Very interesting Performance test of AMD vs Nvidia cards:
AMD is a clear winner.
To me, they're too very different types of games, and delivering very different promises.
Just because they're both 'space games' you shouldn't be 1:1 comparing them.
Turns out it is playable with a decent frame rate at slightly below minimum spec, and actually looks OK. It does dynamically drop the resolution in busy areas though, but that's preferable to lag I guessI'm preloading now, My PC is actually slightly below min spec though, I might need to spend money if it's unplayable

Well, seem that both you and the reviewer missed the Memo:
SF is an AMD sponsored title and Bethesda had AMD engineers heavily invested in optimizing the code to run as good as possible on AMD (given the fact that it's supposed to run decent enough on XBox Series S)
Those AMD heavy optimizations seem to actually really hurt Nvidia cards
Definitely not a day one purchase, looks like I'm waiting for it to hit the bargain bin.
I had at first a schadenfreudige expression on my face but I promptly wiped it of by thinking of my potato specs.
My standard experience with Bethesda games and GeForce cards sadly.
My DCS capable gaming laptop did that with Fallout 4 when I installed it last week!
Heh, well, so far, even on low, it looks pretty good. But that's in the caves and the character creator. Will have to see what happens when i get to New Atlantis.
However, probably going to be stuck on the character creator for a while.
