[DW2] Distant Worlds 2 - A Journey of Discovery

Ready to intake a whole bunch of new wonderful memories.

Heres one of my favourites from DWE:

Haha! CMDR Krollin going 'boom!' at Drake's Ridge! Oh man, those were the days, my friend.

Do you remember the Drake's Ridge SRV race?

Once again the flame of light travels to the dark far end of the Milky Way

OK, technically I signed in the moment I heared of DWE 2. But actually I never signed out after the first expedition. Proud to join the ranks again together with the other Rock Rat.

What a magnificent post title. Do you want my job? I need a break!

... There's a number of us potential DW2ers waiting to see if the SRV bug is fixed. ...
I left on the BPE expedition with two SRVs and returned with both of them.
I used premium repair on both and just didn't do anything stupid with them. That's not true actually, I did take a few risks from time to time because I had a spare, I just kept an eye on the damage and repaired before it became critical.

We did lose a lot of SRVs on the expedition, but in 90% of those cases it was because someone was deliberately doing something risky like jumping off a cliff or crashing into things.
People say that SRVs take more damage when there are a number of SRVs in close proximity, but I have never seen any empirical evidence to support this theory.

At long last, we have details. I just suicided to get out M67 after my nostalgia trip there, now time to stock up on every conceivable material I will need. Mostly an explorer, emergency fuel ratter, and very amateur photographer.
USS Eclipse NX 1887 will be ready within the week. See you out in the black, commanders.

Trust me when i say that the bug is still there. I lost 4 SRVs during DECE and all of them because of the "excessive damage bug". Three of those i got back by contacting the Fdev support magicians, but at the fourth time they wanted video evidence..
And at least in two cases i thought i was smart and put premium hull fot meetups, but even with that i had 60-80% hull left when i went boom from small bump or hit.
One could ask why i didn't have my recorder on when i knew about the bug. I blame my goldfish memory. I really have to learn how to use Shadowplay's Instant Replay recording.

The bug is definitely there and i doubt it will get repaired ever.

That SRV bug was mitigated during DW1. First by indeed FD showing they have great support people (way above average quality). Second by reducing damage taken so people do not insta-blow. They already said back then it can't be fully fixed so no need to be cynical about it. In fact, that bug is a bit of nostalgia. Awesome funz we had 😄

A bit of rock rat nostalgia from DW1... ;)

Drake Ridge WP5, Fire Flies and our mentor Akira

Our beloved CMDR Frawd Digger, the first Sidewinder to cross the Abyss by scooping jumponium from the ground

And this one came from CMDR Anuranium, a trailer he made as rock rats just starting on their voyage. I loved the intro music as well an you can see CMDR Domaq flying over us with his conda and the Lagoon Nebula behind him.

And finally The Gift, this vid was made a year ago, we returned to that system in honour of the 68 landables we prospected in a couple of days, that system holds special meaning to us and I'll personally visit it again for sure

Ahh I forgot about that one: i'm talking about the known bug where the game crashes (blue screens) if there are 3+ SRVs in an instance. Effects console peasants on all platforms.

It means any kind of large socialising on the surface is impossible :(

After doing a bit of solo exploring, I cut my teeth proper on the Beagle Point Expedition earlier this year. That's given me the bug, so I am really looking forward to the Distant Worlds 2 Expedition. Some of these Fleet Auxiliary roles sound great with some real feeling of purpose behind them...so that's what I'm putting my name down for! Looking forward to seeing some of the old BPE guys and gals there, and to meeting lots of new folks!!
