I think that's the things primary function, it's not really a VR headset to compete with the rift, but a portable personal "big-screen".I just read about Sony's $1000 version.

One thing that is interesting is that it could give you a cinema experience right there at home. You just watch a film on DVD/blu ray and you get the experience that you are sitting in a room with a GIANT cinemascreen.

Their 750inch screen at 65 feet (units!) comes out as 51 degrees (diagonal?) FOV - less than half of the Rifts, and any tracking would appear to be gyro only. Insufficient for real VR.
...And treat yourself to a new flat screen telly in the sales!
