Ahh, the ever elusive button #19... took me a while to find it as well, amongst a few other "buttons" hidden in places I didn't expect (like on the two display panel scroll wheels)

I still haven't found it yet - well I know where it is but haven't successfully managed to press it. Or maybe I have and it just doesn't do anything. Lucky I didn't get an even more complicated joystick, if one exists.

Now go into the game, and see if it works. My throttle was backwards first up, so when I had it pushed away I had no speed, pulled to me full speed. SO back in the panel, and click "inverted" to "ON".[/QUOTE]

Throttle maximum is supposed to be with the throttle stick towards you, and No throttle is away from you. You had it the right way around to start with.

This is how throttles in aircraft work.

But we are playing at make believe space craft. Either is correct. It depends entirely on how the users wants it.

Of course it is entirely optional and up to the user, but only one way is correct.
Correctness has always been optional.

Are there any astronauts or Extra-Terrestrial visitors on the forum who can clear this up?

I also play with my xbox controller axis inverted (forward is down, backward is up) like a joystick and i get no end of hate about this from mates. Every time the controller goes from me to them i get abused. I try to tell them how wrong they are but they never listen......

OK, one last attempt, a scroll wheel does not work like a button. Yes you can use it for throttle, I've never said you couldn't. What I am saying is the scroll wheel is NOT button 12 or 13 because the joystick has 12 buttons and button 12 is the button with the red square / dot on it.

Seriously, do you not understand what binary is? On or off. A red square or an empty square. Shift on or shift off. That button is a shift button and gives you 22 buttons (11 times two).

It even says here http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/v5stick.htm SHIFT BUTTON .... 12 BUTTONS
You're wrong. End of. Stop arguing.
What the the manufacturer calls a button and what your OS calls a button are 2 different things, actually. According to the manufacturer my mouse has seven buttons whereas my OS says it has nine. Manufacturers usually don't call mousescroll up and down two buttons, but that's how your OS treats them.

I thought it toggled headlock - so push it then the lookabout the cockpit with your avatar's head (well, it doesn't have one, but your PoV should move about as if it did) then push it again and the head will snap back to forward centre and disable the ability to look about.

That's what I thought too, but I haven't managed to get it to do that. I'll have to check the button assignments and see if I haven't assigned it to the 'do nothing like a right lemon' action...

Slightly off topic

don't want to hijack , It says button 31 is for engine boost but can't boost when I press it........Anyone ?

I'm sure someone will butt in with the correct answer, but I think you have to turn off 'capture mode' on the X52 control panel for it to work. Did for me.

Here's the answer from another thread (don't have an X52, so it may be what Bumvelcrow said):

The real solution is to unbind the clutch. Uncheck the "Enable Clutch Mode" setting in the MFD tab.

Works perfectly, no need to leave any control panel open.

I am not arguing. I am not wrong. I am just stating the facts. Yes the website says 12 buttons. Yes there is a scroll wheel. In the control options elite dangerous recognises the action of the scroll wheel to be button 12 and 13 with the shift button to be button 14.

The concept of binary is irrevalent. The op said the game indicates he has control mapped to button 12 on a saitek fly 5 and that he like you can not find any reference to button 12. I merely informed him what the game accepts is button 12.

For some reason you, who appears not to have a fly 5 or you might have plugged it in to check the facts, seem hell bent saying I am wrong when I actually use the stick....
You *could* assign button 12 and button 13 to the scroll wheel to control throttle in ED, and here where is you can't grasp facts, we are not talking about what you can assign what to in the game. The OP asked where was button 12 on the joystick. You said it was the scroll wheel. You are wrong. I have shown you are wrong. You are the one who refuses to admit it.

Whether I have a F.L.Y. 5 or not is irrelevant (but I do have one) the fact is still that button 12 is the shift button, which is what the op asked about.

EDIT: I am not "hell bent on saying you are wrong" you are the one refusing to accept that button 12 is not the scroll wheel. Any mature, normal person would have replied "Oh ok, maybe it is then", but you have insisted on trolling a response out of me.

I got my x52 (not pro) yesterday. Spent ages looking for all the buttons. Can't wait till I am in the heat of battle trying to remember where they all are!

Thank heavens for this forum!

They look intimidating, but I found that my hands now find the buttons (apart from 19!) automatically, and I'm a premium beta so haven't been playing that long. A couple of days was all it took.

Having said that, despite the various hats, cogs and levers sinking in fairly quickly I have tremendous difficulty remembering the difference between 'target closest enemy' and 'target nearest ahead'. Must be a mental block.

Well button 19 (scroll button on the joystick) I use for my mouse control looking around the cockpit. The Scroll I use for zooming in radar and zoom out of radar. But like graphyte I don't have the 52x pro version. A week ago got my flight stick for $20

Thing I did to improve on my flight stick was found a rubber washer Cut one side and slip it between the spring and joystick. Which will make it stiffer. Because my flight stick felt to loose. If I wanted it looser I would buy a thinner plastic or rubber washer.

X52 configuration profile suggestion

I've created a X52 configuration profile with minor changes, which I think would work quite well. Any suggestions ?
