Time frames on pulling the plug?

It was never just a spaceship game. Legs have been there since the KS.
Who said anything about legs, which is in its own sad little buggy state. And yeah this is a space ship game that has not added a ship in years. Compared to its competitors that's pretty sad. Now if the stable is complete then the company should make that fact known.

If the fundamental and exciting changes aren't in some way related to the Stargoids Frontier have been trailing since the launch of Aftermath, I'll eat my hat.

But just to be on the safe side, would someone like to bake me a hat?
Based on FDevs track record you might want to get some tasty BBQ sauce for that hat.

Frank Chadwick wanted to outsource it, to focus on his projects. So, it went to Digest Group.
Digest Group Publications were winding up in '94, moving onto their AI game (which never got finished and released). They dropped their Traveller coverage - GDW started the New Era / Star Vikings rubbish which thankfully is no longer canon. Still, it's nice to see FFE finally resurrect the Omnesium Quest/Manhunt from the original files, via tech archaeology.

Apart from the new Thargoid one.

Frontier have confirmed at least three more patches for Live and Legacy, or just for Live?

That's always assuming plans don't change of course.

Just for Live. Its clear Legacy is now being left to languish, which is the point.

The concern raised was for the future of ED. Live will move forward, and there is much rejoicing!

We were talking at cross purposes then, as I was clearly talking about 3.8.

3.8, Legacy, is just like Robin's minstrels, when times became hard, they were devoured by the rest :)

Oh, yeah, 3.8 is exactly what FD have said it would be. Dead in the water. Somewhere for people to play who are fine with a more or less static universe and no patches.

It's not a spaceship game, that's why it also has legs. Spaceships had their time, legs are having their time now. Who knows, maybe cars will be next. Point is, it's not a spaceship game, never was.

There probably will be new ships in the future. There will probably also be new foot content in the future. I'm looking forward to seeing ships on water worlds. As long as the game goes on. Because it's not a spaceship game.

If they added on-foot Thargoids - it might have been interesting, but the FPS part of Odyssey is terrible. Exploring abandon settlements was fun, until you run out of space to collect all the things that are there and nothing to use them for. So another oversight.
Than there is you on an deserted planet, not that much different than beeing in SRV.
If they added flyable ship interiors, you could have at least walk in your ship, but yea, that's not happening either.

Odyssey was a mistake. Seems like they understood it, and are moving back to Space content with their current narrative. Hopefully new flyable ships in the future, but yeah, not holding my breath after 4 years break.
As far as I'm aware it's not possible to have ship interiors due to the way the game code works. It's only possible on Fleet Carriers because they're mostly stationary (and they're always upright too). You cannot move about in Fleet Carriers when they're jumping, for example.

So no, ship interiors won't happen.

What else would you expect on a deserted planet?

What ships do you need?

LOL. You use materials you find in settlements to engineer your gear.
Whereas walking around in ships for no reason would get very old, very fast.

Honestly water worlds seem a no brainer, I am amazed they didn't add them yet. simple enough surfaces to do, a few fun shaders hinting at stuff below the surface, some basic weather effects, and landable oil rig type structures. Done.

Just don't try taking your ship for a swim.
