September Summary for #fight-the-club

In September we did fewer, more difficult operations in systems with active player factions and significant traffic. Since June 1, we have removed 19 Club factions from systems representing 2.4 billion people. Significantly, this month, Club faction Sirius Mining Merope - which at one point was active in seven systems, now exists only as a zombie faction in Merope.

We're pleased to announce that squadron Close Encounter Corps, led by CMDR @AntonyVern [СЕС] have joined the fight against the Club. Besides their help in the campaigns in Pleiades Sector PD-S b4-0, Hemaki, and Wolf 202 - working with a large squadron has led to a number of improvements to the discord, which will be valuable when other squadrons join the fight.

Gains & Losses

  • Sirius Mining Merope removed from system Pleiades Sector PD-S b4-0.
  • Aegis Research removed from system Pleione.
  • Pleiades Resource Enterprise removed from Delphi.
  • Sirius Hot2Cold removed from system Hemaki.
  • Sirius Hyperspace removed from system Wolf 202.
  • Mysterious new holdings in 42 N Persei removed from Club faction PRE.
  • Delphi confirmed as home system for Aegis Research and Janus Incorporated.

  • CQC Holdings expanded to Guttun.

Active Campaigns

Daik - Sirius Hyperspace (Close Encounter Corps + Pleiades Historical Society)

Squadron & Discord

PLEIADES HISTORICAL SOCIETY [PLOR] formed in August to explore the mysteries of the Pleiades, and to combat regional factions affiliated with The Club: Aegis Research, Janus Incorporated, Pleiades Resource Enterprise, and Sirius Mining Merope. The mystery of HIP 22460 is of particular interest, including The Black Flight, Megaship Overlook, and the involvement of Pleiades Resource Enterprise.

All commanders interested in fighting the Club are welcome to join the discord at https://discord.gg/PdaCsRA.

I guess if i were to pick a mythological link to Mother of Galaxies these days it would be Rhea (Daughter of Gaia)

Rhea is the Mother of the Gods... The myth of how she saved baby Zeus from being swallowed by Cronos incorporates both the Omphalos as well as the Galaxy.
Rhea wraps a stone in swaddling clothes and pretends to give it milk ... it spills and becomes the Milky Way... from mothers milk (Galaxias being Ancient Greek for Milk).
The stone Rhea used is apparently often described as the Omphalos stone that became the "navel of the world".

As to the Jewel on the brow... I got nothing .. I suppose it could be the Omphalos itself?

The Jewel Box Cluster is roughly 6k Ly from Sol (just saying) But between there and sol, about 250-300 Ly is the Coal Sack nebula, and I have reason to believe that is the general location of what we are looking for.

ITs an in game RP attempt to remove Sirius (affiliated at least to The Cub in novels) from power. It will probably all turn out to be connected one day.

Caine Massey - the relevant details are:

A lot of 'crashed' ships have Caine Massey containers.
A lot of 'crashed' ships show signs of combat before crashing.
Some of them show signs of maybe Thargoid weapons.

So assuming Thargs did shoot them down and assuming it was because of linked to Caine Massey.....(and this is as far as most people got)

The Thargs didnt pick up or destroy the Caine Massey containers?

1. They didnt know about them, it wasnt linked?
2. They dont have the ability to pick up from surfaces (proven untrue) or to destroy surface object (proven untrue)

Which leaves one possibility, that most people didnt pick up on. And is the answer as it turns out.

Do you think it could be a red herring? It's weird how it says that the resemblence was eventually discredited. I wonder how it was discredited. I'd also like to know if it's just a coincidence that there is a real life story with the same name or the author of the codex knew. I had a look into the failed author in galnet archives. He wrote a series of books called the corsair King which again there is a real life book of the same name. The real life version is about a pirate. The corsair king is also a game of thrones character which seemed interesting. The in game author does a runner after his fans keep demanding he changes the narrative to suit them 😀😀
I'm having trouble following your reasoning here. In the Codex the book is called "Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars". How does the Corsair King come into it?

