Thargoid Attacks: Where, When and What you can do about it

After watching the Frontier livestream this evening, I wonder if there will be a BGS state that represents a station owned by a faction being under threat of Thargoid attack. Ever since the Thargoids began attacking stations people have wanted to see NPCs and factions (and Aegis!) respond to the imminent danger and this would be a natural way to do it. If this happened, it might also mean you could filter for the state on the Galaxy Map and not need Eagle Eye to tell you where to look each week. Are there any activities related to this planned for the Beta (e.g. visiting Eagle Eye stations, checking the pipeline works and seeing what it tells you, fighting off Thargoids - which might also get scenarios of their own)? I want to test the scanning mechanics during the Beta but I expect to feel the need to take a break and do something else sometimes (and play on live - I want to be back in the Bubble in time for release).

Typically story related changes are not revealed in beta, so we'll probably be waiting for the full release. I hope something like that happens as decoding Eagle Eye has lost some of it's charm - and the 'next stage' was shown in the 3.0 trailer...

No way, how could doing the same over and over have lost its charm?! ;)

A lot of things have lost their charm...

Seeing the stream yesterday, with soo many changes to the BGS i have my hopes high for at least some to reflect the Thargoid attacks. As Factabulous said, we will probably only see it in the full release. Lets wait and see...

Scratch a couple of dozen sprouts in Negrito. I haven’t used fixed weapons in a while, I need to practice!

Been away making cash for an anaconda (also got trade as my first elite), then enginnering. I really wanted to see the difference between the FGS an the ‘conda against a cyclops solo. Will hopefully have better luck tomorrow, nhss5 were scouts every time tonight.

It felt good to be blasting aliens again!

If both go down Sol might be next and I don't care how much people hate the Federation SOL IS EVERYONE'S HOME SYSTEM! So if Sol is on the list for attack that deserves 100% effort.

Aye, I will definitely be there for that event! Anti- Scout Type-10, Anti- Interceptor Cutter and Evac Transport ships are on standby. be at the scene in less than 5 minutes ;)

Sorry, I was late to the party on this one. just got double Elite yesterday, with the help of these generous Scouts it will soon be triple! :D

How is the defence of these three systems going? Ive been killing scouts in Iota Pictoris and wondering wether to stay put or deploy somewhare else if needed?

I gave up,,,

I have been in the Pleiades Region well over a year and gave up fighting Thargoids since the "aliens" constantly respawn without any refits or refueling or any other such game mechanics the player is required to perform.
What is the point of destroying them when you cannot "clear" a system of the invaders? Why bother with them when there is no satisfaction in knowing that soon as you leave the system in question they just respawn? So you have to do this all over again each time you visit that certain system you just cleared?.
If you leave them alone they just interdict, and scan, then leave,(if you are not carrying something that triggers the attack mode).
The Alien's possible destruction does NOT cover rebuy costs nor do the rewards make that destruction worth the time and peril of your ship being destroyed.
It is a good concept but as several others have pointed out, the addition wasn't thought out as well as should have been.
So, I basically ignore the Thargoids and continue my missions as if they were not there.

Errr, no - this thread is about defending the systems in the bubble that are under attack. Thargoids always leave after a week, but if enough are killed then they won't disable a starport as they leave.

Attacking them in the Pleiades is pointless, but people seem to enjoy it, attacking them in the bubble can help defend humanity.

Right on CMDR!

No idea about levels, but my FDL, Goshawk, was back in action in Negrito last night and I didn't see any other players. In other news, the addition of a large thermal vent laser pointer really makes a difference!

AXI usually has info on the progress. I think the numbers can be found on Cannon's site? Even then it is just PC users who are running an addon to an app or filling out a form. It is a good guess, though.

Fair enough, play your own way and all that. I fight the thargoids because i choose to, because i want to defend humanity from further harm. So that you may continue your missions as if they were not there.

At least, it cannot go on this way. Nope. The Thargoid invasion is a joke, and each week, it gets worse. It had some very cool moments at first, but unfortunately died rather quickly. Really. It did. Face it. Repetitive nonsense without any ingame consequences. Sad, sad, sad.

No? Consider this: I was a true believer once and defended that stuff with teeth and claws & a flotilla of dedicated ships, too :D

O7,

Again : we are not at war, they haven't started any invasion. Not yet. So, yeah, it doesn't feel like any of those things cause it's not what's happening for now, is all.

Iota Pictoris A IS the one which still needs defensive effort...unless we've seen another shift in the Thresholds...the other two systems look secure (as of 11:00 UTC Tuesday)

Thanks again Jason. Where are you seeing this information? If i could check that every week instead of asking here it wouod help me out. Thanks again.

I find out from having discord up and having the AXI server on. Usually if there is an announcement that comes up, it is information that their chosen system has met the kill requirements for a successful defense.

Ive been having issues with discord lately, something to do with google play services, so have not been able to check that for 2 weeks hence why ive been aking here. If I could check the numbers myself it would be handy. Thanks for the info.

A? Even if you discount the stations attacked in the Pleiades, what about the ones attacked in the bubble??
