GRU HYPUE MA-D C13-13
This is a 4 star system with the A and B stars very close together, less than the radius of the A star which is about 0.85 solar radius.
It's about halfway between Gagarin Gate (Gru Hypue KS-T d3-31) and Mitchell's Legacy (Boewnst AA-A h33).
CMDRs entering this system in a direction coming from Colonia towards the Bubble should take caution as they could drop very close to the B star.

Thank you for your suggestion, CMDR. However, we stopped adding exploration hazards to the GMP, because with the advent of enhanced jump ranges and FDev having twirked their exit vectors and ship location routines lately, space has become a lot less hazardous. Existing submissions bear witness that times were not always that safe but all in all "close proximity" stars are not that uncommon.

What would qualify for a POI entry is a contact binary where both stars' orbits are so close that they actually touch each other. If you find one of these, please by all means feel free to submit them to the GMP.

I can only second what Erimus and Andrew already said.

- it is great to see how the Mapping Project has developed organically during the last two years - growing to encompass so much of what the exploration community has to offer. From the many contributions of individual explorers sharing their remarkable discoveries or pushing the boundaries on where explorers can go or what they can find. To the group efforts of community expeditions, early research voyages of the FGE, Rock Rats of Distant Worlds, CCN exploration wing, Canonn and Children of Raxxla research intro the mysteries of the galaxy... And none of this would be possible without the technical skills of the people developing great explorations tools like EDDiscovery, EDSM and more.

I just really enjoy to see how the Mapping Project has grown to be a place that tries to tie all of this together :D

Desc: This cuaternary system has one minor star orbiting in very close proximity to the main star, so pilots should beware that depending on their arrival vector and relative position of the stars, they could end up inside the second star's inferno.

The Traikeou Goliaths

POI type: Stellar Feature
System ref.: Traikeou AA-A h4

Description: The system is dominated by a Wolf-Rayet star of some 80 solar masses which is orbited by nothing less than a B Ia0 supergiant, which is on the border to being a true hypergiant with more than 450 solar radii and a luminosity of more than 5 million times that of Sol. Sitting high above the galactic plane at 937 light years these two Goliaths rule the sector from above, all else seeming as little more than stellar ants.

Happy Birthday indeed! I'm not sure we dared dream it would last this long when you first proposed the idea, but the strength with which it has grown is a big testament to you Erimus and the passion that the crazy people us explorers have.

POI Type: Planetary Nebula
Galmap ref: Flyiedgai ST-R e4-8

Desc: "This small blue nebula is the apparent remnant of supernova; all bodies inside the nebula are only 256 million years old. The nebula contains a neutron star, two main-sequence stars, and a host of smaller bodies. A water world, with life, can be found in orbit between the two stars and is unusual given the young age of the system. The nebula contains excellent views of the rich field of nebula as one approaches the coreward side of the Scutum-Sagittarii Conflux."

I don't know if there should be a separate map for "things inside the bubble" worthy of interest; but this is unique enough to warrant inclusion on regular EDSM, I think.

GalMap Ref: Ros 780

Desc: "This class-III gas giant orbits the host start at mere 2.99 Ls, making it one of the closest orbiting gas giants ever seen. Gravitational effects produce a noticeable distortion in the shape of the object. At 775K this gas giant is hotter than many Y-class or T-class dwarf stars."

POI Name: NSV 1056 - request CHANGE to "IC 289 Nebula"
GalMap Ref: NSV 1056

Desc update: "IC 289 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It was discovered by Lewis Swift in early September 1888. The nebula contains NSV 1056, a Wolf-Rayet star of 4 stellar masses. A tourist beacon for viewing this nebula can be found in nearby system IC 289 Sector DL-Y D17".
