Notice ARX and Frontier Points Conversion

Fallout 76 introduced Pay2Win within 6 months of the game's release.

Elite Dangerous released nearly 5 years ago, and Frontier Points were added on console 4 years ago. "No Pay2Win store items" has been stated continually by FDev.

And as I keep saying nothing stops them from changing their mind. Past performance does not predict future outcomes.

Two words for you buddy. Halloween and Christmas. That's why ARX is being released now.
Between next Wednesday (18th September, the Update's launch) and Halloween (31st October) CMDRs have 6 weeks through which they can earn 2400 Arx.

Between next Wednesday (18th September, the Update's launch) and Christmas (25th December) CMDRs have 14 weeks through which they can earn 5600 Arx.

ARX PACKS

It seems there has been some confusion regarding the number of ARX in a pack, specifically if that bonus is included in or added to the displayed amount.

The bonus is always added on top of the base ARX in a pack. We've added the Total ARX included in each pack for you here:
  • 5000 ARX Pack
  • 8,400 ARX Pack (+420 bonus) = 8,820 total ARX
  • 16,800 ARX Pack (+900 bonus) = 17,700 total ARX
  • 25,500 ARX Pack (+1,300 bonus) = 26,800 total ARX
  • 51,000 ARX Pack (+3,000 bonus) = 54,000 total ARX
  • 85,000 ARX Pack (+15,000 bonus) = 100,000 total ARX

The Bonus ARX for the higher tier purchases, Why not just remove the Bonus label and say 26,800 total ARX or 100,000 total ARX?
Is the Bonus label an attempt to tickle the part of the human brain that thinks £19.99 is a better deal than £20.00? Its an obvious carrot on a stick.
Im sure players of ED will buy as many ARX as they feel they need based upon the items that they have ear marked for their ships in game.

We don’t want to alter the way you play Elite Dangerous; we’ve looked at common in-game actions across all the main careers or activities (such as Exploration, Trade and Combat) and ensured that those actions provide a number of ARX.
  • By simply engaging with those activities, as you would normally (such as exploring a new system, hauling cargo or destroying other ships), you will receive a number of ARX.
  • Being in-game but inactive will not reward you with ARX. It isn’t based on time spent in-game, but on the actions you take.
Quick question @Will Flanagan - would I earn any ARX for spending 2 months driving around a planet in an SRV enjoying the scenery?

I don't especially care if I don't ... just curious.

These were £5... According to the PC prices they are no longer £5 in Arx.. as you can not buy these with the £5 Arx bundle... so this is a price increase added for the item that did only cost £5...
PC users should by these NOW if they want them as after Arx change over they will increase in price...

Way ahead of you on that.

See post above yours. :ROFLMAO:
Make some stuff up to argue about. Strawman, false equivalence, ooh look a squirrel!:ROFLMAO:

There many issues with Arx that no one is talking about.

1. Due to the bundle structure, you are actually overpaying for items now. Yes, it's not as bad as the old days but this hasn't be acknowledge.

2. Cosmetics are a big deal to some people. Luckily we are not as immature as the Fortnite community but there are still people who are compulsive buyers that will be basically ripped off by the conversion to Arx

3. Fdev (who are partly owned by the Chinese company Tencent) may start selling items that are not cosmetics. What's stopping them from selling ships or new weapons. Remember Bethesda made the same claim in Fallout 76. Then they started selling QoL improvements. With a shrinking player base, Fdev maybe one bad quarter away from selling Fleet carriers. Why does it matter. It's classic progression as they slowly escalate requirements.

4. There maybe financial issues as well since it maybe harder to cancel credit card purchases. Rather give you your money back they may just give you the equivalent in Arx which is worthless.

5. Earning Arx in game is just a gimmick. In the US the average hourly wage will soon be $15 an HOUR. Arx earning is rough equally to 32 cents a WEEK. Also some dedicated players may "earn" enough to hit the cap. So why is there a cap since items are cosmetics.

Regarding #2 - its not like its impossible for people obsessed with cosmetics to bulk buy now - just add to cart and hit purchase

#3 - highly unlikely, and I imagine Bethesda always had intentions of adding none cosmetics to FO76 - just have to look at the prices for just a set of Power armour skins to show how much they are happy to rip people off.

#4 - A lot of digital sales for games nowadays have you waive your right to refunds on digital content that you can use straight away -

The bonus nonsense allows them to give us more Sex on special occasions without changing the base price.

Couldnt they just Lower the ARX amount in game?
620 for one Ship paint is now 400 for 3 days.

One gets players spending what they already have, while the other encourages players to buy more.🤔

So you think its an improvement then ?.

2. Cosmetics are a big deal to some people. Luckily we are not as immature as the Fortnite community but there are still people who are compulsive buyers that will be basically ripped off by the conversion to Arx

As a non-cosmetics buyer I think its nice of those people to fund the game for me.

Speculative doom.

Wildly speculative DDDOOOOOOOMMM !

Are you genuinely angry the video game pays less than a job ?.

OK, I wrote a spreadsheet. This is based on the 12 Arx that was earned in 34 minutes in the livestream, making it 18 Arx per hour.

A basic paint job is now 50p (£3 for a set of 6) it becomes 49p (in the £3.99 bundle) down to 36p (in the £49.99 bundle). I haven't checked any others.
  1. Decal @ 50: either play for 2hrs and 40 minutes or pay £2.99 and have £2.96 (4940 Arx) sitting in FDev's servers for your next purchase
  2. Decal @ 150: play for over 8 hours or pay £2.99 and save up £2.90 (4850 Arx)
  3. SRV/Fighter Paint @ 460: play for over 25 hours or pay £2.99 and save up £2.71 (4540 Arx)
  4. Ship Paint @ 620: play for over 34 hours or pay £2.99 and save up £2.62 (4380 Arx)
  5. Bobblehead @ 2450: play for over 136 hours or pay £2.99 and save up £1.52 (2550 Arx)
  6. SRV/Fighter Paint @ 3280: play for over 182 hours or pay £2.99 and save up £1.03 (1720 Arx)
  7. Ship Paint @ 5520: Pay £2.99 and play for over 28 hours or pay £4.99 and save up £1.87 (3300)
  8. Bobblehead @ 6450: Pay £2.99 and play for over 80 hours or pay £4.99 and save up £1.34 (2370 Arx)
  9. COVAS @ 8850: Pay £4.99 and play for 1 hour 40 minutes, or pay £2.99+£2.99 and save up £0.65 (1150 Arx)
  10. Ship kit @ 11750: Pay £4.99 and play over 162 hours or pay £2.99+£4.99 and save up £1.17 (2070 Arx)
  11. Ship kit @ 13520: Pay £4.99 and play for over 261 hours, or pay £2.99+£4.99 and save up £0.17 (300 Arx)
The whole point of an in-game currency is to allow us to make small purchases out of a single credit card transaction, so items 1-6 are unavoidable.

COVAS effectively becomes £1 cheaper and decals become free in small quantities.

It would be nice to have an option between £2.99 and £4.99; that's a lot of game-time if you don't want to sit on your Arx.

Edit: it's never a good idea to buy £9.99 for a single purchase.
Edit 2: gross error in bundle prices, but doesn't affect anything but the price saved.
