Mercs of Mikunn results after 3 weeks of effort - Also a request for documentation, in game and out

We have learned a lot about the simulation . We know the general goals that work to achieve many states. The feedback of whats happening or just happened is sparse so it can be difficult to be very precise.

Point to a single thread, guide, or wiki that clearly describes the state mechanics in actionable terms, and which describes how to create (or hinder) advancement to even one particular state in actionable terms rather than vague high level descriptions.

The dukes had under pending civil war critical and law party had civil war under pending.

That's unusual, with all of the civil wars I've observed to date there has always been 2 factions with "civil war critical" indicating that civil war can occur in the next few days.

The pending state "civil war" (without the "critical") seems indicates that the state is in a cooldown phase. This applies to all states, which can be very confusing,

e.g. pending "boom" "lockdown" etc. has 2 meanings.
1) a state can occur if player actions relating to a boom continue
2) a state has recently occured and is on cooldown

There is no clear differentiation between these 2 situations, it's like the definition of the word "bow" :)
1) to bend or curve downward; stoop.
2) A bent, curved, or arched object.
etc.

This clearly needs to be changed to avoid confusion.

Anywho, I'm rambling a bit :p
This seems like a bug but without any further input from the dev team and continued confusing pending state displays it's very difficult to figure out how things work! :S :)

Whether it is on cooldown by not having critical is really just a theory. It might not be a bug. Michael stated that critical pending are very likely to occur unless the situation changes. Since we have been waiting for the boom to end hoping for the civil war the influence differential could have changed to cause the civil war to die . Or as some have noticed the civil war was insta resolved and we have to continue working at it.

Yeah its a bit of a shame. I mean we are like 30 people working on this constantly ... and the result after 1.5 months is really disappointing.

Could Michael comment on this? If this is a bug or is it working as intended. Its not like we are a one man armada (Mysteron) who seems to have more influence by himself than us 97 people ...

We never know how many people are working for or against us. We can only see people that are instanced with us and since we are all friending each other it increases the chance we only see each other rather than others. Not to mention anyone in solo or group mode we will never see . Well the stuck queues and mission results being applied to the wrong system definitely shot us in da foot in the beginning.

In pretty much every other online/massive game ever produced until now, the _beta_ community would have sussed out at least the basic mechanics and already have guides/wikis written by the time of release.

Not in ED. The workings of the black box are simply too complex and opaque, and the timescale involved in state changes, and the separation of players into "invisible to each other" instances, all conspire to make reverse engineering the mechanics nigh impossible. Even the vague (and ambiguous) hints that MB has tried to dribble out simply aren't enough.

The end result is that we never know if we're looking at a bug or not. And that is bad design/communication. There needs to be a little more "unveiling" of the black box by FD. It's that simple.

Michael Brookes, if you get a chance to comment on the Mikunn situation it would be greatly appreciated.

Quick summary of situation in HR 7327:
- Dukes of Mikunn were in Boom (~3 weeks), pending Civil War Critical, Boom, and Expansion yesterday
- Law Party of HR 7327 was pending Civil War, Civil Unrest and Lock Down
- Boom ended today
- Law Party held Gabriel Station yesterday and today
- No evidence of a Civil War (conflict zones, nothing in local Galnet)

Questions
- Was there a "flash Civil War" within the last 6 hours that the Dukes of Mikunn lost (so we're in Civil War Cool Down)?
- Did player actions negate the Civil War? In other words, did this work as intended?

Thanks

Dukes are currently recovering from Boom and Expansion.

Dynamic Commodities are trending towards a boom, and recovering from civil unrest and lockdown.

Law party recovering from civil unrest and lockdown

New Future and Silver society are in civil unrest.

It looks like the pending civil war failed and remained as civil unrest for now.

Thanks for the quick response. Any way to determine if what stopped us was player actions against us (missions running influence / assasinations / bounty hunting or trading supporting either Law Party or Dynamic Commodities), or did we just not do enough?

Our working hypothesis was Civil War would be triggered if we got the Dukes to gain enough Influence against another faction. This is a chart showing our Influence difference against Law Party and Dynamic Commodities. We were expecting to go to Civil War against Law Party (they had Civil War Pending on the 29th, same day we went Civil War Critical).

Would you be so kind as to explain the reasons for not triggering it?

We wokred towards this for more than 30 days... a bit explanation would be a nice payslip.

Thanks in advance.

Mysteron himself has said hes the only person working in the system. And I know at least 30 of the 97 playeers I have were active this week.

Dynamic commodities look like they've had some boom activity. Civil unrest and lockdown stats are also increasing.

For the law party I'm seeing some movement on a couple of stats, but nothing major.

May I point out that this confusion is exactly why I created this thread in the first place.

As long as the in-game feedback is insufficient player irritation and confusion will continue. Michael Brookes shouldn't even have to come on here to provide us feedback, there should be clear evidence in game to tell us what happened.

Also one person should not be able to hold us back IMO, but here we are . I'm pretty sure I know what he is doing, but not 100% yet.

Does that seem right that we lost Civil War Critical against Law Party? Still not sure if we did something wrong or not.

BTW: Congrats on the 1.1 release. Too bad I'm at work 10 hours today! (at least I have the forums...)

Civil war didn't trigger its not on cooldown . I assume our lowering influence caused it since civil war is completely influence based.

No - it looks like there was an issue with the Dukes going into civil war, but not against anyone - so it immediately failed and you're in cooldown for civil war.

Could you check on that and maybe restore it? Dont think we could take another 25days on civil-War-Cooldown right now.
