Spring dlc Speculation 2023

I am thinking of an April 4th release. Frontier has been enjoying their Thursday/Friday announcements so I think March 23rd and 24th is a safe bet.

I think most of us can agree that we want an animal pack, but do you all think will get a scenery pack instead?

Here's a picture from the masterplan pdf :

True that, but so far we've gotten everything. The one I'm looking forward to the most is Madagascar, so I hope that the next phase includes that.
I think a big advantage is that the Houston Zoo is the 2nd most visited zoo in the US (2 million per year and ticket sales and memberships add up) so they probably could have the resources to do it. Will they do it? It's not guaranteed

Wow. My local zoo also had plans to renovate the entire zoo based on biogeographical regions, but it was majorly delayed due to covid. It is now slowly getting underway again.

I thought you were a local 🤣
Yeah hard pass on the downtown aquarium, I've seen the one in Denver and wow it was depressing
I am a local. I think...
No, what I meant was that I could move out of my house and live in the zoo🤣. Hide from guests and keepers by day in the gorilla enclosure, emerge at night to hang out with my jungle friends

I'm still torn on the whether it will be a scenery pack or not. The twilight pack kind of ruined the balance. If we are saying it is the last year of development, I would love every pack this year to be an animal pack however unlikely that would be

Also a question. In the new plan what happens to the Texas wetlands section that currently exists?

And another question, does the Houston zoo have no australian animals at all?

For the first one: the Wetlands is part of the expansion. I believe it's sort of linked to the Children's Zoo Texas expansion. It just came out 2019 along with the Cypress Cafe. We have some whooping cranes, a pair of rescued bald eagles, and a couple of gators. The duck pond that's on the edge of the Cypress Cafe is connected to the water pool for the cranes and the bald eagles. Maybe for the gators as well

For the second one: currently, not that I know of. We used to have koalas many years ago. Replaced by red pandas.
Then we had wombats a couple years ago, saw them once, then they disappeared.
We also used to have a cassowary and kookaburras, but that area was torn down and replaced by the Galapagos

Alright this peaked my interest and decided to check it out. I thought there's no way Houston is more popular than the bronx zoo but hey I'm totally wrong , the bronx comes in at 7th place
  1. Disney animal kingdom - 7.2 million
  2. Busch gardens Tampa - roughly 4 million
  3. San Diego zoo - 3.2 million
  4. St Louis zoo - 3 million
  5. Columbus Zoo - 2.3 million
  6. Houston Zoo - 2.2 million

You proved me wrong though😅...
There was a report that did say it was the 2nd, but that must've changed. Anyways...
Isn't the Disney Kingdom getting a lot of bad rep? Or is that just anti-Disney propaganda, like all those bad stories of Disneyland/Disneyworld and Disney+?

I think it's just the usual anti Disney propaganda, the last thing I heard about the park closing was made by a satire tik tok channel which I guessed fooled too many people. I know the wonderful elephant activists love to hate against the park but they seem to hate Houston even more 🤣 with it being placed the "4th worst zoo in America for elephants"

Oh, ok. Weird. Maybe the Disney one is more vocal because it's a double hate: zoo haters and Disney haters. Disney Zoo haters...

I've been kicking this idea around for a couple days and I'd love to hear people's thoughts on it or what they'd add.

One thing I think the game needs is more educational decorations, maybe skeleton and skull models or even taxidermied specimens. Maybe could call it the education pack? Although feels a bit too similar to the conservation pack. Not sure what animals could be in it either, maybe it would be a good time to mix in some barnyard critters?

Mostly I just can't think if any big scenery sets we need. But as mentioned in an earlier post I think a scenery pack this year will give of a bunch of odds and ends the community will go nuts for.

I agree that more education items are needed, especially museum type items (Frontier, if you're looking for new planet game suggestions I would buy the heck out of Planet Museum and Science Center).

I'm hopeful that we get some kind of children's zoo / education pack that brings us more of these items.

I can't really see any scenery packs left wowing the community especially after the reactions of the twilight pack which like everyone said - was just a planet coaster scenery set. Mentioned here are ideas like farms , Bavarian architecture, old western wooden buildings and Polynesian themes. None of these are truly needed apart from being thematic to desired animals

The education decorations is a great idea though, often guest education stands have animal prints or faux parts of the animal for guests to interact with. Skulls maybe more oriented to museum like displays

Playgrounds, educational items, interactives, and an actual transparent glass path.

Not going to derail or get too off topic, but hopefully just one comment...it's an absolute shame there's not a museum simulator out there, aside from a couple of mobile tap-type games. There was one several years ago that looked like it was going to happen but put on hold.

Agree 1000 times over, Planet Museum would be an insta-buy for me.

It would run into the problem of modern museum controversy like colonialism taking major artifacts from regions

I think everyone would like more scenery which would fit in zoos.

Playgrounds have been mentioned, but there's an obvious abandoned idea we missed.

Back when everyone was expecting a nocturnal pack, there was a lot of talk of nocturnal house scenery, which would focus on new lights and indoor decorations, both basic things we majorly lack in. Instead, we got the ability to make an eastern european gothic castle, which is great, but has very limited use in the context of a zoo.

More focus on indoor scenery, lights, and as people said "museum stuff" would be amazing. Also, more educational stuff, playgrounds and some basic wooden and glass pathes would do wonders for the game.

I think a reptile house pack would work well for that as well as adding a bunch of new faux pieces.

Not necessarily a reptile house, but a "Small Worlds" pack focusing on exhibit animals with only one or two habitat animals could be interesting, especially if the exhibit animals included fish, birds, mole rats or the ever controversial exhibit sloth.

Add in a nul wall update for traditional exhibits and plenty of indoor build pieces and I'd click buy.

(Granted, I'd click buy on zebra subspecies pack so...)
