Spring dlc Speculation 2023

The other day talking with Narwhaler, he said something right, the game and zoos are focused in conservation. Farms are not in the conservation side. Also like you guys said, people would be mad for a simple goat, people though przewalski horse was just a mere horse, when its different.
About dlc release...remember frontier usually releases the dlc the same week easter. Between 28 march and 4th april we will know something.
I wouldn't be upset with a simple goat. They seem to always have simple goats ta petting zoos where I live. So you can't just assume everyone has the same opion as you.

Islands pack just to spite everyone 🤣
Agreed on that. To me islands sounds dumb. It's as if someone was like "look the new packs have lands in the name, but what about I-lands, haha get it." While I'd like the animal choices in it I think a seaside or Coastal/pack and rainforest pack could bring most of these animals into the game.

Also on pretty much every other kind of social media the only people suggesting Islands are people from the forums. Majority of people everywhere else seem to really like rainforest.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I think having a DLC where we get like 50 new exhibit box animals would really be great, these have gotten left behind and we really should have way more than we have currently. Maybe distribute it like this?
  • 10 Lizards
  • 10 Snakes
  • 5 Turtles
  • 7 Frogs
  • 3 Salamanders
  • 10 Invertebrates
  • 5 Small Mammals
After that we could honestly just be fine with having no more after this for food. Just give us a massive boost as well as different sized exhibit boxes alongside it and the rest of the DLC can make use of walkthroughs.
I would be super happy with this ! But I don't think it will ever happen sadly...

Maybe a different question: Which of the common DLC ideas flowing around would you like to see the least for the next Pack and why?
Im fine with literally any pack that isnt exhibit only.
For the commonly discussed ones, i think all of them would have the potential to bring great animals and building pieces to the game, with any thing that includes a bird, a reptile, a domestic and/or a primate would be amazing, what a surprise that my most wanted pack would be a children zoo pack featuring a monkey, 1 or 2 domestics, a tortoise and a WE bird.

That’s a tough one. I guess the petting zoo/farmlands one. Even though it’s in many zoos and would be a realistic choice, it’s the theme that any of my big wants would be least likely to show up. Scenery and building pieces are great but ultimately the game is about the animals, for me anyways

Islands was a pack idea long before the “lands hypothesis” appeared. What’s so dumb about it? It’s a way of getting all sorts of highly requested animals in the game.
Yes it would give a bunch of amazing animals and I'm not opposed to that. My point is that we could get burrow pack with burrow animals who live in burrows. There's a bunch of Burrowing animals I want the same way I want a bunch of animals that happen to live on islands.

That's such a vague classification though when looking at the actual definition of Island technically any land mass is an island. Continents is just a name for really big islands.

An island is a body of land surrounded by water. Continents are also surrounded by water, but because they are so big, they are not considered islands. Australia, the smallest continent, is more than three times the size of Greenland, the largest island.

According to National Geographic
So no.

There's a broad understanding of what constitutes an island or an island species. It's as valid as any other means of grouping species. It definitely long predates the "-lands" thing that I think is only half serious anyway, and has only gained steam the longer we've gone without the Tasmanian devil and people are eager to pin it to a theme now that conservation and nocturnal have been used.

Also the definition of continent changes depending on who you ask. Any of the following can be mixed and matched for a valid continental split:

  • Africa+Asia+Europe/Africa+Eurasia/Afroeurasia
  • North america+South America/Americas
  • Australia/Oceania
  • Antarctica

Ironically the only undisputed continent in any model is antarctica, the most niche one.

"Conservation" is a vague term that could have meant anything from protecting a localised population of an otherwise Least Concern species to saving an animal that is extinct in the wild (the pack leant towards the latter). It's just a way of grouping interesting species, like islands is (especially given there is a set definition for islands that excludes continental mainlands as others have pointed out).

"happen to live in islands" and comparing island fauna to burrowing animals, wow, as a passionate person about insular fauna this is painful to read lol

Just so you are aware, islands comprise one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet and are a global paradigm of evolution and conservation, and their definition is not "vague" at all. Islands are unique environments with unique wildlife, insular animals don't "happen" to live on them, they are are result of a miraculous series of events that lead into organisms reaching these isolated environments and evolving in strange, unique ways over thousands or millions of years. Moreover, islands are incredibly fragile and are one if not the most clear examples of how humans affect ecosystems and how important conservation is. By all accounts, an island pack would be a really good idea that aligns perfectly with what Planet Zoo is about (also, would add banger species like kiwis).

I know many people consider it a "meme" pack because people speculated it from muh lord howe island stick insect leak but regardless it would be a fantastic pack to have, regardless if it follows the "-lands" theming or not.

I think the -lands animal packs is a trend and we will see something like woodlands, highlands or drylands in the future.

I think an islands pack is very likely and makes a lot of sense.

However the islands pack doesn't belong to the -lands pack group. It is just a coincidence of letters:

Wet lands
High lands
Wood lands
Grass lands
Dry lands
Is lands? What does "is" mean? 🤔

Is- to me always was short for isolated. But it being based on isle makes more sense

I haven't been on the forums as long as some other people so I didn't know it was apparently a meme back in the day. From how people talked about it, it just seemed like they were going along with whole lands thing.

Anyway I was just stating my opinion on why I don't like it and speculating on other possible options. I'm just gonna stop now as to not get off topic.

Don't forget Farm Lands! I know we have a dedicated thread for it but it's another "land"

Y'all, what about an Avian animal pack we had discussed about before?

7 habitat birds and possibly 5 WE birds?

If that's the case, then here's what I propose:
  1. Pelican - any species will do
  2. Secretary bird - would be our 1st raptor in the game and great for African sections
  3. Southern screamer - I've seen these in open enclosures. They have crazy sounds
  4. Whooping crane - an endangered Texas species of crane
  5. Scarlet ibis - a beautiful bird for South American banks
  6. Mallard - there are way better ducks, but for "iconic-ness" and versatility, these
  7. Helmeted guineafowl - basically the African chicken (not really). The blue color is quite nice
  8. And for the WEs one of the following:
    1. Small parrots
      1. Rainbow lorikeet
      2. Budgerigar
      3. Sun conure
      4. Lovebird
      5. Quaker parrot
    2. Large parrots
      1. Scarlet macaw
      2. Hyacinth macaw
      3. Blue-and-yellow macaw
      4. African grey parrot
      5. Military macaw
