What?!?!??! No Fleet Carriers in December?!?!?!! Ugh Fdev you can stuff this right up your,..........

Just kidding!!!!!

One if the best decisions you could've made at this time imho.
I already stated that I wouldn't mind if the FCs would be delayed in favour of more bug fixes.
Fdev you just gained a lot of my confidence with this move.

Who said they don't listen? Hmmmm?, ..........err okay I'll get my coat now.

Ugh I'm realy happy about this!

Elite didn't charge people three grand for an internet spaceship.
They didn't me either.... $65 I think I paid.
Personally of all the stuff CIG sell there is 1 thing and 1 thing only which irks me a bit.... The land. Everything else (until I know otherwise) is people choosing to pay money to spoil the game by removing all sense of achievement.

To each their own howdver

Some of the oldest and largest player factions have been aching for both resolution of the numerous game breaking bugs that seem to arise and multiply during major updates and the development of content that provides incentive and excitement for group play. Persistent bugs have plagued pvp and powerplay activities for months or even years at a time. I think that many find the direction taken in the development of fleet carrier as disappointing as the repeated series of delays.

Back in 3303 Fleet Carriers were fantasized about as powerful tools that could be used by factions to influence galactic events or to synergize with the BGS. With the arrival of the squadrons update in late 3304 I think many of us still thought of them as "Squadron Carriers" and hoped that this first concrete link between player groups and their in game systems and assets was the sign of great things to come. Now these ships have been scaled back to portable landing pads centered around individual pilots with the most benefit to be seen only at the level of individual pilot and wing with only a fraction of the potential to engage and employ large groups of experienced players. Now rather than amplifying BGS projects or preparing for the colonization of new worlds we'll have to be satisfied just popping up a new signal source in a system or getting some individual centered buff from an escort ship. A squadron's player base or in game assets no longer seem to have any factor in the situation or any significant benefit from it.

Rather than seeing exciting new escalation of the Thargoid content or more thoughtful integration of player group activities into BGS and galactic events, experienced pilots see things like this:
  • updates introducing yet another new tutorial scenario
  • game breaking update that introduces an undesirable currency system for cosmetics at the expensive of being able to play normally for weeks
  • further scaling back, limitation and delays to the formerly "Squadron" carriers
  • persistent problems with large wing and multi-wing instances with frequent crashes
  • player factions and powerplay factions giving up their efforts under the weight of interference from bots and from the impact of persistent exploits and hacks
  • Certain squadron leaderboards being rendered pointless by exploits and hacks
  • the decline in player and player group driven community goals and other activities

I have been playing since the Xbox beta as have some of my faction members. I will likely always enjoy Elite and continue to support Frontier. However, this September update and the responses to it has cost our team dozens of pilots and the future developments don't to prioritize group play. We will do what we can to keep our own community engaged and enjoying the game in what for most has been an unusually dry season of content and activity.

Sounds like a plan - I was worried the FC intro would introduce more bugs on bugs after the last update anyway.
Getting everything in order before any major new intro seems a very sensible idea now. Yes it would be nice if things were already sorted, but they're not, so let's see if they get there now👍

Gnosis disaster.
Fleet Carriers Ice Planet landings not in update as promised.
Big update promised put back for over a year than promised.
Fleet carriers promised december - aaaaaand not happening again.
Get your act together, what an absolute shambles.
The Gnosis wasn't on FDev; the players did it to themselves. I really enjoyed RPing a rat leaving the sinking ship and running for hyperspace.

lol #rememberthegnosis

  • fixing bug is good
  • release a beta should be ordinary for a honest developer
  • delaying the next major update having an already dying game with no content is a suicide.

Put more money/heads on elite, that's the only way for the game to survive.

I hope that I can keep the spirit alive for the game that I love, but it isn’t getting easier. I still had hopes for new ice planets, and now this. We’ll see.

While i am really eager to see, what is in the pipeline, i welcome the decision to run through bug fixes first. Thank you for the update and keep on going!

Given the state of the September update, if I were in FD's shoes I would ensure that quality takes over quantity and delaying Carriers makes the most logical sense. However , as anyone else here as a player would feel, disappointment would apply that we're only being given lack lustre content that isn't driving much of an incentive to continuously log back into the game.

