For lateral and vertical thrusters, you can use rudder pedals while you keep your hands on your throttle and stick. It's ideal and fun to use.

For the record if you did want multiple sticks then you can. I was using an old Thrustmaster stick with a DualShock 3 to control lateral thrusters, afterburner and a few extras to make up for my lack of Thrustmaster buttons

Anyone playing ED with Nostromo and Joystick??

I am having problems with ED recognizing my joystick after I install the Nostromo drivers.. Is there anyone else out there using a Nostromo and a Joystick combo?

If so how did you get yours to work or is my issue a special case?

Any help is appreciate as I can't find an answer anywhere..

No one really?

I have a Nostromo and was considering using it, but I've trimmed down the controls enough that I have all the immediate access ones on my FLY-5 and the ancillaries on the keyboard.

I did try the Nostromo in Star Citizen, but it borked my whole game and had to be uninstalled!

I don't use the Nostromo, but rather a Razor Orbweaver. I just bind keyboard keystrokes and macros to it and ED recognizes them fine.

I use VoiceAttack now for all the Orbweaver key binds, but still have it handy for backup in case a voice command doesn't register.

Do you also use a joystick? If so did that work fine?
Was it Orbweaver drivers or the razer synapse 2.0?

I use a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X and it works fine with the Orbweaver.

I use Razor Synapse 2.0.

Elite Dangerous does not list the Orbweaver in control options, but does recognize the keys/macros I have mapped to it.

I did use it in the alpha, when I had to unplug the throttle and pedals from my G940.
Fortunately they're all supported now so I don't need the n52pro.
However I don't use the drivers for it as battlefield wouldn't let me use two joysticks so I programmed the keys I wanted onto the pad and uninstalled its driver, so now it's seen as just a keyboard.
This does mean I have to set my keys to this much like a qwert, and can't profile switch, but it's never been much of a problem.

So let me get this right.. If I map the keys with the drivers and then install it will keep that profile? There is no built in memory to my knowledge so wouldnt it not keep the profile? :S

@Vandyl - lucky you man! ED doesn't list the Nostromo either it says keyboard mice, generic joystick, etc.. but the moment the synapse is installed the joystick still works, but ED doesn't recognize it anymore.

Hi
Just came across think stick: Speedlink Phantom Hawk.
Looks kind of nice, has 8 way coolie hat, a 4 function D-pad and 12 buttons, plus it's cheap 8)

Has anyone here used it? Looks alot better then the logitech stick i was planning to get (Extreme 3) and did i mention it's cheaper?

Regards.

The Phantom Hawk is a bit like a copy of the Saitek, and it"s really comfy and well built, the hats are really nice. Only one problem, you need to move it quite a bit for it to register. It"s like playing a fast paced PC game with a controller, unacceptable. Can't believe this went past testing...

Shame, such a waste, because it seemed to be the only alternative to a throttle-less Saitek equivalent with less bling.

I purchased a T.Flight. The cost was more realistic, but I'll probably "upgrade" sometime down the line (obviously when my wife isn't scrutinizing the bank account :D).

At the moment flying in ED has become more awkward with a HOTAS, mainly because I've been used to a Xbox 360 controller <spit>. The problem I have is whether to have yaw on the throttle and lateral thrust on the hat switch, or vice versa. I must admit, landing on an outpost is loads of fun with lateral thrust. Combat? I'm getting better, but is far worse than when I used an Xbox controller.

Hats off to those who can handle a HOTAS in ED.

Well, out of all those joystick only the T-16000M is worth the price. ;)

I used one for quite a bit and really the only downside of it is that the buttons aren't the best (they are some weird rubber "skin" and not actually hard buttons).

That is interesting, i have a T.16000 which has hard buttons, no weird "rubber" skin. Although I would still like it having more and better positioned buttons, and altogether be shaped a little bit better.

Tried the T.Flight Stick X or the T.16000?
Both seem to be good sticks. I think the T.Flight lies a bit better in my hand and I like that its force is adjustable.
Also I would like to have more buttons and hats on the stick.

Tried setting yaw on the third joystick axis?

Using a Hotas comes quite natural after a bit of time. It just takes training.
I love lateral thrust, and that is why I really like the CH Trottle's little joystick.

Ok, this seems like the place to ask a question...

Im using a logitech extreme pro under generic joystick configuration and keyboard for the rest and this works ok for me

However, whenever i go to the side panels using 1 or 4 and go back to forward view with 2 the throttle sticks, W, S have no effect. What i do is press escape and escape quickly and all is well. Im sure that the solution is quite simple but i find the bindings and set up quite baffling..

Any help would be appreciated guys. Not a big issue cos ive got used to it
