For Colerind, we want TDW to win the invasion to just "be there" (is 3-2 today) and then we will leave that system alone to settle down, so as to not interfere with a deal the Plague (PMF) has with Hudson Power Play. More info on "what to do there" after all that is sorted out.

Looks like your question got answered over on the discord server :)

And it looks like the Coelrind war is all wrapped up, update to the orders is a tomorrow item. In the meantime, please work in other places, we don't want tog et between Hudson PP CMDRs and Plague's CMDRs deal to get Plague to expand to a system that they could possibly take control of for the long term (they are a brand new PMF)

Orders 12 - 16 FEB 3308

Project Status:

The Dark Wheel is expanding once again! This time it is out of HR 4979 and I project that to finish around 17-19 FEB. Once TDW arrives at the new system, I will let everyone know what to do

CHARONIUM - No work here, let’s just see what happens

COELRIND - No work here, Plague and Hudson PP have a thing they are making happen the we will do the usual rack and stack when they tell me what the desired order is

HR 4979 - After the war is won there for our preferred #2, we will need to buff the losing non-native (Nuenets Corp) to avoid them retreating, this is to be done AFTER the current war ends

WOLF 629 - Laundry list of post-takeover cleanup here. The HIGH priority is to stop the invasion of the Luyten faction as this is a permit granting faction and will cause long term BGS headaches from CMDRs wanting to get the permit if we allow that faction to stay in the system

The conflicts to keep things in check still abound, but that just means assets are changing hands and will ultimately result in less work later as we consolidate things onto the factions we want to have them. There are a handful of systems that need regular mission type work as well as the Trade and Cartography Data helping to boost TDW in a couple of places. ALL OF YOU ARE DOING AN AMAZING JOB!!!

Turning the Wheel remains in the final planned phase of the project. Our primary goals during this phase are to maintain the systems that The Dark Wheel controls for BGS stability and to continue to expand TDW into neighboring systems. If a new system is free from other PMFs and/or PP issues, TDW will take ownership of that system. If other PMFs occupy the system, we will seek an agreement to allow TDW to stay, be friendly, and not attempt to take control of the system. This is the “good neighbor” policy that has worked very well for the project thus far. At present, the current status of TDW in so many systems is in opposition to what the codex entry says. As TDW grows and this difference becomes even greater, it is hoped that this will trigger “something” with respect to Felicity Farseer’s quote in the TDW codex entry.

Above all, we continue Turning the Wheel for the camaraderie that working together for a common goal brings.

As always, if something pops up that “looks odd” see the General Remarks.

Please remember:
  • Do NOT work for other factions in TDW systems, unless requested below.
  • Do NOT hand in trade goods or cartography data to stations that we do not own.
  • Do NOT hand in bounties for any faction other than TDW in our systems.

Possible Next Expansion Trigger System:
TDW Missions for INF, Cartography Data and Trade Profits at TDW controlled stations, and Bounty Voucher turn ins are desired at:
- None, Expansion in progress

Bounty Hunting:
Bounty hunting in any of our controlled systems (9 PUPPIS and/or ANYANWU Compromised Nav Beacons and/or Resource Extraction Sites in TDW controlled systems are great places to go).
Turn in TDW bounty vouchers earned in these locations:
  • 86 MU HERCULIS
  • LTT 5455

General Missions & Passengers:
Note: Work Missions for INF in the following systems for the given faction, when moving these factions up above the native factions, if a conflict starts, we typically want these non-native factions to WIN those conflicts against native factions
(In order of Priority)
HR 4979 - Nuenets Corp [After war estimate ~3] want back up to ~7, AFTER WAR ACTIVITY
BD-18 3106 - LHS 2335 Group [9.8] want ~15%
CHONTANTICI - The Dark Wheel [12.6] want ~15%
- LAVE - Any missions for TDW, we want to hold #2 in system at ~15% INF

