I was thinking of just putting Elite's files on the SSD, Windows would be on a separate drive.
I ended up grabbing 2, it can always be repurposed as half of a raid 1 in the server.
Thgought I'd share this with you - just got the premium beta thinking I wouldn't be able to run it on my [now old] rig

.....and its working perfectly at full resolution!! I'm still going to be getting a new system very soon but wondering how the present one will hold up when more features of the game become available in a few days (4 sleeps!!!) :smilie:

Could you give more details concerning "working perfectly" such as graphical settings in general (low, medium, high, max), frame rate (using Fraps) as different people have different definitions of "perfect" - some will say that 30fps is enough others need 60fps. And do you mean 1920x1080 by naming it "full resolution"?

Xfire works great on default settings, currently pushing 200FPS (190+) @ 2048 x 1152 with everything maxxed.

There are FPS drops when there is a planet with rings in the location to about 40fps on GTX Titan at 1920x1080.

As I'l be playing prem beta come friday I've just brought these two items for my gaming pc, having already have 24gb DDR3 mems, i7 cpu, I thought I'd replay just a few main items ...
what you think....

Im guessing that OP meant ddr3 ram...
The psu is a great investment but, given what you would be paying for 1000W, and if determined to upgrade the gpu at this time, I would spend the £40 extra and go for a gtx 770 rather than a 760.
May I ask why you are going for so much wattage if only running a single mid-range gpu?

with every thing else i have running from my pc I needed some thing with a little more power....
And thanx for telling me bout the gfx NOW !!! after I've brought... just going off to see if i can up graded to the 770.

What res do you game at?
The 280x is £189.99 with 3 free games and has the same performance?
Also you dont need a 1000watt psu if your not sli or crossfire, a 750/850 would be fine.

the reason I didn't get the 770 is because they didn't have the 770 in the manufactors make.. that I saw..

the res is 4096x2160 ive just been onto their website for all the latest info, i like it and it will do me for a few years...

do you actually intend to game at that res? if so 1 card aint gonna cut it.
I know thats the max res of the card same as the Amd variant i posted above with 3 free games.
I like Nvidia cards Ive got Asus gfx, motherboard and Corsair psu and mem atm in my systems they work well together NEVER had any problems so ive kept to what I know and what works...
Nvidia seems more stable driver and heat wise (IMO) but AMD do seem to offer more bang per buck. If it were me i would spend slightly less on the PSU and buy an Nvidia 780 if you have the pennies, and if not and its for ED you could wait and save some more just my opinion of course.
I currently have a 780TI and an I7 4770K ocd to 4.5ghz and 16gb ram (not really needed), Gigabyte Z87X-OC mobo and an Asus Xonar DGX, this performs very well with ED and other titles, Just saved up and bought what i could at that point.

I have no idea what the frame rate is, though seems smooth - but all graphics settings are on high and its on 1920x1080.
Thats what I was thinking. I currently have an 850w gold supporting crossfire hd 7870s, an overclocked i5 3570, 3x hdd, BD, 6 fans (plus a modular fan controller) and still have wattage to spare
Mind, that 1000w psu was a good purchase at £130!
