To keep it on topic, SC/SQ42 as a game has a long enough script to be a book, from someone with aspirations to be in film, but is shaping up to be none of the aforementioned.
It's a book, it's a film, it's a play... I'll be Una Stubbs, you can be Lionel Blair!
To be fair - I am one of those who believed for ED 'vertical slice' theory, all thanks of considerable vacuum of information during second half of 2014 - mostly because FD was just building their community team. Basis of my belief was because David used this term to describe Alpha builds. We had little to no information what will end up in 1.0. We weren't aware of seasons nor what will come in 2015. I don't think we haven't been critical towards FD about this. Only remedy was FD really showed continued efforts for game during 2015, and that mitigated some of disappointment.
So Star Citizen gets quick time events for scanning now? Whoa, groundbreaking! I am so immersed!
"Golf club scanning". A QTE they want to add to the ga.. er, tech demo.
The part that's interesting to me is about changes to the flight model: https://youtu.be/50Jk-mQ9_pw?t=13m30s
According to the guy working on the FM, ships are gonna be less "instantaneous" than before and "have more character", which is good. Now let's see if they mess it up again.
Heh - CR this chat interface has to go I promise you!
Months later late 2016 - chat interface still there.
I want to post a CR wavy hands gif now....
It's a game, it's a pre-alpha, it's a tech demo

First word....
It's amazing it took so long to get answers and the backers SPIT on the guy who got them. Seeing the likes of the INN crowd sneering about "journalism" and "research" was almost adorable in it's stupidity.
Over and over again in those articles are the very same things we've all been saying in these threads for years while being interrupted by marketing videos and blind allegiance to the power of 90s nostalgia.
Still, thanks for pointing out this stirring bit of Star Marine puffery from Ben Lesnick, Developer:
“EEee-yeah it’s very team based… but uh… it… it’s still that kinda FPS experience… definitely you fighting other PEOPLE. Uhh… I… I… I think it’s more than just the GAMEPLAY with STAR CITIZEN, it’s more… we have all these people behind the IDEA of doing FPS differently… an-ya-nuh nobody goes into… the latest BATTLEFIELD er… BATTLE… I keep calling… CALL OF DUTY saying, ‘oh what, what kind of technological improvement is it’, it’s more… you know…
I don’t know where I’m going with this…
But…
Duh… it… it feels like we have all these people with a FULL UNDERSTANDING of what goes into the GAME, ah… we… I think… which helps you a lot“
Oh yeah. That's not coming out in 2016.

It seems it applies to several elevators in the game
If you look me up in the Gamma discussion, you will see I was one of these vertical slicers. I was convinced, due to my own imagination, that there would be a ton more to the game.I came late to the forums, but even in the couple of weeks after launch day, the repercussion on the "missing fabled internal build" was still white hot... Some people never learn :/
Shame they're repeating the 1.5 million backers nonsense.
I do feel they rather overplay Derek's role in all this and misinterpret his aim. He's simply not the boogieman, or at least he's not very good at being old - no insult intended, better not to be one.
Otherwise seems a fair round-up - so now four years on we're finally starting development? OK everyone restart the clocks! 2020's not looking so bad
