Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Not necessarily a reptile house, but a "Small Worlds" pack focusing on exhibit animals with only one or two habitat animals could be interesting, especially if the exhibit animals included fish, birds, mole rats or the ever controversial exhibit sloth.

Add in a nul wall update for traditional exhibits and plenty of indoor build pieces and I'd click buy.

(Granted, I'd click buy on zebra subspecies pack so...)
I was more just saying I'd like a reptile house pack that also fills this niche everyone seems to like lol. Would be good way to introduce a River Turtle specifically though.

I think linking the season with the pack theming is pretty hit or miss at this point given we got butterflies for winter.

That said I'm rooting for woodlands/rainforests for the next pack (green! plants! get it?) hopefully with coati, red river hog, howler monkey and ocelot or something along those lines (would love to get a duiker or muntjac too)

Alternatively: birds birds birds birds!

I didn't even notice that past packs were supposed to line up with seasons lol. I'm from Southern hemisphere.

My feeling is that we're going to get a Pet Zoo Pack or Child Zoo Pack. A lot of things make me think this could happen:

  • First, last year, Frontier clearly reinforced the educational dimension of the game, reinforce the visitor experience and strengthen the notion of realism with the Preservation pack.
  • This is a pack that is often discussed by the community as something that would make the game more realistic even though domesticated animals seem less in demand.
  • I think that we can have an Islands Pack in Summer.
Even if the animals that could appear there are not the most requested on the wishlist, I think Frontier can offer a rather fun and varied roster. With a little intelligence, they can indeed offer species that could be just as suitable for a Pet Zoo as for geographical themed areas. We could then have this kind of candidates:

  • Vietnamese Pig
  • Nubian Goat
  • Somalia Wild Ass
  • Highland Catle
  • Helmeted Guineafowl
  • Zebu
  • Alpaga
  • Flanders Giant Rabbit
  • Guinea Pig
  • Swan
  • Bees (in WE will be cool)
  • Chinchillah
etc ...
I think this pack could satisfy if it brings more than animals, but really interesting new game mechanics. That's what I'm betting on.

Here are some ideas:

  • The animators can offer feeding attractions to the guests, not only with animals from the pet zoo but also with certain species already in the game (Giraffes, Capuchins)
  • Creation of either a new, much larger WE, or animals can simply be placed in walkable habitats.
  • Animation of interaction between these animals and visitors (cuddle, feeding, selfie)
  • Added a food dispenser item, which can bring money to the park.
  • Added many new educational items for children.
  • Additions of (free) children's playground items.
  • Addition of a group activity of the "animal caretaker for a day" type, somewhat in the spirit of group visits but with children who could enter the habitats with the staff. Activity widely practiced in European zoos.
  • Added souvenir shops

For me, it's an animal pack with a lot of free items because linked to new general mechanics.

Some animals already present in the game could join the pet zoo areas and would therefore have additional mechanics:

  • Bactrian Camel
  • Lama
  • Red Necked Wallaby
  • Fallow Deer
  • Indian Peafowl
  • Prezwalski Horse

I like this idea! It will cover many forests areas without weather or biome block like tropical, boreal, temperate, etc... I hope the woodland is an animal pack instead a scenario one.
Now thinking, beside a polinesian/island scenary theme, which theme should do frontier?

I don't like the lumping of tropical rainforests with temperate forests. I think both deserve their own dedicated pack.

A lot of people have suggested a Western theme, and I could kinda see it. Or, instead of a Western theme, a farm/ranch theme.
We could have lassos, boleadoras, wagon wheels, etc.

With so many wild animals still requested, and the likely option of birds on the table, I'd be extremely dissapointed with a petting zoo pack this year, and likely in general.

There are mods for domestics and a thousand farm simulators out there, but only one good zoo simulator.