Sir Philip Sydney's poem is call Astrophel and Stella. Astrophel means star-lover. Its not a children's story for sure and its not about or connected to a princess. It always seemed to me to be one of those Google coincidences. Certainly there have been many theories about it but none convincing. I wonder if its possible that its a book cipher as its a large text of which there are only I think 2 variants easily obtainable. To apply it as one would require a cipher text , usually numeric in nature. I dont think we have a candidate for that.

It would be unkind, to say the least to give what is a very direct hint about gg8's and then to wave it off as a fake. On the otherhand if we asume that the base in And Here The Wheel is one of TDW bases, then it wouldn't fit the 8th moon bit either.

I'm sure that a thorough search of the Lanaest/Grandamort area was performed previously - perhaps someone could pipe up and say what was searched etc.

Theres a lot in the Codex thats unsourced or left open.

Some people assume that means a Google search of history will help, some don't assume this at all, some assume the opposite, some people probably think something else, some people at Frontier are probably laughing at us all :)

Its possible that all in-game non-referenced sources are either unsourced or refer or hint at other in-game narrative or lore. Its perfectly possible that the 2 authors introduced in the game are one and the same person, its also possible that the one we do know about is meant to say that authors exist in game and that the Codex entry is meant to stay in-game if not sourced. That its just another in-game author but is meant to be taken at face value, ie the relevant info is that the theory is discredited.(retcon or correction or pointer).

Personally I take the Codex as the retconned version of events, if it says its discredited its because thats now not the story. Looked at that way its quite good at saying what isnt true anymore, from all the rumours over all the years, and what may still be.

Unless it turns out to be written as propaganda, in which case the opposite is true. Look at what it discredits instead :)

The post I was replying to mentioned an ingame author (olav) in whose career is detailed in galnet. Olav wrote a book called the corsair King in game. I was just showing that there is a real life book also called corsair King which is about a pirate. Wasn't really making much of point just elaborating on it.

In terms of the codex I was meaning the fdev employee who wrote it. Was he aware of the Stella and astrophile real life story. It seems quite a reach considering how unknown the story is. It says in the codex (which I'm considering all its perspective as ingame) that the similarity between the Princess Astrophril and the spiralling stars story with raxxla was discredited. I was wondering how that in game discrediting happened. What exactly is the codex referring to. What event. It seems weird to mention it and then say it was discredited.

I am starting to think that All that is required is galnet and the in game information to solve raxxla. The real life stuff like God's and real life stories have maybe even hampered the search as it open everything up to so much more interpretation.

I’m investigating Lacaille 9352 at the moment (reasons!)

I like where this is heading, perhaps we're being nudged to choose sides in a broader galactic conflict or guided to investigate certain factions more closely?

ENGINEER LINKED TO TERRORIST WEAPONS
Pilots Federation ALERT: For the attention of all Commanders
Conflict between Keltim Empire League and Eurybia Blue Mafia in the Eurybia system.
Explosive devices used in recent terrorist attacks on four Imperial starports have been linked to Liz Ryder, an engineer based in the Eurybia system.

I'm still suspicious of those tattoos...

So, interesting find on the 8th Moon of System well within the bubble.
  1. A Crashed Ship - Anaconda
  2. The Ships Data Core - Scanned (nothing?)
  3. Thargoid Sensor
  4. Interesting Crates
Crashed Anaconda - Ship Data Core

Thargoid Sensor

Brewer Corp. - There was one Wine canister lying around... See below for links to similar crates.

Caine-Massey. - Anything unusual, or have people seen this before at other crash sites? See below for links to similar crates.

I couldn't re-scan the Ship's Data Core even after closing Elite and re-starting, but I don't know if that's usual or not so if anyone can clarify what's expected there that'd be great! I might have to come back with a corrosive rack to pickup the Thargoid Sensor... :)

It also seems like Galaxy > System Descriptions might actually have some in-game alignment (who'd have thought), I found this after getting curious with the description I noted, so I'm hoping the others I'm investigating might also turn up some interesting stuff.