Commodity Trading AND/OR Exploration Data:
Profitable trades AND/OR Hand in:
  • 86 MU HERCULIS - Gauss Platform AND/OR Scheutz Hub (SML/MED Pads)
  • 86 MU HERCULIS - Carson's Progress (SURFACE ALL Pads)
  • LTT 5455 - Tull Enterprise (ALL Pads)

Preferred #2 non-native factions for long term stability:
9 PUPPIS - Ralu Independents
ANYANWU - Alliance of LTT 5419
HR 4979 - Alliance of CD-33 8748
LHS 397 - Sol Workers' Party
LTT 5455 - GQ Virginis General Corporation
WOLF 629 - Sol Workers' Party
YUQUI - Haritana Dynamic Group

General Remarks:
Where TDW is a guest, we want TDW to be above the natives, ideally not conflicting with the other player factions, and never in conflict with the controlling faction. 15-20% INF is a good place to be unless otherwise indicated
  • ARQUE - TDW is a guest of Alliance Rapid-reaction Corps, no work required here
  • CHARONIUM - TDW is supposed to be a guest here, leave this one alone please
  • CHONTANTICI - TDW is a guest of Wolf 406 Transport & Co (AEDC)
  • COELRIND - Hudson PP system, for now leave this alone, TDW only needs about 7% MAX here.
  • LAVE - TDW is a guest of Lave Radio Network, ~15% is ideal
  • LHS 1857 - TDW is a guest of Flotta Stellare
  • LHS 417 - TDW is a guest of Blood Brothers from Alrai
  • LP 787-52 - TDW is a guest of Minutemen
  • SOKOJI - TDW is a guest of Wolf 406 Transport & Co (AEDC)
  • WOLF 433 - TDW is a guest of LHS 2541 Alliance Combine (AEDC)
  • As a general rule, when factions in a TDW system are in conflict, we want the native faction (Blue N by their name in Inara when looking at the system) to LOSE. Where two non-native factions conflict, neither winner is “desired”, depending on INF level after the conflict, we would likely boost the LOSER to avoid retreat (happens at 2.5% or lower). Two native factions in conflict can be ignored and their INF in the system can be addressed after the conflict ends.
  • Another general rule, we want non-native factions above the native factions to avoid invasions. Take note that when factions are above 7% influence, and two of them match in %INF, and at least one of them has an asset, this will trigger a conflict. Where possible keep a few % between non-native factions to avoid a conflict as the loser will likely need to get boosted back up above the native factions for stability of the system.

Please continue to use EDMC or similar tools to keep local data up to date.

Keep Turning The Wheel, Hamsters!

If TDW gives me missions to kill civilians and medical personnel responding to an emergency again, I will make sure they get pushed back to Shinratra Dezhra. That was upsetting. (just a little role play for the devs)

Yeah... the RNG on the missions doesn't seen to give much care towards "good" vs "bad" as to which types of factions give those out...

WOLF 629 - Laundry list of post-takeover cleanup here. The HIGH priority is to stop the invasion of the Luyten faction as this is a permit granting faction and will cause long term BGS headaches from CMDRs wanting to get the permit if we allow that faction to stay in the system

I hadn't thought of that before but it makes perfect sense that this could cause great difficulties in maintaining or adjusting the BGS order in a system.

This brought a couple of questions to mind, namely:
1) When looking at the faction list (shown below), I had to look at their home system and saw that access to that system requires a permit and that they're the controlling faction there. Is there a quicker way to determine if one of the factions in a system is a grant-issuing one?

2) Looking at the current state in Wolf 629 (academically speaking, this could be any system for learning BGS tactics), I presume we want to keep things going in the direction that causes the Luyten 347-14 Confederation faction to retreat from Wolf 629. Is pushing Sol Workers Party enough? That will take some time (2 days as of today). Do we nudge anyone else to make this go faster?
Is the Luyten 347-14 Confederation faction locked (INF) due to the recovery state they're currently in? (This meaning that we can't effectively subtract from thier INF for the time being.)

