The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

I am currently participating in the expedition Pegasus Run 3305, a galactic circumnavigation. The following discovery was made as a result of this expedition. It is in the Galactic Region called Errant Marches.

Name:The Springs of Pegasus*
Game map search ref:FLYUE EORG QE-G D11-0
Description:Planets 2 (2.13G) and 3 (1.57G) are a close pair of ringed metal-rich bodies. Planet 2 also has a small moon 2a (0.04G). Their distance to each other is about 0.83 ls. All three bodies are landable. Both have geological signals, Planet 2 has Silicate Vapour Fumaroles (7 sites), planet 3 has Sulphur Dioxide Gas Vents (9 sites).

*The naming is derived from the expedition name and the legendary ability of the winged horse to create springs with the strike of its hoof. Here the according excerpt from the Wikipedia entry.
According to legend, everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring water spring burst forth. One of these springs was upon the Muses' Mount Helicon, the Hippocrene ("horse spring"),[6] opened, Antoninus Liberalis suggested,[7] at the behest of Poseidon to prevent the mountain swelling with rapture at the song of the Muses; another was at Troezen.[8] Hesiod relates how Pegasus was peacefully drinking from a spring when the hero Bellerophon captured him. Hesiod also says Pegasus carried thunderbolts for Zeus.
Since these worlds in the black void are like springs in the desert I think this is fitting name. If possible, the naming could be extended to the planets as follows: Hippocrene (Planet 3), Troezen (Planet 2), Pegasus' Hoof (Moon 2 a)

On my way back from Beagle Point after DW2, I came across this system. The blue and golden colors on Planet A 4 a (or possibly A 4 b) provided a very comfortable feeling of "home" compared to the usual red or icy planets.

Name:Geysers Galore
Game map search ref:Smootae AB-W c15-12
Description:Located within the Hieronymus Delta close to the Triple Frontier of the Formorian Frontier and Newton´s Fault, this system offers four different types of Geysers on landable planets: Water, Carbon Dioxide, Silicate Magma and Silicate Vapour. Additionally, it has two HMC worlds suitable for terraforming, one located only 8LS away from a T star.

Name:Devil's Hair Nebula
Game map search ref:Puelaa OD-V b8-0
Description:This wispy, red nebula is situated about a thousand lightyears above the galactic plane on the border of the Circinus Transit and Norma Expanse. It's very small, not extending past 10 lightyears in any direction and is thus lightly explored.

Name:Cratemountia
Game map search ref:Gru Hypai XL-T b18-1 B 2 a
Description:A rather normal system with ice worlds, gas giants and two suns.
But one Ice world sticks out! The World “B 2 a” (4.589 Ls away from dropout) is a rocky ice world with a very rough surface.
It has some huge craters and many canyons who have a blue colour and go into contrast with the red brown colour of the planet.
It’s mountains are close together with a height of roughly 10km and the canyons on the darker side cut 14km deep into the surface.
I name it “Cratemountia”
For its deep craters, canyons and high mountains

DescriptionA star nursery, with seven T-Tauri orbiting an O blue supergiant, with several binaries and even one of the stars denoted as a moon.
Between all of those, a few poor metallic planets. The ones with an atmosphere have a sympathic lavender color and absolutely terrifying surface conditions, up to 13'688'580 atmospheres and 9'892 K...

Thread updated #4374 - #4406

The "I'm Still Alive" edition

Added:

#4375 - Added as 'The Zebra' (I was unable to find any previous examples of these)
#4377 - Added as 'Feelings of Home in the Dark'
#4394 - Added as 'Lavender Nebula'. Was genuinely surprised that the galaxy still has unsubmitted nebula (large ones).
#4402 - Added as 'Circles in the Sky'.
#4406 - Added as 'Wedding Rings'. A ringed ELW around a gas giant! You lucky SOB!

Not Added:

#4373 (PLAA SCRAA EA-A E114) - already has been entered as POI 'Choose Your Own Adventure'
#4373 Phoenix Eye / Dryiquae PS-U f2-0
#4374 - submit as individual POI to have them evaluated
#4376, #4385, #4386, #4390, #4396, #4397, #4398
#4383 (not clear from given photo - more photos might help sell this one)
#4384 - we already have photos of Hawking's Dream (Rhadia AA-A h59), we need photos of Hawking's NEBULA (Eock Bluae JQ-Y d1)
#4400 - we no longer need green or jumponium system submissions! EDSM can do this for you automatically now.
#4403 - not sold on this being an exceptional example of a planetary nebula
#4404 - 'cold' Wolf-Rayets are well known and exist in the hundreds

Updated:

#4381 - moved to Archived and updated description
#4395 - This submission is just outside the already-named Skudai Nebula. However, the Skudai Nebula entry had no photos. The reference system for the Skudai Nebula was updated to Prua Phoe US-B d82, photos were added, and the description of the ring view added. Thanks!