Then I was forced off the game for an update - so will have to wait to explore further later!!

Edit: Did some follow-up research and the boxes sound the same as those from the Colonia Crash Site and Orrere Crashed Ship. So could be re-used graphics, or leading us to investigate Brewer Corp and Caine-Massey more?

Fly Dangerously!
/ Ra

Oh, I just realised my screenshots didn't have the system! Sorry!

It's Skeggiko O B 8 - there are 3 Human Signals, Cabot's Inheritance, Hewish's Inheritance, and the Crashed Ship.

This was the text that lead me to explore the 'far reaches' of the system.

With google searches comes Cruel tricks of fate with players creativity going into places devs didn't know existed.
With my experience of Valve and their args, straw grasping for Half life clues had it's drawbacks, because the name Gordon Freeman, is not unique to Half Life, and one of the portal 2 potatoes arg, was interpreted in such a way it led to an old text which had the name Gordon Freemen, coincidence???? Well actually, yet it was.
There is even an author called Gordan freeman, (https://www.amazon.com/Gordon-R.-Freeman/e/B0037E3TR2?ref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share)

Coincidence, life imitating art, dev's can cruely read public messageboards and slip in snippets of fans headcanon/theories into the game forming a weird bias-confirmed-feedback-loop.
The original portal team did this when they saw a fan who noticed the initials for Apeterure Science - A S, was the initials for Adrian Shepherd from Half Life opposing forces, and sneakily (very late into the production) altered the colours of the letters on the keyboards that both AS's had in common on all keyboards in the first portal game, which just poured gasoline on the fire because people started to wonder why were 4 keys in "orange"...oh look it's the same letters needed to spell out Adrian Shepherd.

I pitch my latest rendtion on my 2 year old Raxxla/Odyssey theory as I saw how the Scylla system lies next to Liz Ryder the engineer (Ryder family having dark wheel connections) who fell out with the family business when she made connections to the Eurybia Blue Mafia - and NOW they are active in creating Thargoid Weapons in a marlinist attacks (being an oxymoron as Marlin promoted pacaficim and co-operation) - Coincidence????? Yeah probably......

I thought the same, but "-phile" means "lover", "-phel" means "cork".
On a side note, if you LISTEN to the Codex entry for Raxxla, Astrophel has a peculiar pronounciation. It's pronounced A-strophel (accent on the O), not Astro-phel. Don't know if it means anything, I just found it unusual.
In the case of Philip Sidney, both "-phile" and "-phel" were used with the same meaning.

Star cork could also work though. :giggle:

Star Cork - uncork and drink 12 bottles of Lavian Brandy at a Black Hole, dock at the nearest Fleet Carrier, wait 3 months and see what happens / where you are when you wake up?

I get hooked on those. Some are definitely tied to in-novel stories or lore. Some are connected to pmf descriptions or faction descriptions. Some seem to point at a certain system (those around Shin Des). Some are maybe tied to events that maybe happened in GalNet, or past in game events.

Which leaves some, I love them but boy are they confusing and annoying with no solid lead.....yet.

the one you show, my first thought is, is there an illegal installation or a pirate / anarchy installation orbiting one of the far planet?

Anything on the logs from the crashed ship? Inbox message? Still there are re-log? If not just flavour , you still get the money for handing in the data.

Oh, and look around nearby systems in GalMap, you may well find a few similar descriptions. I do love them and theyre easy to miss especially when more than 1 jump and dont bother looking at GalMap every jump.

and NOW they are active in creating Thargoid Weapons in a marlinist attacks (being an oxymoron as Marlin promoted pacaficim and co-operation)

Theres no actual proof of that. So far we have Empire saying they have evidence that 4 cargo ships docked from NMLA....we havent seen even that yet. Im never sure how much we are just supposed to take at face value for story without any evidence and how much we are supposed to question or 'see through'. We only have the one version and the reply / denial from the Marlinists, nobody from the NMLA has officially commented on this aspect, yet.
