Well not all. The donkey and the pig and even the alpine goat can go and i won't miss them. Just replace the goat breed with another one like a pygmy goat and get rid of the other two and leave their space for other animals.
Yeah the problem i see with that is that thats essentially throwing a perfectly fine animal in the garbage just to replace it with something else you need make from scratch. That just seems idk wastefull and kinda pointless to me? Might aswell throw in the alpine goat instead of throwing it away

Here's my tier list

I mean, if it comes down to "base game" vs "DLC" there's not really much to discuss. IMO either the sum total of the current roster should be in the base game, or at the very least the majority of it, or, if we're willing to accept that some species can be left out and added via DLC again, then we have to accept that any species can fit that criteria. That is to say, if we're willing to leave out, say, the markhor for DLC again, then the same applies to the grizzly bear. One person's "zoo staple" is another person's "nice to have" and another person's "who cares".

Yea imma say most of these should be base game cause it’s a sequel. I say sheep is essential don’t want a whole barnyard dedicated pack again, it looks good and generic for a sheep and domestics are needed

For Planet Zoo 2, I don't they should pull a Jurassic World Evolution 2 and save a selection of animals for DLCs like what they did with the Huayangosaurus putting it in the deluxe edition, and the Dr Wu hybrids being put in a DLC a couple of years later. But something else JWE2 did was keep all previous species, so particularly with this game I think that is something they should do.

Instead I think every species and subspecies should make it in, but spaces in the roster can be saved by introducing a subspecies variant system, classifying animals by their species name, and if there are valid subspecies represented in captivity, then some of those can be implemented.

But to make it an even 190, I would drop one species that being the Titan Beetle, as none exist in any captive representation anywhere, so I think it can be dropped.

Some domestic species could also use this system instead with breeds.

Here's my idea of the returning roster: (I hope I have them all here, if not, let me know please :) )

The animal itself isnt really one i think is essential to have for the game but the sheep is easily one of the best executed animals in the game, so it would be a big shame if they cut it.
So imo its the best approach to just put all the barnyard animals in the basegame instead of doing another pack focused on them. And then just sprinkle some domestics into the DLCs where they fit.
Yes, except if they put the Highland cattle in the sequel I would hope for a completely re-designed model. The current one is meh 😬

Animal #4 - Hill Radnor Sheep
View attachment 405684
Which category does it fit into?
  • Essential for Planet Zoo 2 Base Game
  • Save for PZ2 DLCs/Deluxe
  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure
  • Can be left out entirely
It's not necessary to do this, but it sure is.

I like domestic animals, but I would choose the Somali sheep sooner because it is a domestic breed and it is my favorite sheep and which is found in certain zoos and in addition it can be mixed with Dromedary

Hopefully they will rework the exhibits so they can be converted into aviaries so then they could include so more birds. Things like owls, eagles, falcons and parrots would be nice. Would be great if they could also convert some of the talk points so that they could have falconry displays if the talk is linked with an aviary but I suppose that depends on how much coding that would take.

My placement for the sheep:
I actually (and I know I sound like a broken record) put this in the PZ2 base game. I think that having petting zoos straight off the bat will both make a lot of people happy by not having to wait for a DLC with them and it will be a good selling feature in general. Don’t really care personally about the subspecies, fine with the one we have now, but a more common one could also work.

Also I’ve added the “community consensus” section in the og post like I mentioned yesterday :)

Oooh... it's a tough choice, but personally, I think I wouldn't mind waiting for the Devil as part of a DLC, and that honestly extends to the other Oceania Pack animals too (with the exception of maybe the Kiwi). I dunno why, but they all feel like acceptable "extra" animals to me. But if they do resell an Oceania Pack to us in the sequel, they should probably make it a full animal pack... Also, I would kill for a giant wētā as an exhibit animal in said hypothetical pack.

A sequel needs flying birds, marine animals,( manatee and stingrays etc.) and exhibits for larger animals like king cobra, green anaconda, reticulated python, etc. With some free range animations. Never been a fan of big snakes in open habitats. Absolutely ridiculous they’d escape. Of course regular exhibit animals although dull to most people are pretty explanatory. A demanding game like this unfortunately would be unplayable with everything functional. Besides most reptiles and amphibian are fairly inactive. But imo to be successful these three options are a must.
