Any teamwork driven CMDRs in Valheim?

I'm running a private server, am I right in thinking that when no one's on, things like monster attacks do not occur, but time does pass in game? Like torches and fires will consume materials, plants continue to grow, wood structures degrade?
When the server isn't up nothing happens. You have to run the server to simulate. If it runs, I guess the time runs too. Events occur only with players. Spawns alos occur only with players.

Just took my first long sea trip. Set foot on virgin soil in a meadow, and, well something big emerged from the nearby swamp, fired an arrow/bolt/dunno, and I died, respawning some way away with basically nothing and no easy way to get back to either where I died or the place I launched from. Oh. Oh dear.

Maybe try to keep spare sets of Troll gear dotted about the map so you can always sneak in and get your stuff back. I spend ages making bases all over the place because there is no rush for me to beat the next boss.

I'm sort of doing that, alas, this was my first real foray across a large expanse of ocean, and slept in a temporary camp I'd set up,on another island, so the only way of picking up a decent stash is to sail back to 'base', or sail to where I died. Only this time on a raft, making both reasonably long journeys a bit of a chore. Meh. I also forgot to take my 'build a portal kit' that I'd intended to use when I found a good new place.

So, all in all, it was a bit of a 'fuster cluck'.

Oh I've done the forgot to bring the 'build a portal kit' thing. I actually rage quit because of it a few weeks ago. Deleted my character and started again. Rage quit! I must be younger than I thought I was. ;)

Hah - well done!! I went and did some rage-gardening... ...nuff said right?

...in fairness, those bloody weeds had it coming...

:ROFLMAO:

Reddit has memes about sailing to get your stuff back on a raft.

Fortunately our starter island had every biome on it, so we didn't need to leave except for going after bosses.

Be sure to flush properly

Sounds familiar. Swamp is a nasty hike and landing close will see critters bleed over. Portals really make it easier. And mind your food - it's easy to forget when sailing.

My boat always has the other portal in its hold, and i set it up as soon as i set foot on land.
Plains is difficult, as you're likely to trigger a spawn or two of quick death.
I'm sailing around looking for a leviathan and happened upon Mistlands. Very cool, have to go back to explore.

Just FYI, it seems that the wood, flint and burning arrows all do the exacty same damage to at least a troll, or close enough as makes no real difference.

In other news, I learned from my schoolboy error and entered a new biome (the plains) with a backup set of kit and even a backup boat! And then died. Twice. Once from an arrow of death, and the seond time from another arrow of death... putting me firmly back at square-1... again... oh how I laughed... although Mrs PiLhEaD did mutter 'language' in a vaguely threatening tone of voice... she must have been watching the telly aye... :censored:

Anyhoo, situation all recovered I then 'bumped into' a Deathsquito... and... erm... died... ...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

e. Oh... and for the love all all that's holy, can we PLEASE get a pause button in single player..... (yes yes I know 'server' blah blah blah...)

Let me guess, not on your island where you are set to spawn?

And remember, if you are having real troubles, there is the corpse retrieval group that will help you recover your stuff.

But Agony.....buddy.......that would deny me the 'rage quit / start again' scenario that I love inflicting on myself!