Fortunately, this isn't the kind of initiative where you're pressed to accept missions that you don't like to do. Have fun.

o7, CMDR and welcome. :)

"Easiest" way, only a few factions grant permits, there is a list on the wiki https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Permits
So it's really just a matter of knowing which ones are on that list

Wolf 629 factions, Feb 13,3308 (2022)

For the snapshot shown, Luyten 347-14 Confederation lost their invasion war TODAY (because we opposed it) and this is the post-war result. As such, they will leave the system with no further action on our part required, which should happen on the tick TOMORROW.

If, for example, the idea was to give a non-native faction that is in a system "in the clear" a ticket out of the system:
("In the clear" in that they won an invasion war recently and/or have been longstanding in the system) a key rule at play is that there needs to be at least 7 factions in the system as you cannot retreat out a faction of there are 6 or less present
(yes there are odd cases where there are 8 factions sitting stable-ly in a system, but that's a bit of a special case in the BGS)
the idea is to drive "that faction" into retreat state and hold them below 2.5% threshold for several days.
The retreat state kicks off what is basically an evaluation cycle, if the faction isn't above the threshold on the 6th Active Retreat day, they will leave the system.
You hold "that faction" in retreat by taking advantage of the -2% INF "bleed" per day (after all, you gotta really work to keep them in the system if you want them to stay...)
AND doing +INF on ALL the other factions

End result for the BGS, everyone but "that faction" gets a boost, and the INF has to come from "someone" and guess which one is the only faction that didn't get any +INF for the day? "THAT FACTION"

There are more "sneaky" things that can be done that cause more adverse effects on "that faction" but those are a more "above and beyond" type of thing, the above outlines the process.

WOLF 629 - Masterfully handled CMDRs!!! As things sit right now, there are decent gaps between the non-natives! If/when that changes, the preferred #2 and general remarks are the guide

Fewer conflicts this time around and a couple more places where the usual mission work will be most helpful, makes for a nice balance to cover everyone’s preferred style! AWESOME JOB AS ALWAYS CMDRs!

Expansion out of HR 4979 sent TDW to DOMOTA, which filled an open slot (no invasion war)
Sidewinder Syndicate is the controlling PMF and we will not challenge that.
No work is required here at this time

The expansion out of HR 4979 landed TDW into an open slot in DOMOTWA. This is a Sidewinder Syndicate system. As such the good neighbor policy is in effect and presently there is a war between TDW and another PMF, let that one go and we will fix TDW influence afterwards as needed

CHARONIUM - I guess this is going to stay a TDW system, though I’m inclined to just let it ride and see what happens long term, no work required

COELRIND - No work here, ignore the Election that TDW is caught up in. Plague and Hudson PP are working a deal and we do not want to interfere with that

HR 4979 - Nice job with the cleanup here! Nuenets needs to win the election, then we can do another asset swap from them to the preferred #2

Conflict heavy once again but still with all the other play loops with many options to choose from! KEEP DOING THE AMAZING JOB THAT ALL OF YOU CMDRs DO SO WELL!

  • LHS 306
  • ROSS 154

General Missions & Passengers:
Note: Work Missions for INF in the following systems for the given faction, when moving these factions up above the native factions, if a conflict starts, we typically want these non-native factions to WIN those conflicts against native factions
(In order of Priority)
  • ANYANWU - Aegilips Co [4.9] want ~6-7% for stability
  • LTT 5455 - GQ Virginis General Corporation [7.2] want ~12% for conflict to get the #2 spot
  • LFT 926 - Collective of Independent Agents [9.5] want ~13-15% for conflict to get the #2 spot
  • 9 PUPPIS - Ralu Independents [10.3] want ~13% for conflict to get the #2 spot
  • SOKOJI - The Dark Wheel [7.2] want ~9% for long term stability
  • YUQUI - Haritana Dynamic Group [11.8] want ~15% for long term stability
  • LAVE - Any missions for TDW, we want to hold #2 in system at ~15% INF

