I think it would be better to put a different "warm weather" tiger subspecies, but whichever one Frontier chooses, it should be in the base game.

Yes sorry, is THE tiger prototype even if bengals in captivity are not pure. An iconic species for India.
Would i like the sumatran or amur tigers as well? Sure, but not as important to me as the bengal.
Or maybe we should get: continental tiger for base game with amur vairiation and sumatran tiger in DLC.
But just like with Amur vs African leopard, amur tigers just don't work as stand ins for tropical tigers to me.
Can be left out entirely. It can be swapped out for either the Malayan or Sumatran Tiger, both are more common in captivity and are more important conservation-wise.
I am the number one “if it’s not in zoos it’s kinda dumb” but bengal tigers have been synonymous with zoo games since day one lol, i think they’ve earned their right
Yea this is a weird one, Bengal is by far the most iconic and typical tiger and probably the most famous Indian animal but they also aren't found in zoos. Obviously a tiger is essential, and my favourite subspecies is the Siberian we already have but if we have to have a second I think Sumatran makes more sense... But then just not having that typical Indian tiger would feel odd? Really not sure how to place this one.

I think Bengal tigers are essentials. I really don’t mind getting the Sumatran but IMO bengal tigers are a key species for India more than sumatran ones are for southeast asia.
- Markhor: I kind of expect to see it in any zoo game. Although I kind of hope/expect most if not all of the PZ1 animals will be PZ2 base game, this one could wait for a DLC assuming a roster of fewer than 100 habitat animals, but I do expect to see it in the game.
- Giant Panda: Utterly essential to the base game. It's the icon of the WWF, one of the most famous bears, and China makes up at least a quarter of the playerbase.
- Bengal Tiger: Utterly essential to the base game, probably more so than any other tiger. On this one, I would pay no mind to what the realism folks are saying. A general audience is absolutely going to want/expect white tigers, and a tropical tiger is a basic pick. If they do go into subspecies, I would like to see the Amur and possibly the Sumatran, too, but the Bengal is easily the most essential one.

Also for anyone who hasn't notice in the original post for this thread I have listed the animals we've talked about so far and my own tierlist which I will add to as we discuss each animal!
Yeah. Idk about those specific cathegories but i agree that "essential" should mean that it needs to be in the game but could come in base game or in a DLC, the important thing is that is included somehow.
Tbf something can be essential yet still saved for a DLC. For example someone could say the Capybara is essential but can come in a DLC, therefore it goes in "save for DLC." I personally don't think the categories need changing but I'm willing to be open to change.
