I really hope there's an Imperial equivalent - otherwise Count Rall is going to have to infiltrate the Federal Navy to acquire one.

And the thought makes me fell dirty.

as the Panther (ship on the left for ppl don't know) was that biggest ship in the original at 2100tons cargo with no drive the corvette going on that should be half the size of a capital ship

View attachment 13411

Um no, this is a corvette class which shouldnt be half the size of a battleship. If anything i think the battleship will get re-sized, there is still a destoryer, or frigate and also a carrier that we have no seen.

im gonna take a punt that this thing will carrier a condor or a small fighter.

Have you calibrated the stick? If it thinks the potentiometer's center point is somewhere off thataway---> then you're going to spin left with the stick phyiscally centered.

Try to log out and log back in - you have a good chance it's disappearing.
It's like a bug - I had it a few times and relogging to the game solved it. (However for me it was a slight "pitch down" effect not horizontal).

Edit: My Black Widow worked fine, the X-52 however produced the above.

She looks like the equivalent of the anaconda and most likely the imp cutter that's coming later.

Problem is - after seeing how terrible the dropship is compared to its "peer" - the clipper, I am very worried, that the corvette will also be a very poor ship compared to anything in its weight category. Something like... a different, but equally potent weapon arrangement as an anaconda, but heavier, with a fraction of potential cargo space and pitiful jump range. All that for somewhere around 200-300m and some fed rank.

I'm hoping those white bits light up when its in flight. That would be quite a sight to see I think.
Indeed it would be quite a sight, except there is no external view and getting close to one will be a brief encounter! You will be too busy keeping your shields up to see anything!

Will be nerfed into oblivion until people can kill them in 30s with their Vipers.
+1 :) I believe you have accurately assessed FD company ethos!

I hope they nerf it before it's released, then it wont need nerfing ;)

Still want my Panther though, fully nerfed before release so it can't possibly be nerfed anymore :)

Lol...:) You should be in the FD ED design team...or perhaps you are already...:)

I love reading these posts. I wonder if any developer's also share my enjoyment or pay heed to what us folks think?

AFAIK, the Dropship is not intended to be the 'peer' of the Clipper. I'm pretty sure that the Dropship (like the Orca) counts as a 'liner', and so won't be much use until the passenger gameplay is added.

EDIT: Found the post about it:

"The orca and dropships rely on passenger game play to justify their downsides that hasn't been implemented yet unfortunately." Mike Evans

Hello fellow CMDRs,

I'm currently still using my trusty old Saitek X36F/35T USB Hotas System (the digital version, with sensors instead of potentiometers) but after now comming into it's 16th year of service the X36 Stick is starting to show some serious signs of wear (not that I'm complaining, I'm kinda glad it lasted me this long), as the stick has started to show more and more play/slack around the center position. I think the bearing is simply completely worn out but the stick still registeres every input without any lag or jumpiness, I just have to keep the stick centered myself, so it seems the sensors are still working fine. Also I kinda ran out of buttons while mapping the functions I needed in ED, so I'm seriously considering buying a newer HOTAS to finally give my X36 the rest it deserves. The thing is, I simply love the analog rudder on the throttle that the X36 has but it seems that no one is building those anymore, the only current HOTAS that I found that still has this feature seems to be the cheap Thrustmaster Flight X. But considering the price of that thing and by simply looking at it I think that would be a complete downgrade from my current setup(and I doubt it would last me as long as my current setup did). So, I'm basically looking for a new hotas that has atleast the same amount of buttons/hats that my X36 has, plus an extra hat on the stick or throttle, so that I could map the remaining functions that are currently still on the keyboard (I really don't like to use programming software or mode switches for double mapping of buttons), that is quality made so it will last a while and that isn't overly expensive, so below 300 Euro would be nice(an analog rudder on the throttle would be a bonus but as I said it seems noone is building that anymore).

Also, this is how I currently have mapped my X36 (FSD, Landing gear and UI Focus are still mapped the the keyboard as I ran out of buttons), used spoiler tags due to image size.

