Yes, it does support the Warthog but it does suffer from the multiple imput device issue i.e. the 19 buttons on the stick are overwritten by the first 19 buttons on the throttle. 20 onwards on the throttle are unique however. It is quite simply the finest stick I have ever used, the degree of control is great and the throttle very precise.

You can use the TM TARGET software[1] in order to remap the buttons and axis to one big virtual joystick (8 Axis, 32 Buttons). If those buttons are not enough TARGET also allows you to layer button/axis mappings.

[1] I would go for the script editor, and only use the GUI at checking the "button names".

I use the Target GUI software that comes with the Warthog. Seems to work fine creating your own profile..all be it a bit fiddly and time consuming.

Hi, I also use the Warthog, and have mapped the buttons with Target. I have never used the script editor though, what do you mean by use the GUI at checking the button names?

One thing I'm am having a bit trouble with is the throttle. I'd like to use the main throttle for forward thruster, and the secondary throttle for reverse. I can't seem to get this to work, right now I have the two throttle locked and have ED set to forward only. how are you dealing with the thrusters set up?

Thanks!

Actually, TARGET comes in two flavours, a graphical editor and a script editor. The graphical editor put an icon on my desktop named "Target GUI". That's what I meant by "GUI".
However, if you are using the script editor you will do a lot of things like

MapKey(&T16000L, H1L, DX27);
MapKey(&T16000L, H1R, DX28);

For example the symbol H1L resembles a real button, and DX27 is a button on the virtual joystick. And sometimes you might not be sure how your source button is called so you have to look up the name somewhere. And the easiest way doing that is using the graphical editor. See the picture for clarification

My thrusters setup is by definition different from your's because I'm playing with a 2x T16000M setup. Nevertheless, I'm not sure if your idea is even possible. You might try mapping the two throttles onto the same throttle axis and see what happens. :)

i use the main throttle for forward throttle and have the grey circle on the stick *not the main hat* as a toggle for reverse...

Press it and use the main throttle to speed up reverse too.

Interesting, thanks rofekir!

Ps I ended up just mapping reverse as a toggle switch and it works ok, not like it's used much especially in combat.

Totally disagree with you. I currently I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro USB. It an oldie, I have owned it from new since the late 90s and it still going strong.
I've got one too. A classic. They are superb. They use light sensors instead of potentiometers so there isn't much to wear out (Microsoft replaced the optical sensors with potentiometers in the later Precision 2 to save money, and these do wear out).

I love mine. I'm just hoping all the buttons and controls work in ED.

Assuming they do, you could do a lot worse than picking one of these up on ebay for around a fiver (but avoid the Precision 2).

Help to configure warthog

Hello at all. Please, anybody can help me in order to configure warthog hotas buttons and axes with a correct layout. I am having problem with the axes and thrust control, it goes from -z to z making it very difficult to manage because 0% is in the middle point.
Can anybody give me a t.a.r.g.e.t script or the buttons&axis layout he/she is using? Where do you put the roll axis X?, and yaw Y?

I had read the posts about the problem with two controllers but that is not my problem. The problem is with my noob brain, not the controller.....

Thank you very much.

Ah, is there going to be a warthog preset in the game´s joystick setup screen?

Thanks again.

Hi Gustavor,

I've merged yout post into this thread in the hardware section. :)

Greetings...

Here is the split throttle config that does not use any throttle buttons and has all joystick buttons assigned. This should help with axis problems.

I use the Hotas Warthog with both Joystick and split throttle.
Download from Thustmaster.com support, Go to Technical Support link to (TM)
http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php ->Updates and Downloads
1.PC, 2.Joysticks, 3.HOTAS Warthog, 4.Software
Installs to desktop.

Click TARGET GUI opens T.A.R.G.E.T Command Center program, I have v.1.0.11.304
Now find +How do I? under Fly NOW! and select:
1. HOTAS Warthog Throttle buttons names, opens warthog_throttle.pdf.
2. HOTAS Warthog Joystick buttons names, opens warthog_joystick.pdf.

Thanks for this Valiant. I just picked up a Warthog today in anticpation of E:D. Last time I used joystick of any sorts was Frontier on the Amiga so I have some catching up to do :eek:

Quick question: I won't be using pedals (at least for the forseeable future) - is this config used for pedals or will it see me right without?

Thanks

I caved and ordered a Fighter Stick and Pro Throttle from SimWare (about the same gouging as Amazon UK but everything in proper stock). The X-55's (by the way to me its stick looks similar to the CH in shape and amount of buttons & hats) current list price is only 10 euros less than that and will remain unproven (not just in initial quality but durability over time also) for quite some time anyway, while this setup has been successful for a decade (?), will hopefully last longer and have better resale value because of that too, if needed. All that should make up for the lack of a twist axis and second throttle. I wonder how long it will take to arrive. Maybe I'll get some pedals for Christmas or something, if rudder or roll controls aren't quite cutting it with the analog stick.

Greetings

You can use peddles, but the yaw is slow no mater how hard you push. The HOTAS Warthog has no twisting joystick for yaw. I split my throttle and us the left for yaw.
Valiant out...

It would appear that my X52 is dying. The YAW is now permanently moving left a little, locking the stick doesn't help, so have to apply constant left YAW to conter it, not to great, and now the pinky/shift button has broken.

Bah. Hum. Bug.

Time to buy some torx screwdrivers and strip the stick. Sneaky of them putting the torx in there, 3 normal screws plus torx in the hand guard/hight doodaa.

Don't suppose anyone has had to fiddle with the stick innards before?

The original X52 has a very weak spring on the joystick coupled with potential issues with the potentiometer controlling the yaw axis. If you don't mind using a screwdriver you can use some electrical contact cleaner to sort it if it's drifting something I have had to do 4-5 times on my original X52. Don't get me wrong the stick is still functional but beware buying second hand..

X52 pro is a better stick in my opinion although the shortages are a bit concerning.
