Its about power play now because PVP crowd realises that currently that is their best bet. If they get that its open only BGS, then open only, then open only without block, them full loot pvp fest. And then game dies.
Why should Powerplay require event planning? It should be dynamic and organic in nature.Well us on the PVE side organise large scale events off into the black with no issue, what's the problem with the PvP community?

Forgive the double post but BGS Open only is something i think we can agree on as a fundamentally stupid ideaHave seen pretty much of that in this thread. BGS being open only is not a new idea.
Exactly, and because we already have all these factors limiting the opportunities to encounter people, we don't need to have any unnecessary ones effecting PP PvP. Thank you for supporting my point.Just like you are hiding in your own instance ?? It's a valid gameplay and even though you dislike it many others prefer it . BGS and PP could be RNG to many folk . It doesn't affect my gameplay / role that some smelly feds are now in charge of a system . I could be the enemy and still dock and trade or fill up my buckets faster than someone who thinks that blowing up commanders is emergent game play.
Instancing allows say 32 depending on the connection . So 10,000 players in elite would mean 312 opens . Now imagine being number 33 a new instance is brought noone around but by your definition the other 32 are in solo . But to the other 32 the majority you are hiding on solo or PG . You see the problem that's why I even have difficulty in expressing elite as a MMO . I see it more of a could possibility that you may meet some one but that possibility is in the 10% mark if that . So open isn't open it is a fallacy it's a low possibility of maybe instancing with someone .
I've been saying this for years when it comes to open only debate .
It may be a fallacy to you, but to others, it is real. Ground given up is unlikely to be recovered, and once ceded it brings the next piece of ground within reach of being ceded.Slippery slope fallacy is a fallacy for a reason
No it's not a fallacy to me. It is by academic definition a fallacy. It may be a fallacy to you, but to others, it is real. Ground given up is unlikely to be recovered, and once ceded it brings the next piece of ground within reach of being ceded.
Steve, I can tell you that Open only and the OG California were one of the earliest threads here back in the day - and to date no ground has been given up in terms of modes. It may be a fallacy to you, but to others, it is real. Ground given up is unlikely to be recovered, and once ceded it brings the next piece of ground within reach of being ceded.
It's better to argue on the present ground than consider a whole slippery slope at once... but we have seen all the things in the example demanded in this thread, right down to the removal of block. So being concerned about them isn't a fallacy. It may be a fallacy to you, but to others, it is real. Yes. We have seen all of that. Okay that full loot PVP as far as I know has not been suggested. It's better to argue on the present ground than consider a whole slippery slope at once... but we have seen all the things in the example demanded in this thread, right down to the removal of block. .... because it requires other players - and the galaxy is big so there's no guarantee that there will be any opposing players playing nearby at that time. Why should Powerplay require event planning? It should be dynamic and organic in nature.
Also if I have a couple of hours spare to play the game and I want to pvp powerplay opponents, what should I do? Can't exactly organise a mass fight in that timeframe.. I guess I have to go to Deciat/Sol/Shin and see who turns up...
Remembering Sandro's Flash Topic where he clearly stated that Powerplay was the only game feature on the list of possible candidates for Open only, only for repeated calls for the BGS, CGs, etc. to also be made Open only - both in the same thread and thereafter. It's better to argue on the present ground than consider a whole slippery slope at once... but we have seen all the things in the example demanded in this thread, right down to the removal of block. So being concerned about them isn't a fallacy.
Only possibly when reviewed after all the changes were made. It might be quite accurate rather than fallacial.Slippery slope fallacy is a fallacy for a reason
Err yes it was, PvP was a core part of why Powerplay was added to the game in the first place, Sandro said it himself:. No your point isnt being supported it never was . PP isn't PvP it doesn't have anything to do with PvP. You complain about folk using PG and solo but you have no actual proof . I didn't see them they must be cheating is the cry .
It's not fair I want to blow up the bad commanders but they won't let me . Your insistence that it would benefit your game is what it comes down to . In the end you are entitled to hide in your instance and complain about how unfair it is .
Just like I did with consoles. If itakes you feel better I'm still sore at that .
And that in a nutshell is why players go to Deciat to shoot at other players (the solution to this issue is in my signature that doesn't force any PvE'ers into open or change their gameplay btw)..... because it requires other players - and the galaxy is big so there's no guarantee that there will be any opposing players playing nearby at that time.
Typically noobs are tricked as game defaults to open mode. No compulsory reason to go to Deciat in open. And basically last thing certain PVP'ers want is competent and able opposition. They have that opportunity even now.And that in a nutshell is why players go to Deciat to shoot at other players (the solution to this issue is in my signature that doesn't force any PvE'ers into open or change their gameplay btw).
Yep a cracking place to top up the block list for the times i do go in OpenThe service is still provided by Gankers.Org
In fact going down the list you can see who's Seal clubbing in Deciat and who's doing FdL vs FdL in Puppis.
It never gets old, last excuse of the ganker with no targets"hiding in solo"
Offering opportunities for consensual PvP is not the same as forcing any player to engage in PvP.Err yes it was, PvP was a core part of why Powerplay was added to the game in the first place, Sandro said it himself:
