Any teamwork driven CMDRs in Valheim?

I just tried to shoot some fish with my bow. No chance! They act like they're having fun with me. They always seem to know exactly when I've drawn my bow and aim at them. There goes my idea to fish with my bow from my raft. Silly me, I guess. 🥴 At least now I have found out how to handle that raft. Didn't expect it to be so interesting, to be honest. But I also have no experience with sailing at all.

In theory I've heard about parallel misalignment and optical elevation, but don't even know if I have to aim above or below the fish. In reality it's way more complicated of course and need to take distance into account...
You need to buy a fishing rod and bait from the merchant for fishing :)

Yes, the fishing gear is one of the uncraftables that is hard to believe. Same with chains I'm coming to discover. As frustrating as the unplantable carrot seed :D

I went on a quest for the merchant. I was overjoyed to see that little bag icon was not so far away. Not terribly far, like in some unfortunate seeds, but till portal worthy, though.

I heard you can catch with hand but I never managed. Sailing: Wind comes from side and you make best speed. Depends on sail shape really. Just watch the compass there is wind indicator and there is dar and bright zones. The brighter the zone the better the wind to speed conversion. Think about 3 master - if wind comes directly from behind the last sail gets it all and the ones up front go limp so I dont know if the side thing is actually accurate for 1 mast ship, but such is the model in the game.
1st speed does not require any sails, notice the paddle icon, it's viking Muscle Power! Is actually animated.
I have managed to catch fish by hand, mostly in small rivers where they have limited room to run. My mate often jumps off the boat to grab one and is fairly successful at that. The option to grab the fish only comes up briefly so you have to be quick :)

Did not know that, cool.

Help! Anyone had this happen? I went into the swamp in order to get some iron for the first time. The little guy has all levelled up bronze armour and weapons and of course the all important Swamp key. Dispatches a few of the locals and finds a crypt. I make my way through the gate and begin swinging away with the pickaxe, picking up bits of iron ore. So my little Viking friend gets through a few of the blockages no problem. Hearing noises coming from behind the next one, I get prepared for the next fight. Breaks though with the pickaxe and all hell breaks loose! Blobs, skeletons, draugr, a draugr elite....Anyway I died. Not a problem, I shall respawn in nearby Swamp Castle (good name huh?:)) and put on my spare troll armour, grab a few weapons and sort them out. Gets back to the crypt and it's locked. I died with the Swamp Key in my back pocket.

So I have to fight the boss again to get another Swamp key. Long story short, does all that, gets back to the crypt, opens it and....It's all changed. The layout is totally different and all the dooways are blocked up again. I can see the marker showing where my body is but I can't get to it. I have now cleared out the entire crypt and none of it goes near my final resting place.

So has this happend to anyone else?

No every dungeon was persistent for me. Yellow shrooms respawn tho. Are you sure you visited the same one? Once opened the door stays open I think.

Yes it was the same one. I had built a little bedsit above it with an nice fire so I could wait for morning after leaving the crypt and not have to get into loads of fights trying to get out of the swamp at night. I guess it is just a bug. Early access and all that. It took me hours to get the swamp key again. Gathering resources is so bleeding time consuming.

My guess it is the wrong crypt as already mentioned once the door is unlocked it stays open. I have found the corpse markers to be a bit misleading when they are underground. The best strategy so far is to only mine away one side of the blockage, that way they cannot get out but you can shoot in.

Strangely I got two swamp keys when we killed the boss as a duo.

See my previous post about my building on top of it. I have a workbench right outside the door to stop mobs from spawning. Luckily I have grabbed enough iron ore to start to upgrade my stuff now. It's a tough life being a Viking. ;)

Regarding the carrots and how to plant them, looks like I had the right idea. After I tried to alter the ground with the hoe - which didn't work - I thought there's probably another tool required. Logically it would be a rake. I carefully googeld for it and immediately found a few entries. I haven't read up on how to unlock it though, as I don't want to use spoilers. Time will tell, the carrots can wait for now...
The upgrades are quite a mystery in this game aren't they?

my first fish I got after a storm, it was washed ashore and I just had to pick it up. not a reliable way to get fish though. I caught a few with the hand, when you stand still they get closer. I also bought the fishing rod and caught a few fish that way, but I usually am way to busy with building something to have time for fishing.

Find new ingredients and new recipes unlock.

haha me too, I needed a break after getting into the iron age. I took a beating. Perhaps that was my digital punishment for scummin. It's bad. My gamer soul needs a respite. I haven't even picked up ED again

And yes, I saw a fish on the beach once. Once. And you can catch them by hand? Why not.

This game is a trip.

Sailed to the North today, encountered the Northern Edge of the world and set up a portal in the Deep North amidst icebergs and pack ice. Got killed when I hit a rock near some plains shore just next to a fuling village. A 2 star fuling with a few spear chuckers as support was my undoing, and I had to sail back with another ship to get my stuff back.

Molder died yesterday. We brought our best gear (Wolf Armor, Draugr Fang, Poison & Needle Arrows), food (Serpent Stew, Lox Meat and Sausages) and mead (Stamina & Healing), and thought ourselves prepared - no spoilers read, so a bit of guesswork included. Well, we won, so the result would indicate we were, but it definitely didn't feel like it.
Its first attack took me from 215 health to low 20s (might have been a bit more, I just saw the bar drop to nearly nothing), making it very clear to dodge his cold spikes. They leave (destructable) crystals on the ground where they hit (and holes in rocks, and fallen trees), making the terrain suddenly quite busy and dodging harder. I never got around to try to harpoon it, but after a while it landed and attacked in melee and with a breath weapon - one of us three tried to block it with his silver shield, he still took damage, but it was survivable. Melee worked there, and after a while Molder took to the air again, repeating the cycle.

In the end I used up 50 poison arrows, 50 needle arrows, 2 medium stamina and 1 medium health mead, similar for the other two. We gained (apart from its trophy, that looks gorgeus) dragon tears, that allow us to build an artisan table leading to windmills, spinning wheels and a blast furnace. Barley, Flax, Black Metal and Flametal are processed and the first few items were crafted
After this I decided it was time to take apart our Nexus, our portal tower, to build a new, bigger one - the old one could only hold 21 portals and it was already full. Deconstruction was completed, but the new Tower has to wait, all portals are now somewhere in the base.

I've died 3 times now (after starting over) and I have to say, these "death runs" to get my stuff back are one of the most exciting experiences I've ever had in games. All 3 times happened in or on the outskirts of a black forest area. I'll probably never forget hiding behind a bush in stealth mode, very dense forest, but somehow the grey dwarves must have sensed my presence. The night was pitch black, the forest very dense and only the glowing eyes of the dwarves lurked dangerously close around my hiding place. Needless to say, I was practically naked at this point, and if they had found me, I would have been in big trouble again...

I did get out of the story in one piece, but that was only about half an hour before the experience I had described in my last posting. Guess you understand now.
Yeah, about to do a deathrun as well. Just it's vs the blobmeister and a wraith. I can wait for day though and the wraith might be gone. Only blobmeister. In the swamp. Sitting on all my gear. But I made a portal nearby - for just these cases.
Got him down to half health, stamina was the main issue and overdoing it until night fell. The wraith caught up while I was frantically trying to down an antidote which also had run out because I was like "just one more hit" for blobmeister.
