😞
Nothing too special. I guess you found the Dolmen-graves and longboat burial sites in meadows. Yes potions. Can it be you're lousy viking and haven't discovered mead? Use your ears more to find more animals. So far everything has a purpose when in game.

Whenever I get 'events' in my Plains base I tend to wander outside to find a Troll or two fighting with the Lox that graze around my base. Once they're done I head out and scoop up all the goodies from the ex-Trolls. And they're not even tame Lox :)

(Still haven't got around to building walls, the big ditch has kept everything out so far 🤞 )

This is ALL your fault(s).... ...but today I joined the Valheim'ese, which is not a game/style I ever thought I'd particularly enjoy, but... early doors... it's absolutely fabulous, and OMG the (seed) generated map is (bloody) enormous!

Thus far I've done nothing but build a few shacks to respawn in, as I am dying so often, and tried to map the coastline I'm on.... and... have died so often it's not even funny!

Much like Kingdoms and Castles, as an alpha, this is amazing and well worth every penny.

Now, what do I do with feathers......... :)

...You won't see any spoilers from me. If you want the adventure of your life then be a bad Viking and withstand all enchantments and explore this world on your own. 🏹

Thanks  it was a rhetorical question, I'm having great fun finding my own way, and it's great fun to have a game without 'next objective' markers.

Tried out the VR-mod that is available. It is quite good, performance is the major issue, especially in places where you built a lot of stuff.

I wouldn't do anything complex in it, but it is great to just enjoy the scenery or your creations. It gives you a proper sense of scale. Also sailing is even better.

I beat the ugly swamp monster. Ventured into the mountain on my island and set the portal to another to explore on an uncharted island. So far no silvers. But I quite like the mountains. Haven't met any big monsters tho.

Looking at the amount of effort and time it took to get the meagre results from a sunken crypt I can't say it's really worth it. I don't understand why they suddenly block the progress this hard. The game until now was pretty straightforward. I do enjoy shipsailing very much - I just don't want to do it for every piece of iron I want to acquire. And everything costs now double the amount of a resource that is harder to find than anything else.
Having now mined several of these I gotta revise now. Once you find a patch of 2 - 3 crypts you're kinda set. These crypts occasionally spawn iron in chests too so the yield was always quite good. Plonk a portal and do the occasional run in boat. 40 iron plus overweight on inventory or cheesed with cart / crates and it#s not bad of an issue. Unlock long boat 1st and you're good to go.

I'm running a private server, am I right in thinking that when no one's on, things like monster attacks do not occur, but time does pass in game? Like torches and fires will consume materials, plants continue to grow, wood structures degrade?

As far as i know, monsters only do something when there is a player within a certain range.

If it wasn't for that, your server would probably melt your CPU.
