Every Build I Create Has Auto Dock

My 2 cents worth, auto dock and sca both irritated me so much I stopped equipping them and seeing the sca whenever I get a new ship. The auto dock is more likely to fly you into things than you are and sca is stupid, in 3307 an autopilot should be smart enough to not fly into walls or at least be able to navigate around any body that is obscuring your target.
Nothing against any Cmdr that uses them, I just find them extremely aggravating.

Bill Adama doesn't approve.

But, yeah.
I have an ADC in all my cargo ships and all my unweildy ships cos, frankly, life's too short to be landing a T9 when there's hobnobs to be got out of the cupboard and coffee to be made.

+EDIT+

Having just delivered 45,000t of booze to Rackham's Peak (and transferred something like 22,000t from other FC's to mine), I think I'd be in a loony-bin now if it wasn't for the ADC.

I just Role Play that the ship is controlled by staff in the station / outpost (which explains away ignoring the speed limit) and that my CMDR may not exactly be on the Christmas Card List of many that I encounter...

4 thread discussion for an auto dock.... cant we argue about PVP and gankers?

this is just a class 1 convenience module no harm, no foul in using it or not. the class 1 slot has not the potential to produce a discussion.

should not.

but does.

(but why?)

Saves it being another CM4 / ADS / Open Only etc.

Using it means (to some) that you are utterly clueless, lacking skillz and should be wiped from the face of the galaxy, multiple times, with extreme prejudice...

Roleplay/ON
Actually, using it isn't the problem. It's using the ADC as an excuse to not even bother to learn to dock manually that can get you spat upon by non-pilot starport dwellers. These poor souls rely on 'skilled' pilots being able to rescue them when their station burns and they have to be evacuated.
Don't just sit there in space in the safety of your commander's chair watching the pretty flames. Think of the poor children.
Roleplay/OFF

Seriously, by not learning to dock manually you're denying yourself the rush of flying into burning stations and helping out.

I've noticed that some of the biggest haters of autodocking computers make heavy use of flight assist.
I don't hate autodock and actually have no issue in others using it if that's what they want to do. I just prefer not to use it myself as I enjoy manual landing, especially on outposts. I've been using flight assist a lot recently just because it saves so much time entering signal sources.

Ah, finally, a long-missed DC thread, welcome aboard! In fact, it's the only proper way to land in the 3300s. I have them fitted wherever I can, except some PvP ships which I have to land myself. All upgraded to ADC ofc., even if it's a power hog and has VAX-like dimensions. Think even the Sidey has one. Plus SCA of course, a gift, really. All praise the most useful SCA! 🍺

If you think landing in ED is a skill, show me how you properly handle a CASE 3 crosswinds carrier landing in a DCS F/A-18. That would be skill.

O7,

Please give the Cutter another class 1 optional slot! Because why oh WHY, when flying the top of the line Gutamaya vessel, does one have to choose between supercruise assist and automatic docking?

It's such a waste of a slot and even power grid. I've evolved from thinking people who use auto dock are scrubs to simply not caring to honestly curious why you would waste a valuable slot?

Thank you Sir. The answer is: because I can, and because I'm entitled to fit one. The only excuse would be PvP. After 4k hours, you start valuing time again, over a petty size 1 slot.

Depends on perceived value, possibly? A C1 slot could fit yet another HRP/MRP I guess 🤷‍♂️

Sorry if I offended but I'm honestly curious. Do you play semi afk most of the time? Is it an afk thing or do you sit there and watch the auto dock

Not offended, ofc. I usually sit there and watch things like Galnet or chat with the squad. In VR.

TIL im not a real pilot whatever the hell that means as its a game after all.
Go! Begone! Out of sight of this forum, you slimeball!!!1one11!

Don't you know that if you don't fly FA-Off 24/7/365.25, never use any assists and dare to not add a reinforcement module to every available slot, you ain't no-one?

Well given im being judged by random strangers on a internet discussion board im sure i'll cope with them judging me based on the fact I don't play the game the way they do.
