Third Anniversary Animal

I mentioned the Red-Footed Tortoise up thread, do people think smaller tortoise species would be better as habitat or exhibit animals?
Red footeds are big enough to be habitat animals. And a small to medium sized tortoise would be something id pick over another giant one in a heartbeat. Red footed, radiated and leopard tortoises all add more variety to the game than the spurred tortoise would.

Same reason why id prefer the slender snouted or west african crocodile over the nile. We got 3 huge crocodilians, 1 tiny and 1 smallish one, would be neat to have something medium sized instead of another giant.

All just my opinion ofc

Between the Slender-Snouted and West African Crocodiles, I'd prefer the former. I have a soft spot for the Slender-Snouted Crocodile, as I've seen one often at Busch Gardens Tampa.

I want the Nile crocodile. Idc how standard looking it is. Is iconic and i need it for my African sections.

As a reptile person, a reptile or selection of reptiles would be great for an anniversary gift, maybe 3 habitat and 1 exhibit animal, all of which would be reptiles, a croc, a lizard, a turtle/tortoise and a snake. My dream if this scenario were to happen would be the following:

Nile Crocodile (H)
Perentie (H)
African Spurred/Sulcata Tortoise (H)
King Cobra (EX)

All of which are requested and are pretty easy to make, Nile Croc and Spurred Tortoise scream ZT2 to me, the Perentie would be great for arid Australia representation, and the King Cobra needs no introduction.
I could actually see them doing that considering those picks are pretty simple to make. The croc and tortoise are just a simple reskin and tge perentie just has slightly longer proportions than the water monitor which shouldn't be too hard to do.

There are a lot of animals that I would like to see in the game. I know some are pretty unlikely to show up here

I leave my list with some of them. I hope that the third anniversary animal leaves the list that I have put :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
  • Tasmanian Devil (EN)

I think a coyote would be cool! Would definitely fit in the small zoos I like to build, and I love more NA representation. Coyotes can live in many different environments which will help make them fun to build for.

I think anniversary animals are hard, on one hand they must be easy for frontier to make, and on the other they could be an animal that base game needs. We don’t have a lot of anniversary animals to use for examples, just the black ruffed lemur and the red deer. I still think it could be an animal that uses the walkthrough exhibit, as base game users still have no use for it. I can imagine they use the walkthrough to tease a bird dlc, like have the budgies be a base game animal, then give a dlc with other larger bird species. Im still partial for a bird as an anniversary animal, as base game could really use another bird.

Here are some birds I think could be an anniversary animal, but I’m trying to keep it to animals that can reuse rigs:
  1. American Flamingo, basic option but if base game has three lemurs it can have two flamingos.
  2. Golden Pheasant, very pretty and gives us another use for the peacock rig. I wouldn’t be opposed to other pheasant species either, like a Lady Amherst’s.
  3. The Rhea would be cool, another base game ratite but it gives us SA representation.
  4. Maybe another Penguin like the Humboldt Penguin, it wouldn’t take away from the Africa Pack and it’s not a heavily requested bird. More SA representation too!
  5. Maybe a crane like the Wattled Crane or the Whooping Crane, it wouldn’t take away from the wetlands pack. I can see how the Red Crowned Crane has its own appeal.

While I would love some sort of reskin bird (like an ocellated turkey made from a peafowl, or a new flamingo) or a tortoise, I must admit I am quite taken with the idea of getting a quokka as an anniversary animal. Now that they are kept in at least one zoo in Europe, as well as ones in Japan and their native Australia, they are much more on my radar. They have a lot going for them - they would add a third macropod, this one of small stature compared to the medium-sized wallaby and large kangaroo. They are listed as Vulnerable, so have a conservation story to tell. They would also represent an almost blank part of the map, being endemic to the Southwest Australia biodiversity hotspot. And finally, they are just unbelievably cute.

It would just really annoys me that one of two oceanian base game animals is a Quokka. I feel like it'd be so confusing for people with just base game why that's their only Aussie rep over a Koala or kangaroo.

If its not too unique of animations or anything? I'd like:

the Bush Dog. It's not my most wanted of canids... but if we got a Bush Dog, I'd be glad in that it'd represent an unique type of canid. They really look unlike any other dog!

I’ll give my take on this. I don’t think it’s going to be Pallas cat, takin, any species of bear, and definitely not the Tassie Devil. All of them are too popular and would fit into a Highlands or Tundra pack. We’ll probably get the Spectacled Bear in one of the next two packs so the anniversary can’t be a bear. My top 3 predictions for what it’s going to be;
  1. Masai Giraffe; Easy to make and is visually striking compared to the giraffe we have. Plus I’d love to see a giraffe with the quality we have now.

  2. Bat Eared Fox; Yes another fox making the total 4 but at least this one is very different and unique.

  3. Another Species of Otter; We haven’t had an otter in a while, and everyone loves otters. My personal choice of subspecies would be North American River Otters.

Definitely something relatively easy to make.
Something like the Masai Giraffe or Grevy's Zebra seem like obvious choices but the amount of effort it would take to make them could be deceiving. Rigs, animations, sounds, etc. would be the same but their patterns would take quite a lot of time, not to mention the distinctive mane of the zebra.

I would quite like a Tufted Capuchin or an American Flamingo for the sake of increasing the monkeys' or birds' diversity, respectively.

My dream is for the Large Spotted Genet, who I fell in love with after seeing one recently in a zoo, or the Gray fox.

If either of those made it in... I'd be so very thankful! The Fox would complete canid diversity and the Genet is an unexpected/unique yet good/versatile choice...

ETA personal notes: I saw a genet as well (at what may or may not be a "questionable" zoo even though the animals seem well loved). They are very cool looking! I also have paw print of a Grey Fox. The place I saw the genet at has paw prints in their gift shop and I definitely would have bought a genet's, like I said they're cool looking. They at the time only had kangaroos/bushbabies/otters prints.

I have a feeling that the next animal is gonna be more in depth than most are anticipating. I mean, I don't think anyone expected the red deer last year, most said it be to much for a simple clone, bit low and behold.
