Ship design professionals need to learn what specific courses, I taught myself, I have now read the structure and mapping, and CAD is a design company is following directly in the study, but also learn something, like how those professional school students , and heard that mechanics have to learn, if there were mechanics, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics or the like, these are a separate subject? Is there any order, and there are these things play in the design in the end what's the use, as our staff is doing the following detailed drawings of the draw, rarely used them. Also like profile, general arrangement, structural plans of what veterans are drawn, how they paint is not necessary to draw these many years of experience, as well as some practice computing, but also what's the use of , to learn what things

FFED3D New Rossyth Shipyard

why don't open a thread where we just present existing or new models for FFED3D?
here we go :D

i would like to see also unfinished or models you aren't proud of, maybe others like it, you could never know. ;) don't forget to post the model somewhere for a download. i would apreciate more community made models, :) i know not so many Frontier heads outside there it looks. :p

StudCity IP Shuttle

again, but now a pre release for download

studcityipshuttle02.jpg

download P66 StudCity IP Shuttle v0.9 from ssc.

i'm still not satisfied and a alternate version (in red) with a female pilot has to be completet to.
polycount is 9219 and far to high. but i don't mind and as i said, it's not possible to do a LEGO model in that scale with less, scaling represents exact LEGO to FFED3D scale.
but it's just for fun and shuttles have rarely be seen in the game, exept you own one.
a label, pos. lights and thruster fix for the exe will follow. final v1 will have a bit less polygons and the landing gear animation flip will be fixed (hopefully).

thanks a lot, i missed some positive echo to it, but it seems i shouldn't stop creating "LEGO" models. :)
and best of all, you don't have to understand much about cad and you can create nice "LEGO" spaceships with LDraw, like you would do with the real bricks. and as long as you find someone who dares to convert them to .x, you can use them in ffed3d.
it's a piece of work, but one model can be done in a very short time, roundabout two weekends (one for the ldraw model, one for transferring to .x).

A fun web site to be sure Potsmoke. I wonder how many of his predictions will come true? Mind you I still think he did not go far enough. If you are going to dream about Elite IV, make sure you dream big! :D

it's a very old page and outdated i have no idea what happens to him and his models , he promised to release.
would be nice to transfer them to ffed3d they look pretty neat.
i think it would make no sense to write a e-mail to the listed adress from 2001!

I agree, those models are super!
Why not email him, you never know? Perhaps, being such a big fan of the Elite games, he might drop by here from time to time and save you the bother, or perhaps someone else on this forum knows him?

It would be nice if someone were to make an application which allows you to build Lego within a 3D environment - perhaps as a tool to get kids into 3D modeling or programming (creating a model and applying them to a gameworld etc.)

truely, that stoods behind the original vision i had. :)
a built in brick based model editor, with the possibility to create new bricks for advanced users. something like sc3k's Building Architect, easy to understand.

building models with LDraw is almost as easy as this, the ui could be more user friendly imo.
transferring them to direct x is a more sophisticated thing, i could still use some help with it, because i think it should be possible to render only the surface of the model and use the output for a low-poly mesh with Blender.
LDraws models are extremely high poly because all sides of each brick are modeled and they didn't mind about smoothing curves.
If someone has the time for it Blender itself could be setup as such an special game editor in which you can use predefined bricks, only thing left to do is how to process the rendering and remodeling by a script(s).

or i have to get educated in programing C++ for DX.