Razer Orbweaver and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Control Scheme

Hi everyone! I just started playing Elite, and I went looking for a control setup. I was debating on the X52 Pro but ultimately went with a combo of the Razer Orbweaver and the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I thought I'd share my control setup if anyone is interested in it. I'd like to know what people think or if others are using something similar. It's incredibly comfortable and very easy to control throttle and distribute the power in combat. So far I occasionally use my mouse for headlook. I'm looking into other options for immersions right now. In the mean time, here is my control scheme that I've been using, enjoy.

Please visit this link: http--- s8.postimg.org/rx207elxx/Orbweaver3_DPro_Elite_Dangerous_Controls.jpg

Have to manually enter link. Frontier has a restriction for new accounts posting hyperlinks but I worked on this and refuse to not post it.

Newbie question on joystick commands with T16000M

Ok so based on several comments and gentle nudges on my first thread where I said I started the game with keyboard mouse, I picked up my new Thrustmaster T16000M joystick, to finally learn it. Note: I've never ever used a joystick in my life before.

So I'm mapping the controls to the joystick (mostly using the video by Tim Wheatley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYv8dxga4eM although I did change a few things from there (e.g. yaw vs roll) and while I think I got most of the things right, I'm stumped at thrust fw and back. For thrust left, right, up and down I use the POV hat's 4 directions. But forward and backward? Bit stumped...

Btw these are the bindings I've currently mapped (for basic stuff so far):

Roll- X axis
Yaw - RZ axis
Pitch - Y axis
Thrust - the POV hat

Can anyone help me out with fw and back thrust?

To be clear - are you talking about the throttle control or maneuvering thrusters?

There should be a slider somewhere on the base of the stick. Map the throttle to that. You don't, IMO, need forward and back thrust - the throttle should take care of it - just move it a little bit!

I also STRONGLY recommend mapping a button to toggle the throttle to forward/reverse rather than have reverse as part of the full range of motion.

If you have the budget, pick up an Attack3 for your offhand. Use the T16000M hat for targeting, and the Attack3 top buttons for forward/back. For trading, I map forward/back (makes landing a breeze), and for pew-pew I only map back (the other 3 buttons are for power dist). The key to the pew-pew version is to put throttle in the sweet spot with the throttle, and then use the back throttle on the hat judiciously to maintain distance to target while pew-pewing. Amazingly awesome.

For me fw and back thrusters are not throttle. From what I understood, throttle is when you speed up or down, no? The fw and back thrusters are simply moving in that direction, no? So I guess what I'm asking is..how do I move forward or backward, because the left, right, up and down thrusters take care of moving in those directions (i.e. lateral or upwards/downwards).

Thanks the100thmonkey for your suggestion, I did map the slider button to throttle, but didn't realize that I could actually use that as fw and back thruster if I move the stick around. Will have to figure it out the actual stick movement for it.

"mapping a button to toggle the throttle to forward/reverse" - this I will also check out, thanks for the tip! So many things to learn...just today I've learned e.g. that I don't have to map each thruster or yaw or whatever movement separately, but I simply map the axis...and I bet there are tons of things I still don't know. But that's the beauty of it...learning :)

Attack3 - thanks for suggestion, but I literally don't have place on my desk for another joystick at the moment. I also use it for crafts (making jewelry), and well, space in my room is very (and I mean very) limited...

I also use a T16000 M - I put thrusters on the POV hat like you did and left the forward/backward thrust on the keyboard as I almost never use them.

Here is my mapping :
Trigger: Fire 1 - Central top button: Fire 2 (Select in panel mode) - left top : acquire front target (tab left in panel mode) right top : deploy/retract hardpoints (right tab in panel mode)
POV hat : Thrusters ( move inside panels in panel mode )
left base buttons : FSD SC - FSD Jump - Boost - Next weapons group - Flight assist on/off - Reverse thrust
right base buttons : Landing gear - Cargo scoop - Ship lights

The only things I use on keyboard are arrows for power pips, thrust forward/backward and a couple direct keys (X and C) for shield cells and chaff (faster than to switch weapon group and fire)

There is also a forward/back thruster that works like the vertical and lateral thrusters.

That you don't know about them reinforces my point!

Well I'll be damned ... just went to check in the Options/Controls list because I confess I didn't believe you and there they are: Thrust Forward & Thrust Backward. I apologise and yes, you're right - it does indeed reinforce your point. Have some rep :)

Wow, so many questions. If you're running from an attack at full thrust would applying forward thrust give you an extra little bit of speed?
