Instead of a fuel scoop, get an extra fuel tank and refill at the station.

Or, well, scoop at every star. You'll heat up but not enough to take damage.

Agree, this what I do I like to go under the starpreferably at around half speed keeping just the edge of the star in sight at the top of the screen until I am close to my next waypoint. Most times I am full up by then unless I have come through some non KGB-FOAM systems. If that happens and depending on how low or far I am I will sometimes go around again if no NPC's around.

Hello all,

This is Thresher, my new Python (seen here swooping over Lusardi in the Artuma system - oo-er!).

She's mostly C rated at the moment
, but I'm very, very happy with the weapon layout so far.

Like the Thresher shark of Old Earth, she has a nasty bite, but there is also a deadly sting in the tail. The ammo may expensive, but it certainly is efficient!

Hi CMDRs and proud Python owners.

QUESTION:
Would my Python overheat and get siriously damaged or EVEN EXPLODE if I would use a loadout of 5 x Rail Guns?

Did anyone test such an extreme loadout before. I think it would be a killer set in PvP but it might only work with a bench of Heat Sinks.

I like extreme loadouts and am running very very well with my 5 x Beam Lasers at the moment. They are great for PvE and BH but not ideal for PvP.

I think you sort of answered your own question as to the heat, the other issue is on whether or not it could bring those guns to bare. Against a nimble oponent, good luck. Don't think I'd fear that setup 1v1 in my FAS, for example.

I'll give it a try. Of course it's heat intensive, but a few well placed shots and the opponent gets into trouble.

I guess this video was taken before the change of the heat management. It's not heating up much.

Hey fellow owners, a new member signing in. I love the shape of the Python, so I know I had to get one eventually, which has now happened.

Meet the Warranty Voided (all my ship names start with a "W" because reasons):

I am always thrown by the size of these ships and the Python is definitely bigger than she looks:

I am amazed she fits on a medium pad! As for the heat management discussion: I am using this loadout, and haven't had any real problems with heat while scooping (though I tend to scoop stationary and I only go up to 250 kg/s with this 5C scoop).

I was a little disappointed with handling at first, until I realized that without any pips to the engines, the thrusters might not work that well. So while I now have to do pip-management, she's not shabby in combat at all (though I should note that I do PvE exclusively).

Yes you can equip and fire 5 rail guns. Take some heatsinks though, as you mentioned. 4 Rails with a kinetic weapon works much better.

It's worth trying a fixed class 2 m-cannon in the underside hardpoint in preparation for the class 3 m-cannon release.

I have one rail gun on mine in the right medium slot. It's paired with a large beam on the right (fixed). Works like a lazer site.

I think you would struggle, miss once, you might get another shot before you overheat. A python only has 4 points for heat sinks.

I think you would struggle, if you miss, you might get another shot but you'll need heat sinks. The Python only has 4 mounts for these and it's a trade off with shield boosters for those spaces. I'm running two at the moment with a very heat efficient set-up, I get three shots on the rails before I start to cook.

Hey fellow Python people, can I get a hand here? I just recently upgraded my Asp to a Python. I'm still sort of putting it through the paces and learning the new ship and how it works. However I have had a couple combat experiences with it, and I'm not all that pleased. It seems like I should be able to do much better than I am. I feel like I was able to kill ships faster and easier in my Vulture.

I'm a bit limited in my funds. I know you can make some very very expensive Pythons. I only have about 100 million to my name. This is the current load-out I have. Can someone make some suggestions as to how I could improve my loadout more for CZ and RES combat?

Thank you!

My Python, the Stheno has evolved slowly over time, and now looks like this -

http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/06...5044a322f2iv6.Iw18eQ==.IwBjvYutZD5A?bn=STHENO

I use the pulses to drop shields, and then switch to the burst to put the hurt on. allows me a more judicious use of the power I find, but can still take most things down pretty fast.

As a PVE player this has served me well for a while now, for PVP gaming I would say there are probably much better set ups.

The new bigger multicannons should land soon which will shake the options up a little for the Python.

and now the gratuitous Python photo, in her new tactical ice paintwork - The Stheno:

Thanks for the help! These suggestions helped a lot. I adjusted my loadout to THIS...

I think the upgrade to the 7A Power Distributer helped out a lot, and changing out the Cannon for the third Pulse Laser. Then I switched out the Beam lasers to Multicannons. I'm curious about trying out the turreted lasers in the medium hardpoints at some point, that was an interesting suggestion.

Unfortunately I only have enough credits for 2 deaths in this guy now, so I have to practice and be careful for awhile.
