Yes, it is simple however confusing.
"2" does not return you to your normal view, it does activate communications, just look at the upper left. To return to your normal view, just press the same number a second time.

Or you can set a key to UI PANEL FOCUS, which acts as a return to normal view, when just pressed alone.

Noob probs with Joystick settings

Hi folks

Concerning Elite I am an oldie, having played the first version on a C64 a long time ago.
I bought the beta recently and then I bought a Hotas Joystick, because my old Sidewinder 2 didn't work with Win7 anymore.

I started the game, went into the Target Practice tutorial mission and used this to adjust my joystick control settings. After about half an hour I got everything as I wanted it...

BUT

After the next Beta Update, my settings were gone. Woot? :S :(

Resulting in my question: how can I save my joystick settings??

TIA for any hints.

I received my Hotas X last week. It's a great product for the money, nothing wrong with it but I returned it because in the end I prefer my Xbox 360 controller.
It takes less space on my desk (I need space to make notes ;) ), it's small so easy to grab en plug, it's less demanding concerning positioning at the desk (I can lean backwards) and it has all the buttons I need (I use combined (Shifted) buttons with it).

For immersion I don't need Hotas. I tell myself spaceships won't be controlled with antique newtonian devices :)

Funnily enough I'm thinking of going the other way from a 360 controller to a T-Flight hotas.

At the moment i use one of the analogue sticks on the controller to control up-down & left-right thrusters. can anyone tell me if there's a suitable analogue hat switch or equivalent that i could use to do the same on the T-Flight ?

I've got an x52 (in the loft) a 360 gamepad and an xbone pad at my disposal but at the moment I'm using keyboard and mouse. I'm thinking of setting up and using one of the gamepads is this wise or is general opinion in favour of HOTAS control methods?

How reliable are the X52 Pro?

I bought one and immediately sent it back. LEDs and the display were very bright but the moment you tried to turn them down all I got was an annoying flicker, rather distracting in a dimmed room playing a game with a predominantly dark monitor output.

I wonder if the quality of the Saitek stuff has dropped a lot? Many who have had their kit for years say it's fine, but there are many many reports on the net of more recent purchases that have problems.

Should I be brave and try again?

The flickering is not a bug its a feature - they call it disco LED light..... :D

Its a common problem with all X52 AFAIN... on mine the LED's are o.k. (I dont dimm them because I am o.k with them) but the flickering of the MDF display is really bad, I turn it complete off (but it get on again sometimes )

Also be aware that all X52 have problems with some USB 3.0 chipsets (f.e it is not recognized and you cant install the driver).... in this case use a USB 2.0 hub

Just invested in the X52 Pro after spending a few days tormenting myself with reviews and vids on YouTube. I'm so glad I took the plunge as it has seriously upped my game. Timing was perfect too as about 20 mins after I ordered it my old stick went **** up!

Now all I have to do is tweak my config until I find a set up I am really happy with.

agreed however we are missing two buttons. so i got some peddles and might repo them to be not peddles need left and right thrust.

This Joystick thread still seems pretty active so I might as well ask from some advice, instead of creating a new topic for help

I've a HOTAS setup, Saitek combat rudder, CH throttle pro and a Logitech Extreme 3D.

To cut a long story short, I wear down through my flight stick fast, all due to mechanical failure, loosing their resistance/stiffness or wearing down resulting it's unable to center back properly causing unwanted movement when the joystick is released. Calibration doesn't help because there is free movement possible with out any resistance.

I'm looking for a replacement joystick that can handle my physical punishment and is mechanically sturdy enough.

Any advice welcome.
