Anyone know if the Logitech Extreme 3D PRO stick be in?
There's plenty of people posting in this thread that have them (including me). So far it's not a 'standard' selectable control profile but it can be configured manually and again there are several posts relating to that here. It might be a standard device in either Beta or release but that's only guessing, but there's no issues in using it either way.

I've never used a HOTAS system before, and I can't decide between an X52 Pro or an X55

I prefer the look of the X52 Pro - more "sci fi", just think it looks more aesthetically pleasing, particularly the throttle.

However, I've seen a YouTube video of a guy using it with Elite and one of his complaints about the throttle is that there seems to be a lot of wasted real estate, particularly for the thumb, as there's no easy way to control thrusters with the the thumb.

With the X55 - it obviously has a lot more buttons and options, but I don't like the look as much and I'm not a fan of the switches on the throttle which go back to the middle position instead of staying in the up or down position - I can imagine this makes things harder to keep track of what is toggled in what way.

That said, the X52 Pro is getting on in years, and the X55 is brand new, so technology has obviously advanced somewhat and I understand the X55 is very smooth and accurate with great precision.

Still, is its tech advances worth the extra €100 you'd be paying over the X52 Pro? Just can't decide.

Can you actually get an X-52 Pro at the quoted price where you are?

I was looking in the UK a couple weeks ago and the choice was simplified by the fact that X-52 Pros (and CH stuff) were getting quite hard to come by. The cheapest I could find one (that was actually in stock - as there were lots listed for less with a substantial wait) was about £130 and I could pick up an X-55 for £149.

I like the X-55, and am enjoying the stick, though I have been unable to get the throttle working in 1.1 - roll on the 30th!

I find the stick very accurate. My only complaint would be a personal one that it feels a little like it has been designed for a large pair of hands and some of the buttons are hard to reach, though I am getting more used to that.

150 quid for an X55? was that on ebay? That is the only place i can find for that price, and that has a 30 day warranty and they have no stock. A smoking price if you can get for that inc P&P with full warranty, instock.

Why would you buy an X55 when you could have this?

Saitek X55 discount!

I've bought some gear from CPC in the past, & having made some enquiries, they are willing to do a deal for prospective Elite buyers!!

If you go to the CPC site (https://cpc.farnell.com), go to the Shopping Basket, & in the stock column enter this code: CS2725388
(It is a special code & WILL NOT show up via general 'Search' box).

On entering it & updating the basket, you will get a price of 149.99 inc. VAT (& postage is free!).

Best of all, they have a couple in stock now (I just ordered one); when those are gone, you'll have to wait until July for the next shipment. Of course you'll still be able to pre-order with this code once the current stock goes.

Please post this in other Elite threads, but bear in mind the offer was made for the benefit of Elite players, hence please don't post it outside the forums. Cheers!

Cr*P on a cracker ,that just saved me at least £20 - £30.

Been umming and ahhing about pushing the button on one of these but that offer made it easy for me.

Many thanks for the heads up.

Is anyone using a CH Fighter stick with CH throttle without the pedals? Are you using the Throttle for yaw? How is it working out?

My word, thank you! I've just placed my order, saving £27 on the one I did have on order (and which wasn't going to arrive until after the premium beta starts).

Still not going to cancel my order with Flightstore until it arrives, but as I ponied up the extra £3 for next day delivery (seemed a trivial amount on a £150 order) I shouldn't have to wait long.

+rep for you sir! :D

Fortunately I got my pedals, I really cannot think of any comfortable way to yaw without them, in settings there is an option yaw into roll, which somehow makes yaw automatic, but getting pedals would be my best suggestion :)

Thanks Pete. Ordered, and rep given.

Has anyone adjusted their joystick's settings at all regards things like sensitivity and dead zones etc?

Was having a play around last night and found that pitch seemed too sensitive but roll and yaw was OK. Adjusting the sensitivity down for that axis on the joystick (in the joystick settings not E: D's settings) meant that I found it easier to target ships.

Previously I'd really struggled using the joystick compared to using a Xbox360 pad. I was always over shooting my target and struggling to keep my cross hairs on them but with the Xbox pad I was deadly accurate.

I wonder if the overuse of gimbel'd weapons is really due to people struggling to aim with joysticks rather than them just being crap at aiming.

Yes, it was the first thing to do. I slightly adjusted my joystick profile for Oolite to get a good feeling of E: D.

I'm trying to. As Prasak said there are a couple of yaw into roll options but I'm finding they make it harder and slower to follow a dodging target in certain directions than with my old Logitech 2.4 with a twist rudder, however the ch is so much more precise.

I'm experimenting with using the mini stick x-axis to do yaw, (leaving y for thrust up/down which is the only thrust I use during combat anyway.) It's going to take some practise and tweaking the sensitivity but promising so far.

Anyone else?

I have non-linear curves on everything but the throttle.

A gentle s-curve on the joystick and pedals, a steep one on the thumbstick used for translational thrusters. Deadzones are not the answer of course, they can only be used to deal with hardware issues. (The thunb stick doesn't center precicely, so it has an 8% deadzone... Used throttle).

@Helfix IMO the CH gear needs those pedals since there is no stick twist.