Commodity Trading AND/OR Exploration Data:
Profitable trades into, buying commodities from, and/or hand in Carto Data at:
  • LHS 306 - Melvin Port (ALL Pads)
  • ROSS 154 - Birkeland City (ALL Pads)

Preferred #2 non-native factions for long term stability:
9 PUPPIS - Ralu Independents
ANYANWU - Alliance of LTT 5419
HR 4979 - Alliance of CD-33 8748
LHS 397 - Sol Workers' Party
LTT 5455 - GQ Virginis General Corporation
WOLF 629 - Sol Workers' Party
YUQUI - Haritana Dynamic Group

General Remarks:
Where TDW is a guest, we want TDW to be above the natives, ideally not conflicting with the other player factions, and never in conflict with the controlling faction. 15-20% INF is a good max, unless otherwise indicated
  • DOMOTWA - TDW is a guest of Sidewinder Syndicate

Most everything in this orders cycle is either some cleanup of remaining items from last week (conflicts take time to go away…) or a last push to knock a few TDW systems into long term BGS stability. These types of BGS operations take special consideration for the planning and most importantly in the execution of those plans. All of you CMDRs have been executing those tasks MASTERFULLY!!! AWESOME JOB!!!

ANYANWU - All assets have been shifted to the desired #2, now it’s just some shoring up. Since the #2 now owns whatever TDW doesn’t, as long as the #2 stays above the rest, there’s nothing to conflict over. The only remaining item is to put the #2 a bit higher and get the other non-natives just a touch higher to avoid any invasion possibilities

CHARONIUM - Star Pilots is showing some movement here, as they were the ones who we believe orchestrated the upset here, if they wish to take the system they can have it, we only wanted TDW to be present, as it was an LSR system

COELRIND - No work here, this system is still a mess, if Alchemy Den and TDW conflict, let them win and we will boost the TDW INF back to around 7% afterwards

DOMOTWA - Just a small amount of work here, it’s a 6 faction system so no worries about a retreat but ~6-7% would be ideal for TDW here

LHS 306 - Expecting another conflict here to pull more assets to our non-native, so be on the lookout for that

LTT 5455 - The conflict here is for the last asset to go our our preferred #2 and then this system will be setup for some very nice long term BGS stability

PHRA LAK - Only one more asset to move here, so be on the lookout for a conflict to pop up here as well

WOLF 433 - Great job securing the TDW win here! The system is still a bit of a mess, expecting another TDW conflict, will want to win that if/when it happens

Project Status:

EXCELLENT JOB with our two TDW systems getting the preferred #2, that means some nice long term BGS stability in those systems which frees us up for more securing after expansions and whatever else needs doing. As always we have a nice list of conflicts and general mission work to pick and choose from! I hope to see all of you in TDW space!

ANYANWU - Just a little more shoring up to push Alliance of LTT 5419 (preferred #2) to around 15-20 INF, the other non-natives are in a good spot here

CHARONIUM - Let’s leave this one alone, TDW was supposed to be a guest in this formerly LSR system and then Star Pilots upset that. If they want it, they can have it, we only want TDW to be present

HR 4979 - Our preferred #2, Alliance of CD-33 8748, now has everything TDW doesn’t own, so we need to get them ahead of the rest at around 15% and also bring up Nuenets just a touch to keep them off the “possible invasion” list. GREAT JOB SECURING THE LONG TERM BGS HERE

LTT 5455 - Our preferred #2, GQ Virginis General Corporation, now has everything TDW doesn’t own, so we need to get them ahead of the rest at around 15% and make sure to bring Wolf 562 Major Inc up (they are super low right now) to around the 7% mark so they cannot catch an invasion. EXCELLENT JOB SECURING THE LONG TERM BGS HERE AS WELL CMDRs

WOLF 433 - Expecting another TDW conflict soon, will want to win that if/when it happens

Looking at the standings in this system, I presume you mean: get Wolf 562 Major Inc above 5%...