That being said. It's great that they are prioritizing this and making the necessary sacrifices for a long term investment. But at the same time, I fear that they are presently struggling to mitigate player exhaustion. At the time of writing, the latest Interstellar Initiative is the only thing that stands in terms of changes to the game (even remotely as such ) and this is a cause for concern as there are no changes to the game , even remote things such as small content such as a new ship , new weapons, something for us to play around with isn't in my opinion being looked at.

I applaud the long term intent. But I cannot feel that it is being gratified by what they plan on doing now for the 6 -12 months of testing unless they intent to add surprises. Such as the Orthrus.

Greetings Commanders,

Following the launch of the September Update last month, we’d like to provide you all with an update on our plans for Elite Dangerous.

Firstly, thank you for all of your feedback on the September Update, which you've shared with us on the forums, across social media, on livestreams and through the Issue Tracker. There is no doubt that, in addition to the new features, the September Update introduced a number of issues and bugs which caused a lot of frustration. We are really sorry for these issues. We realise that some of the issues had an impact on your ability to enjoy Elite Dangerous. The team have been working hard to address the most critical issues and have already released a series of patches and updates to bring those fixes in as quickly as possible.

However, we know there's more to be done. You've asked for more focus on existing bug/fixes and issues, and for the community to be better integrated into the development process and testing for these upcoming updates.

In order to improve your overall experience, we have decided to refocus our efforts on addressing key issues and bugs. Since the launch of the September Update, we've been taking a deeper look at our internal development roadmap, the way in which we utilise public betas, and the content of our next updates.

Here is a summary of our plans:
  • From now and into next year (2020), the updates will focus almost exclusively on addressing recent and longstanding issues, including those reported in the Issue Tracker, ultimately making the game better.
  • We are expecting to have a series of these updates, which will be rolled out (approximately) every three to four months.
  • Each update will also include a public beta that will run prior to the update's release, with a dedicated time to address major issues that appear.
  • The first of these updates will have its public beta in December, with an expectation that the launch will be early in 2020.
As a result of our updated plans, we have made the difficult decision to defer the release of Fleet Carriers. We are now planning for Fleet Carriers to be released in an update in the second quarter of 2020, rather than in December 2019 as previously stated. This will grant us additional time to refine the feature as well as focusing time on addressing existing reported issues. It will also ensure the state of the game is in a better position to introduce Fleet Carriers, that will provide Commanders even more opportunities to interact with the Milky Way. We understand that this delay will be disappointing for some players, but do know that this decision is one that we do not take lightly, and is made with the best interests of the community and game at heart.

Ultimately, we are confident that this will improve the Elite Dangerous experience for all our players.

The team have been hard at work on the next major milestone, which you may remember we mentioned back in March as our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update. We appreciate there is a bit of a wait, but we want to make sure it is ready to be shown before making our full official announcement to the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing and continued support and for helping give us the feedback, steer and insight to make decisions that will benefit the entire community and for your continued passion and dedication.

Ok I've got to ask to be disappointed as usual.

Updated Powerplay and possibly new and better missions are something possible before the Fleet Carriers are released?

I honestly care less for some small bugs which are not gamebreaking like fixing skins 90% of the time i dont see anyway, if the game isnt crashing and it can keep up stable gameplay. I find it funny how quickly nongame breaking bugs will get removed compared to bugs that could actually change gameplay on better. If you dont focus fixing those Powerplay bugs like alliance red pointer laser, powers focusing on goverments instead of allegiance, multicrew and wings be allowed to form together i will just say "SHAME !" So now i will watch closely what kinda bugs will get solved tat delayed much needed gameplay-loop that carriers coud bring up.

They don´t like to fix BGS in any player system. It´s been a buggy mess ever since they released it. You are not the only group they enjoy to ignore.
Here is the thing it is an allied player group, my group is doing fine and is growing with minimal effort. We mostly just wait for conflicts and elections to just be won and cooldowns after expansions. So yeah was just raising awareness for their situation.

No.
That is not a bug, it's a feature that comes packaged with kick-starters choice of p2p network and no subscription fees.

Its a pure bug and failure of game design. Dont mistake a lack in design with a result of network model.
Even FDev considered CL as cheating, but stil nothing happened to prevent this cheating.