Im honest frontier could hit us with any scenery theme they want and it propaply be dope. Looking back at the scenery themes, the piece quality has only gotten better over time and the conservation and twillight pack have added some of my favorite pieces to the game so far. I cannot understate my love for these two scenery themes, as the first got so much usefull random stuff to throw around back stage areas and gorgeous plants and wood pieces, while the latter has great wood, stone and added nicly to our european foliage selection, with the door and chain pieces being particular favorites of mine. Id say im building rather unthemed grounded zoos and i made good use of both packs so im all open for more scenery packs and themes. For things i would want, id be most interested in an education themed set with many single props like the conservation set providing educational items to build nicer viewing areas and custom signs, with a canid, suid, bear, crocodile and panthera skull, aswell as a tortoise shell being at the top of my list of concrete things i want.
Another thing id love would be a cabin theme. Horizontal log walls would be amazing and are quite common in both low and high theme areas, but my real desire are hunting and poaching related pieces, like deer antler, bear traps, animal furs, rusty cages, etc as from my experience quite a few zoos also offer education about poaching, both in the distant past and the present and id love to replicate that in planet zoo, so while a poaching theme might sound weird id be all for it

I agree, but as some whose graphics card can't do mods, it's annoying that we don't have goats. I would cringe if a chunk of potentially our last animals were all domestic livestock, so I guess I'd rather live without. I mean if Frontier wants to add Nigerian dwarf goats as the anniversary animal and we got feeding interactions......

That would be an amazing anniversary animal actually

Aren't y'all forgetting that we have 4 DLC left, plus the 4th anniversary? 1 pack out of 4 shouldn't be an issue if we get a petting zoo DLC, especially if, instead of going with entirely domestic animals they choose wild animals that can be domesticated and/or wild animals that are relatively docile.
If it's a standard DLC, which would be best, we'd only have 5 slots for them. That still leaves at least 22 more slots (8+8+5+1).

In my opinion, if we have just 1 petting/children's zoo DLC, I'm sure that the requests for this kind of pack will die down and we'll get "proper" zoo animals afterwards

Of the 23 habitat slots left, I really wouldn't want to lose 4 to domestics.

If it were 2 years left with 8 packs, then maybe.

Understandable. I think, though, that if they were to choose different animals that aren't strictly domestic it'd be popular.

Like, domestic chickens? I wouldn't mind but others would. But what if we got the wild counterpart: red junglefowl?
Or horses? Domestic donkey? I actually would like for the sake of having a worldwide animal and also for Mexico, too. But people wouldn't like that, so maybe a Somali donkey instead.
Dromedary camel would actually be amazing for this pack, though...

So, it doesn't necessarily need to be domestic animals. Like I had stated, it can be wild animals that are easily tamed and/or wild animals that aren't particularly aggressive...

Im honest while i agree with the sentiment that loosing 4 slots isnt an issue, id actually want those slots to go to domestics. I dont want an half baked "heres a somali wild donkey, that should make the petting zoo lovers happy right?" i just want a domestic donkey.
Overall imo it be at this point smarter to make a childrens zoo pack thats basicly 2 domestics + a monkey and some small popular animal like the porcupine and 1 or 2 more domestics in other packs like a shetland pony for islands or a dromedary in deserts. If we get a domestic goat and equine, aswell as some generic water fowl and either some kind of bunny or guinea pig, that be enough for a start, IF we start seeing more domestics in general. Less cowardice wild water buffalos frontier, just give us the real deal with some nice domestics and we will be fine.
Currently we got 2 domestic camels and one fake buffalo, thats it. 2-4 for really isnt to much to ask imo

I really doubt we will get domestic animals, that would reduce more options for other zoo animals. I dont mind some domesticated ones like dromedary camel.

Absolutely. Getting a Grasslands pack in December is not something I would have ever expected. I expected we'd get it at some point, probably June, but truthfully it wouldn't have been completely at odd with the season in the Spring or Fall release either. But Winter? Nah...never crossed my mind. So yeah, any type of pack could come at any point in the seasons.
