Mine broke after 3 months. (Finger Trigger stopped responding, stick wouldn't return to middle position cleanly & bad vertical deadzone).

Having ordered it from Amazon I still got a full refund (no further stock at Amazon.co.uk for a replacement). I originally purchased it for 116GBP.

Supply is very hard to come by especially considering half the people on here bought them up :D and simply because the X55 is now available, which is its successor.

Look out for ones on ebay, especially if there is a newer model out now. Just make sure to read the description carefully.

There are currently several auctions for X52 Pros under £100.

Hi

I'm sorry if this is a little off topic..

I'm looking at purchasing an x52 pro joystick, but I'm having tracking one down at realistic price in the UK.

Can anyone remember a good place to purchase one, they seem to have a RRP of around £135ish if purchased direct from their website.

Thanks

the cheapest you will find an x52 pro is about £110. £135 is the highest I would pay,

I can't decide between a Saitek x55 setup or a CH Fighterstick/Throttle Pro setup. I like the idea of a twister joystick because I don't really want to fork out more money for pedals. However, I have heard some say that the CH setup is more accurate and reliable than the Saitek x55?

I don't know what to choose!

I use Logitech Extreme 3d Pro... Had terrible problems with sensitivity until I realized that my joystick axes were mapped separately (+/- would be its own move) rather than a continuous axis. Once I remapped to continuous axis, it seemed to help a lot.

I also have old school HOTAS Cougar from 11 years ago, but it's glitchy in Win8 - sometimes it recognizes USB ports, and other times it doesn't. Some day I'll figure out how to fix it lol.

I had the same dilemma, went for the X55 for 2 reasons - pedals seemed overkill for ED's yaw and I couldn't be bothered kicking them (or moving them) all the time!

The latest Alpha build has a button you can use to lock-out the yaw-on-roll setting, so you can enable yaw on a button-press if you want to. I use the pinkie on the CH stick to toggle it. The docking overrides also mean I can turn off yaw-on-roll while on final approach (basically, any time your landing gear is down) so I'm pretty happy with the CH setup now, even without pedals.

With gear down, I have pure roll, with the option to toggle yaw with the pinkie button.
With gear up, I use low yaw-on-roll since most of the time it's desirable away from a station (combat, aligning with cargo on scooping). If I ever want pure roll, I can always drop my landing gear :D...

I am now a very happy bunny today as I was given a £50 Dabs.com voucher as an apology by Dabs for some monumental errors they made.

Although I was happy enough with my 15 year old MS sidewinder I have now decided on what has been said on this and other forums to buy a X52 Pro for less than £60.

Although apparently there is a big shortage of joysticks and I need to wait for fresh stock to come in.

So any hints or tips needed with using the X52 Pro on win 7 64bit?

How are you finding the combat with those options for fine aiming? Are you having any issues with it?

I ordered an CH Throttle to go along with my T1600, but I also ordered a x52 pro as well. I like the X52 pro stick because it has many buttons on it as well as twist for yaw, but I prefer the CH Throttle so at a bit of a loss. Is the Cyborg fly 5 a better option for stick?

also if there is anyone out there who is REALLY good with TARGET...

what i would love to see is an example of how to code something like having the S4 button held down switches the Joystick X axis to yaw and releasing it sets it back to roll

It's a great idea, but I don't think it can be done. You can use the S4 (or anything really) as a "shift" button, but only to add an extra function to the digital (on/off) switches. As far as I know, the analogue axis are not affected by pressing "shift" so can have no secondary function.

Happy to be educated that I'm wrong.

I am going to dig into this one a little bit more today.

also I am a moron! just found this...would have been a lot easier than ripping through the defines.h file!

These pdfs have all the info you need to program the buttons...DOH!!!!

ok I guess I am getting pretty good with target...that wasn't so hard.

I have updated the profile a bit

Changes:
1) S4 (Paddle button on Joystick) now toggles the Joystick X axis between yaw and roll (YOU MUST MAP THE YAW AXIS TO THE THROTTLE SLIDER FOR THIS TO WORK!!!)
2) S3 is now toggle flight assist
3) Lights on is now CMS left and CMS push is now for UI Focus
4) added a secondary Engine boost by pushing the speedbrake forward
5) swapped the Mic and Coolie hat so that strafe is on the coolie hat (which feels more natural to me to have strafe in the same direction as you are facing) and menus are on mic hat.

for the nerds:

MapKey(&Joystick, S4, SEQ(EXEC("MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYX, DX_SLIDER_AXIS);"),EXEC("MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYX, DX_X_AXIS);")));

I will break this down:

SEQ lets you map things so the first time you push the button it does the first thing and then the next time you push the button is does the next thing.

So the first time you push S4, it will fire off:

EXEC("MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYX, DX_SLIDER_AXIS);")

and map the JoyX axis to the throttle slider (which we have mapped to Yaw in the game)

the next time you push S4 it will fire off:

EXEC("MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYX, DX_X_AXIS);")

and set the JoyX axis back to where we have Roll mapped to in the game.

with this kind of command you could setup so 1 push sets the x/y to yaw/pitch and the 2nd push makes x/y go to strafe u/d/l/r

next I need to figure out how to get some nice curves going!

My Setup

Hi Guys,

I'm new to these forums and just tried to post this with the embedded image but got some message about my post needing to be checked by a moderator or something... Thought maybe it was because of the image so posting again with just a link. Maybe it's just because I'm a new member. either way I'm about to find out :)

I just got Premium Beta access this morning and spent a bit of time setting up a profile in Target (I don't do scripting just use the GUI).

Thought I'd post and let you guys know what setup I run with.
I have included pretty much all of the controls that are available to me in Alpha 1 (as that's all I have access to at the moment).
I also included a few that I think I'll need in the Beta (Frameshift, Hyperspace, Landing gear).

After flying around the asteroid field a bit I'm pretty happy with this setup.
Let me know what you think!

I also have a question. I can't seem to access the on ship menus (which I have dedicated the CMS switch on the stick to).
Were those menus not active in Alpha 1 or am I doing something wrong?

feedback: I like putting the UI Focus on the Mic Push, I might switch mine to do that. makes sense there.

can't wait to map those 'other' controls! (landing gear/hyperjump/etc!)

also re your question about CMS hat and menu controls, you must hit the panel you want to mess with one time to set focus to it and then you hit it again to unset focus from it.

I am going to add a 2nd push so when you hit the switches back they turn off focus on my profile to clear that condition up.

I've had a fiddle and it seems you need to select a panel for UI focus. The "UI Focus button" will only pull you out but it'll pull you out of any panel. Also realized the next and previous buttons are for sub menus not next/previous panels.

I still want to keep all Panel navigation on the Throttle hat and the the menu navigation on the CMS switch (So I can use both at the same time for speed).

So I'm thinking Hat Fwd=Target Panel, Hat Up=Radar Panel, Hat down=Sys Panel, Hat Back=UI Focus (back out) and Hat Press=UI Next (as the panels currently only have 2 tabs this works nicely as a toggle, might need to re-think and add UI Prev if more tabs are added)
