Congratulations you thought (wrongly of course) that 'systems' can only mean a group of celestial bodies. In this instance, systems means the old ADS/DSS and the new FSS/DSS. Please try again![]()
What?
I didn't expect that level of nonsense.
LOL

BUT, that setting can only be switched while docked at a station.
All of these weird conditions and punishments for using the ADS... its just great. Any suggestion that brings it back is just great with me.

Hate to burst your bubble old man, but StuartGT didn't count all the posts, the information is readily available. On the forum page, just click on the 'number of replies' listed against each thread, a separate window will pop up with that exact information. Guess an apology is in order now huh![]()
Its not meant as punishment. I just want to seperate those two systems very clearly. As much as i am open to compromise, in one thing i will remain adamant. No usage of ADS and FSS at the same time. Not as integrated part, not as seperate part.
Exactly, if someone wants to use the old mechanics (I can't use the most apt word 'system' because it apparently confuses people), fine let them go for it. But if they do they shouldn't have access to any part of the new mechanics.
The lack of reveal part came from picommander and Darkfyre99's comments in another thread (for different reasons not wanting the ADS functionality to be compulsory like the FSS is). Personally I'm happy to use the ADS & FSS functionality as-is (ie full reveal), your suggestion seems more aimed at those that would only use the FSS, or some sort of half-way step if the ADS is not reinstated.
Please do add your comments to the thread though, others may have an opinion on it and this thread might become too derailed to stay open soon.
I went out of the bubble only for two expeditions, one was a rather short one to get a feeling for it and the second one took some time and made me Elite when coming back to my Homebase in Ruganike.
My goal was to find unexplored systems and catalogue them, I never went only for ELW's or WW's, Wolf Rayet's and so on, I tried to catalogue every system I went in, even the utter worthless ones. One I found had over 100 (~120, IIRC) planets , moons and rocks in it, I catalogued them all. Even with the ADS that took me hours.
If you can't use your hands/fingers to their full extent, tuning the radio is pain. Literally!
ADS wasn't, well, at least for me. The radio tuning effectively killed the only thing I really wanted to do in ED, which is exploration.
Well, IMHO if FSS is the solution for the problem I would rather have the problem back, as a solution so to speak. But that's just me, If others like FSS it's fine with me.
…
Instead of wasting time on bringing back bad old mechanics, the new scanner system should be worked at by the devs. E.g. it should not be possible to look at the detailed surface map of a landable planet in the system map before the planed has been probed.
This goes out to all you old school "explorers" who just can't seem to adjust to the new reality that the ADS is gone and never coming back:
I can't shake off the feeling that all the suggestions of "weird conditions and punishments" is just a reflection of the suppressed desire to get the ADS back. [hehe]

Needlessly mean. There are players half way across the galaxy demanding to be teleported back you know that right? And if they move those people its pretty much admitting that the FSS is a game killing pile. Its spoiling peoples fun, why you need to be happy about that?
Fdev is treating people badly.

I was a mixed bag of beeing excited vs. anxious as well before the update. And even if i wouldn't have liked the new system i would have sucked it up and continued, maybe just shortening the route. Asking to be teleported back is quite childish imho. Sorry, but thats my opinion on that topic.
You have mentioned this before, so can you quantify your statement?
You have mentioned this before, so can you quantify your statement? Exactly how many players are demanding to be teleported back, 1, 5, 50, 1000?
On the other hand with a reported 5,000 commanders signed up for DWE, which is more than double the number of participants to the previous one, it could be surmised that more players are embracing the new exploration tools!
