Oh great, clarifications have been given. How are we supposed to argue with each other now?

No pay to win with FD so #3 is out the window. There many issues with Arx that no one is talking about.
1. Due to the bundle structure, you are actually overpaying for items now. Yes, it's not as bad as the old days but this hasn't be acknowledge.
2. Cosmetics are a big deal to some people. Luckily we are not as immature as the Fortnite community but there are still people who are compulsive buyers that will be basically ripped off by the conversion to Arx
3. Fdev (who are partly owned by the Chinese company Tencent) may start selling items that are not cosmetics. What's stopping them from selling ships or new weapons. Remember Bethesda made the same claim in Fallout 76. Then they started selling QoL improvements. With a shrinking player base, Fdev maybe one bad quarter away from selling Fleet carriers. Why does it matter. It's classic progression as they slowly escalate requirements.
4. There maybe financial issues as well since it maybe harder to cancel credit card purchases. Rather give you your money back they may just give you the equivalent in Arx which is worthless.
5. Earning Arx in game is just a gimmick. In the US the average hourly wage will soon be $15 an HOUR. Arx earning is rough equally to 32 cents a WEEK. Also some dedicated players may "earn" enough to hit the cap. So why is there a cap since items are cosmetics.
Cheers for the update Paige ! o7
People complaining clearly don't play the game lol - How can someone whine about being able to earn FREE ARX / cosmetic by simply playing the game

You are right in #1 .... I bought a whole paint pack for a white ship once.
Because it's a scam. I've listed a couple issues but another big problem is limited time items like Chrome skins or Midnight Black. In fact Fdev has every incentive to release limited time items to force players to overspend on Arx packages.
Fallout 76 introduced Pay2Win within 6 months of the game's release.Fdev can change their minds and there is nothing we can do about it. It happened to Fallout 76.
Two words for you buddy. Halloween and Christmas. That's why ARX is being released now.
Fallout 76 introduced Pay2Win within 6 months of the game's release.
Elite Dangerous released nearly 5 years ago, and Frontier Points were added on console 4 years ago. "No Pay2Win store items" has been stated continually by FDev.
Between next Wednesday (18th September, the Update's launch) and Halloween (31st October) CMDRs have 6 weeks through which they can earn 2400 Arx.Two words for you buddy. Halloween and Christmas. That's why ARX is being released now.
Being worried about unfounded future unknowns isn't healthy. And as I keep saying nothing stops them from changing their mind. Past performance does not predict future outcomes.
ARX PACKS
It seems there has been some confusion regarding the number of ARX in a pack, specifically if that bonus is included in or added to the displayed amount.
The bonus is always added on top of the base ARX in a pack. We've added the Total ARX included in each pack for you here:
- 5000 ARX Pack
- 8,400 ARX Pack (+420 bonus) = 8,820 total ARX
- 16,800 ARX Pack (+900 bonus) = 17,700 total ARX
- 25,500 ARX Pack (+1,300 bonus) = 26,800 total ARX
- 51,000 ARX Pack (+3,000 bonus) = 54,000 total ARX
- 85,000 ARX Pack (+15,000 bonus) = 100,000 total ARX
Quick question @Will Flanagan - would I earn any ARX for spending 2 months driving around a planet in an SRV enjoying the scenery? We don’t want to alter the way you play Elite Dangerous; we’ve looked at common in-game actions across all the main careers or activities (such as Exploration, Trade and Combat) and ensured that those actions provide a number of ARX.
- By simply engaging with those activities, as you would normally (such as exploring a new system, hauling cargo or destroying other ships), you will receive a number of ARX.
- Being in-game but inactive will not reward you with ARX. It isn’t based on time spent in-game, but on the actions you take.
These were £5... According to the PC prices they are no longer £5 in Arx.. as you can not buy these with the £5 Arx bundle... so this is a price increase added for the item that did only cost £5...
PC users should by these NOW if they want them as after Arx change over they will increase in price...

Make some stuff up to argue about. Strawman, false equivalence, ooh look a squirrel!![]()

So what? They could've changed their mind using the old system as well. And as I keep saying nothing stops them from changing their mind. Past performance does not predict future outcomes.
Expecting players to play the game to earn stuff in-game - FDev's entitlement knows no bounds!
