If I remember correctly, it already worked pretty good in the Demo Version of Prehistoric Kingdom, so it will probably work really well when it comes to the full Game. One thing I'd love to see is proper ontogeny. Hell, if the game itself is delayed for a year or two for this feature, that'd be fine.
First, I'd have 5 main growth stages
Baby (smaller than juvenile, mammals nurse, and stays real close depending on the species (apes, anteaters, and sloth bears cling onto mama))
Juvenile (still small and cute but growing and more independent/stroppy)
Adolescent (awkward teenage phrase. For males, this is when the secondary sexual characteristic like manes and horns come in)
Adult (your basic adults)
Elder (adults but more advanced age. Darker manes in lions, some animals get more scars and cuts, etc. In terms of gameplay, they're slower, lazier, and more prone to disease)
These would all vary in behavior and looks
Then, if it's possible, I'd like there to be a way for them to have a smooth transition like in this video

Prehistoric Kingdom is also hoping to implement something like this

Also, I think it'd get people more invested in the animalsIf I remember correctly, it already worked pretty good in the Demo Version of Prehistoric Kingdom, so it will probably work really well when it comes to the full Game.
Would definitely love to see something like this coming to a potential Planet Zoo Sequel. It's a bit weird to have a Baby Gorilla for Years![]()
there are actual ambient speakers for birds frogs and I think cicadasHello, I am new here in the forum.
I have not read the complete thread yet, but I agree with a lot the OP wrote.
I just recently bought the game with all its DLCs and since then played "only" for about 150 hours.
There might be some things I missed in the game, that are actually there.
Because I just began playing, I am rather satisfied with the amount of animals it offers and am much more focused on the gameplay side of things.
So these are the things I thought about while playing, that could be added or improved in a sequel:
I might repeat several things others already mentioned, sorry.
Building:
- better pathing and easier plaza building (an obvious one, Planet Coaster 2 hints at improvements there)
- customizable blueprints for tunnels (underwater as well), with walls, beams, lights attached to the walls etc. Width and depth adjustable for rides/boats. It should not mess up the terrain beneath the paths as it does right now.
- doors and windows should be functional and usable by staff/guests (with a hinge system). Doors/windows should be customizable.
- much more and prettier fence variants (e.g. with better visible no climbing structures)
- an "align to terrain" option (not only align to surface), so you can spam grass without stacking it on top of each other accidentally (maybe I missed an option in PZ1)
- placeable audio effects for ambience, like bird chirping, cicadas, frogs calling
- vegetation stamps for different biomes
- stones etc. should only show up in the menu once in each size/shape. With different subcategories/filters you select the type/coloration (desert, tropic, stone, wood, etc.) with the possibility to save and name presets for custom colorations.
- Separate "workshop view" for advanced builders. Seemlessly opened during the game. Construct a structure/building with advanced menus, grid options (circular grid for domes), etc. and incorporate the new building instantly into your zoo
- better river, waterfall pieces (without these borders) and special effects that don't have these visible nobs. Put in an extra view in the management tab where you can see just all the effects in a glowing purple or something, so you can easily find, remove or edit them
- modular and more flexible walkthrough exhibits
- small exhibits should come in a bit more different sizes/shapes suiting the animals in it
- modular aquarium building
Gameplay:
- keepers should carry an "endless extandable ladder" to reach feeding platforms in trees etc. without having to build weird stairs for the staff that don't look good in a habitat. This might be too gamey for some purists. Make it optional.
- let me purchase cubs/young animals in sandbox mode
- egg breeding, nursing cubs
- multi-select tool with filters (pick up only plants, or only stones, etc.)
- better climbing (also an obvious one). This might just be me being a beginner but my lemurs and chimpanzees just glitch around constantly on these beams and trees. It really doesn't look good. I know that this is a rather complex thing for the developers to get right.
- interesting feeders for carnivores (like meat on a cable car that has to be chased and pulled to the ground)
Animals and plants:
- simple; increase plant species and variants for each species
- animals is just a whole nother topic. I agree with the general sentiment:
and a lot more...
- (more) birds; even if it is in walkthrough exhibits (hummingbirds, parrots,...)
- (more) swimming animals, especially fish. Modular aquarium building would be great as I mentioned above
- more small monkeys
- at least some small rodents, marsupials etc. in exhibits
Oh, cool! Thanks for letting me know. I have to check that out.there are actual ambient speakers for birds frogs and I think cicadas
Still annoys me that they haven't added the Loon Calls from the Twilight Pack Scenario. They are already in the Game, so why not just add them?there are actual ambient speakers for birds frogs and I think cicadas
I cannot cosign this any harder. The fact that it isn’t setup this way is genuinely insane. Here’s a mockup of a possible new UI with category organization:

Jsut anote, but last time I tried the heaters / coolers also work in the ground, so you can just sink them to hide them. Make them in a group and only remember where one is placed, themn that will highlight the others if you want to change them. This may be me just being picky but I would like some slight adjustments to the cooler/heaters, and this might not even be so big as to need to be reworked in a whole new game. I would like a larger radius. For my larger savanna habitats having all of these little heaters just looks ugly. I could hide them with rocks/foliage but overall I'd like the option of a larger affected area. The second part of this is when placing, it auto switches to the heat map. The gray on gray makes it hard to see and the full affected area isn't instantaneous, the heat is slowly turned up. So you have to sit and wait to see the full coverage area. The "slowly increase" feature can stay but I'd like to see a solid line (red for heat, blue for cold) that shows you the max radius when placing the unit. That way I can easily tell if I have max coverage or am missing any spots.
Me solving my “climate issues” in Planet Zoo by placing giant heaters so I can have elephants outside year round in Canada.Something regarding the heaters, i think it would be interesting to make the whole season and temperatures affecting animals a little more realistic.
For example if you build a zoo in central europe and want to keep chimps you must provide an indoor area where the animals could spend the winter months, and maybe you get boni for making it accessable to guest.
In general i think it would be cool to actually give meaning to the climate parameters of your zoo having to provide indoor areas for animals that cant be outdoors year round or have to be indoors fulltime instead of just spaming heaters to keep a caiman outdoors in a taiga setting. Would certainly give depth to the management and strategy aspect of the game
Although i guess that would making more tropical zoos kinda over powered because you dont have to worry about that for the majority of animals.

For Planet Zoo 2 I'd rather wish we could get rid of rather unrealistic needs that zoos IRL do not fullfill. They do not melt the snow away, animals are just outside in the snow or in an indoor area. They also don't need a specific amount of grass or all the savannah habitats where grass is completly trampled would not exist.
Also: I need more terrain options. Give me every terrain color from every biome for every zoo, please.
They get so close to actually having a meaningful seasons system except it lasts basically no time and the fact that snow alters the terrain means that half the animals have to have their whole habitat heated not just the indoor setting the will use while its snowing.Something regarding the heaters, i think it would be interesting to make the whole season and temperatures affecting animals a little more realistic.

Agreedflying birds, fully aquatic animals, remakes of certain animals, as long as there is not a lot of micro management like in JWE2, please no, it's good as it is now. I don't wanna go like; dart the animal with a vet then select a keeper to move the animal.
Overall good optionsI do feel like keeping sandbox as it is, it's good!
The point was to improve on what we have, rather than diminishing it. Sandbox is popular - restricting it further isn't going to be an improvement by any reasonable metric. I also mentioned in one of those posts that players now are still requesting more freeform options in Sandbox Mode, which clearly tells us there are still ways the "everything unlocked" mode can be better. So isn't it more sensible to focus on that, rather than trying to force Sandbox players to play challenge modes they aren't interested in to have a complete experience? But saying "The game is successful as it is" as an argument to not reanalyze what the game should be, is a bit... capitalistic? Rather than the thought process of a passionate developer.
