Just curious, any permits come down with the recent Big Reveal (tm)? Also, are Guardians alive now (or just a different kind of Thargoid after all...)?

If this was to open up the possibility of making contact with a peacefulish Thargoid faction/exploring Thargoid space (or ditto for Guardians) might jump back in again, but if it is just levelling the rock-shooting engineering playground for more pew pew, well, whatevers.

So... Ship logs in the aftermath of today might be interesting if you like on foot tharg encounters....

Nothing Raxxla based I can think of....

Discovered my AX Krait had a 1A fuel scoop... So long since I've flown it... That took a while to get there...

Damn angry space lettuces out there if you are going...

Warning to all. Interdictions in thargoid systems (by players) effect you as though they were thargoids (power shuts down) allowing them to pretty much one shot science / explorer vessel builds.

You need a fast ship and boost with FA off for the shutdown... Damn Thargs appear quite quick anywhere in the system... Haven't tried the shutdown neutraliser as my bindings have been wiped and muscle memory is bad with my new hotas...

I had a Tharg interceptor almost keep up with me with continual boosting of 531... And the mass lock is a pain...

It was a player that pulled me out though, and on playstation.

No thargoids around, player came out from behind the planet and knocked me out of super cruise.

Well, visited both Thor's Helmet Sector FB-X C1-5 and Seagull Sector DL-Y D3 (anarchy). Checked out the belt clusters in the former (nothing) & got some Trinkets in the latter.
@Pyroboros : Seagull Sector DL-Y D3 was interesting- it has one comet but tried several times & couldnt drop into the instance so always a couple of hundred metres away & it kept moving away from me (while being pestered by a pirate). There were also a couple of bodyids which crashed the game, even when bookmarked. And a few which I didnt check out, before Hell’s Port, which I think was bodyid 17. With only 3 stars, one planet and an asteroid station there’s something strange with this system! I’ll paste the spreadsheet in here later, when lunch has digested & I get back briefly to the PC before the afternoon heat arrives. Siesta time!...

Edit: I would go back and check the other body search criteria for more comets, but with my hand/wrist problems I was having a painful time trying to avoid the pirates who were after my Trinkets, and I want to check out some bubble comets with those!
Has anyone checked for comets in Sirius?

Do Thargs react to trinkets or sap8?

Have not tried since update 13, but before that goids ignored sap8 and trinkets. Only Guardian stuff, Goid stuff and escape pods (all stuff with non-standard cargo container models) seemed to give a reaction if memory serves.

Speaking on Secret Content.

Here's the thing about Proteus.
Proteus was a King and Sea-God on the island, Pharos, that neighbored Alexandria and its famed library in ancient Egypt.
At the time the lighthouse was considered a wonder of the world. If memory serves me right, at the time it was the first actual lighthouse.

Alexander the Great inherited Egypt, deemed Son of God/Amun-Ra/Zeus-Amon, by Amun-Ra himself.

Salvation wiped out the Alexandria.

I called this connection out three years ago, based on clues within Tau Ceti.
Alexander the Great was the key.

Food for thought?
I was ruminating over the old (deleted in 2016) Shinrarta E/F mssions, wondering if they might have been deleted because either they were total red herrings and FD decided when that came to light there would be just too much salt, or whether they were actually supposed to be clues but were perhaps deemed to be too revealing (or more likely that nobody was getting their meaning).

Now those missions apparently (I never got chance to partake, but see OP) involved stealing/delivering crystals - either SAP8 or Trinkets of Hidden Fortune were involved. If they were red herrings then there is nothing to be inferred, however iff they were clues then maybe there is...maybe they were a hint we need the crystals to open the Omphalos Rift to find Raxxla? Should we carry them when dropping into a comet, or should we shoot them to open the container and get the crystal to scan? Did anybody try opening the containers?

Both commodities are only available through piracy- for SAP8 they had to be pirated from an elite corvette military courier escorted by elite fighters in civil war/unrest systems, a top-end combat mission. Trinkets had to be pirated from a trader in Thor's Helmet Sector FB-X C1-5 or Seagull Sector DL-Y D3, both of these are around 3,500ly from the bubble so clearly an exploration mission, and would have been top-end at the time before extended jump range engineering came into play. “Trinkets are a very rare commodity that are strictly prohibited in almost every system” - why? I suspect to make carrying them even more difficult! And where are they not prohibited? Trinkets while rare appear to drop regularly in two systems away from the bubble-there seems to be no logic behind this other than to make it a very long personal journey! (Though see my previous post about comets in Seagull Sector DL-Y D3)...

Trinkets can supposedly also be found in Plendovii, but I don’t know when that came into effect...perhaps after the E/F missions were deleted?

Now looking at the first page of this thread which Macros compiled, the final E/F mission, entitled “what was lost will soon be found”, is interesting. Ostensibly a “Particular band of intrepid explorers, adventurers and well ... thieves” wanted you to recover a black box from one of their lost ships. The description of that band IMHO is highly reminiscent of the codex’s description of TDW as “a legendary group of adventurers, explorers, investigators and treasure-hunters”, and Ive been dropping hints for a while that description might cover pirates/thieves as ‘adventurers & treasure hunters’. That mission had the band as LTT 16456 Resistance; I suspect they were selected at random as the mission giver but it may not have been random. Since the missions are long gone we cannot do any analysis of the mission giver(s) for that particular mission. At the beginning of this week I travelled to and became allied with LTT 16456 Resistance, but nothing seemed to come of it. Though admittedly I became distracted on other matters so maybe I should go back and see what their TO and/or chained missions turn out to be....

But I am hypothesising that this was the point of those missions, and maybe the TDW storyline (if there is/was one) was to highlight the need for piracy to obtain these crystals. Unlikely to need both, one is elite combat, the other elite exploration, both combined with piracy.

I think those missions were foreshadowing the Guardians and of course hinting at secret groups operating in the shadows. The description of the Sap8 containers sound very guardian like.
The first guardian ruin was found by data mining and the story didn't play out as intended. There may have been a role for the trinkets and Sap8s in ED's plans.

Trinkets appear in many systems in my experience as cargo of wanted ships. I've picked them up at CNBs in the past, though you have to be fast to scoop them up before other NPCs swoop in (have you noticed that NPCs cheat on scooping speed?)

The only function they have in game that I'm aware of is to elicit messages of respect from NPC's. I had them interdict me on a mission run whilst I was carrying Trinkets and got a message along the lines of " sorry didnt meant to bother one of the big guys" (not the exact text , but the gist of it) and said NPC then wake out without attacking me.

Sap8 containers are described in detail in this thread - they are a secure containment vessel that self distructs if tampered with. They look like ordinary cargo containers but with some extra controls? No-one's ever opened one to my knowledge. Shoot them, and they go bang. Bump into them they go bag, etc. Not many types of interaction to try, though I guess if you knew who the recipient was then taking them to the right recipient might do something..

The missions you reference were handed out by many factions - this may have been a bug, as people were able to get them in other systems other than shindez. So unlikely the giving faction is a lead, seems to me.

I did wonder if the E/F missions were the fabled test, since they cover several different modes of play style - maybe if you can complete them all then you werent meant to be on the invite list. I suspect FD were suprised how many people were doing them all so soon..

The first one was found from a Promo image having its background stars mapped and correlated and they deduced the location from the Skybox. You cannot Datamine content within remote systems as its not included Client side until generated Server-Side which doesnt happen until the system is either visited by a Commander of System Information is bought for said system.
