Yes it is rather annoying, as I had been holding out as well.

Also annoyingly our lovely government slaps a import duty on them as well, so even if you buy from Amazon.com you end up paying £150.

Is saving £36 worth the lack of warranty?

You can order it from amazon.fr for about £150 too... Presumably being EU there is no warranty issue.

The placement of the hat on the throttle, near the left thumb, looks well placed and usable. But there appears to be one underneath it. How the hell do you get to that one I wonder?

Just had confirmation of pricing of the X-55 from UK distribution.

If the Scan/Ebuyer/Dabs/OCUK are going to charge their usual margin, then expect a selling price of £119 to 129+VAT (£142-£154 inc).

WOW you're right, I'm struggling to remember all the buttons on my thrustmaster HOTAS as it is. Perhaps careful use of a trained octopus may be in order?

Dumb question ....but when using the X52 pro setup, how do I turn my head in the cockpit !? ...can't figure it out !

Index Finger button on the throttle to toggle look, then use the silver POV button on the joystick.

Guys, my week old X-52 pro has developed a few problems. At first it was as smooth as butter, but last night I threw it around in a few dogfights, and tried twisting it for rudder. Subsequently where it was smooth before it has become a little 'bitty' - IE It feels like there is slightly more tension, and almost like it is lightly grinding against something when moving, or that dirt/debris has attached to a part and makes it feels a little bumpy. There is sometimes a clanking sound when I move left/right, and a slight 'sawing' sound. However, it still works ok EXCEPT for the fact it registers slight X movement it it centred.

So, I am considering returning it and getting a replacement, or perhaps the Thrustmaster Warthog.

Regarding the Warthog, will it work ok on ED? I hear there is no twist rudder control. Is this something that can easily and adequately be mapped onto a slider or something? I know it is regarded as a good stick, but this issue puts me off as I doubt I'd get rudder pedals in the future.

Does the split throttle affect gamplay in any way?

If not the warthog, any other suggestions? I can't find any reviews on the X55 yet. I'm also considering the CH fighterstick and throttle combo.

Incidentally, GameSeek have the Warthog as a much better price than anyone else (£267). Are they reputable? It seems this was £226 from Amazon in December, but has shot up to £327.

Ok a bit of advice needed.

I picked up a cheap Thrustmaster hotas x which is more than good enough for me to slam into the side of stations, asteroids, anaconders etc...

I'd be interested in how others have mapped out theit functions/buttons on the stick and throttle to make the best out of ED.

Just want to warn you, the X-55 does not work properly for me right now. It being a 2 joystick configuration at the hardware level causes the x any y axis on both sticks to conflict.

Yes it works on ED wonderfully, when using the TARGET software. Configure the buttons and switches in target, then use the games control config page to assign triggers, switches and buttons.
It's a VERY heavy stick thoug(solid metal), so if your used to a lighter plastic stick, this will take some getting used to.

The split throttle "left" is best used as yaw "twist" rudder, but obviously not twisting :D until you get some combat pedals

What pedals do people use with the Thrustmaster stuff? I want to be confident about the things playing nice together.

Hi there T.j

I've only just reacquainted myself with a Joystick after years of abstinence and so I'm just getting to grips with one again, quite literally?

I saw the Thrustmaster as a relatively inexpensive “Toe in the water” model that had good functionality and I've had a N25te for years which has helped to map a lot of other buttons to as well.

Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas & N25te Button Map for ED.
However this is very much a work in progress and I'm still in the throes of furious tinkering so this may very likely change ,but at least its a start. I have found it particularly useful to bind 50% throttle to a button as it allows me to hit the turning sweet spot without having to look down at the cockpit or goose the throttle like a ham-fisted Baboon.

Hope that is of some help.

Spiggs

I realise that pedals don't work for ED yet, but I was hoping somebody would have experience running either Saitek or CH pedals with a Thrustmaster stick (or HOTAS)

Thrustmaster USB Joystick

Hello,

I have been looking at getting a UBER flight stick.. but I will be playing on MAC.
Currently I am playing on a Bootcamp Win 8 mac and I noticed the:

Thrustmaster USB Joystick - via a large rainforest related shop

(mac and win compatible)

anyone got one?

ta

I have - it works just fine although I've found myself playing more with an xbox controller purely because it's easier / more comfortable for me to sit back in the chair and hold :)
