Soon, soon...

So I have an idea:

Have we gotten more details on what "Colonization" will benefit the commander? So far it's seems it a system of pick a system, and say "come here minor factions and build here" and just get another name labeled on a system (and only 10ly away??)

Do we have our own bases and buildings? Can we design our own living spaces and settlements? Can we create our own mining or agricultural settlements that passively create units of commodities? Can we create manufacturing bases that can create modules? Ships? Not to sound greedy but "what's in it for us"?

Sorry to be a negative Nancy, and i could be missing something, but I'm still not sold on "Colonization".

There is more we don't know than we know, but it is all about fun!

I got all excited for about ten minutes there. Another great idea implemented badly.

I don't want to be 10ly from the Bubble. I can jump that in my fully-kitted-out combat ship. And at 10ly per week it would take something like 20 real years to get to somewhere I might want to settle. Not sure I have 20 years tbh :D

I remain highly cynical. Perhaps I'll be surprised. But ya know. Fool me once...

We'll have to wait until closer to the launch in late February for more information.

10Ly is for now, for start, noone said it is what we will have forever.

What did PP2 give us? (I already had the modules except for the new gun)

If you do it ONLY for modlues, than you are not the targert of this feature.

We will only know how well it has been implemented after it has launched.

Which is why everybody is paying attention to the word ‘initially’ with regard to the range, that said settle might not be the right term.

That's not the point. People get confused and call THIS their system, their bases, etc. I think that's a mistake.
When you open a system or set foot on a planet, is it your planet? There's a marker there - the first step.

I think it will be the same here, you colonize the system for humanity, PP, etc., there will be a mark - who is the architect and that's it. All those stations, bases, etc. won't be yours!

People should listen more in my opinion.... literally they said, you will be an system architect... architect, not owner.
But it is nothing new that people are more into own ideas...

Anyway, it is always the game... you can call that base as "your base". Elite has big potential if you want to do some roleplay, storytelling. All you need is to use imagination.

Actually that was my point the poster I was responding to used the term settle which is wrong, when we have finished the new system we can no more settle there than we can settle in Sol or Ix.

There's a bit of a problem here, people make it up for themselves - it's good, but then start voicing their discontent as the game around here doesn't work the way they want it to.
