Updated Permit List

I have just spent 4 nights getting aligned with the Phekda society to get a permit to Phekda. I'm now aligned, but no permit has been offered. I've tried the stations at Brizo and Ethgreze and all 4 stations at Megrez, plus both stations at G 176-29. No permit offer. I've switched from open to solo at each station, plus I've even restarted the game. I've done a couple of extra high rep missions for the Phekda society, still no permit.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have earned permits for Terra Matter, Jotun, Alioth and Sirius, so I know how permits work.
.
I'm going to park for the night at Resnick Platform, Brizo. Hopefully it will work tomorrow. If not, I'm giving up, though I will raise a ticket.

Thanks for the update! Phekda is also on my to-do list. Becoming allied should do it. Not every station/system where the faction is present grants the permit though. But it looks like you already visited them all.

A couple of them twice. I'll try again in the morning (NZ time) and see if that makes a difference, though I'm only going to check at Brizo.
The mode switching has paid off with unloading most of the Pl, Os and painite that I have had in my hold for 5 days. It makes good pirate bait, and I was hoping it would help earn some rep - no luck there, but now I've made a few extra million and earned back some of the Alliance rep I've lost shooting trading ships at funerals.

No permit this morning either.
I wonder if the Ancients of Mumu who now control Phekda have stuffed up the permit. If this is a player group, it is yet another broken mechanic in game.

Just read these news about Phekda. If it is true that the system ownership through player group removed the permit from the hands of the Phekda Society, these are devastating news. I don't even see how there is any way whatsoever now to even earn reputation with that new group, plus, like any player group, it was probably magically conjured into existence. And anyone who didn't get the permit before that happened... is now screwed. <internal cursing>

Edit: it is possible this is not a player group at all, the new system description suggests it is something FD added in 2.0 as part of the "The Missing" stuff. <more internal cursing> I just came home from a long exploration trip with the plan to sell the data to the various independent factions that give permits, Phekda was one of the only two now left on my list, the other one being Nastrond which according to the OP can also be earned by bounty hunting very effectively. <internal cursing intensifies> I am right now really, massively drunken off (replace with typically British synonym which this kindergarten forum auto-censor converted into a bunch so smileys. Hint: when someone uses the word, one does not feel like smiling, but like ). What am I even supposed to do? Just shrug and dump millions of credits worth of exploration data anywhere, then hope at some point there will be an excrutiatingly more grindy way to get this permit, or what? I wanted some closure on my permit hunt, not a magical wall erected before it all of a sudden.

Edit: I've posted a bug about this and hope we get an answer very soon at least what the intended thing here is.

Edit2: The only other system open on my list, Nastrong, apparently has changed ownership, too. This time it seems to be a clear effect of the BGS, and probably some players intentionally trolling everyone else. It is now the Dragons Of Nastrond who control the system, the question is whether they thus now give the permit or not. And must admit I don't feel very motivated to waste my millions of exploration data in a possibly vain attempt to find out. <more internal cursing> I just wanted my permits completed. Le epic sigh.

Edit3: Oh wait it is weekend. Not gonna get an answer before monday even. So I am not sitting there locked out of the game lest I either risk all my exploration data whereever I go and whatever I do instead, or use it up raising my rep with factions that don't give the system permit any more, while those that do sit there holed up in these system, unreachable.

I have raised a bug report. If this permit has been ruined because of a player group, it is very wrong. Such a group is now impossible to do anything about, since no one else can go there.
Is this really how FD want this to work?
A player group, EXO, has already made one of the rare goods (Wolf Fesh) impossible to obtain. I have read threads about player factions stuffing up Powerplay expansions. How many other parts of the game is this going to break?

Already been over this two pages back.

Ticket was submitted, support came back as not a player group but to be flagged just in case since it seemed unusual.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=122593&p=3157194&viewfull=1#post3157194

Then shortly afterwards the system description changed which would imply not a player faction.

FWIW the controlling faction is not the one that issues the permit, there are other instances where the controlling faction has changed and the permit issuing faction did not.

Though Limoncello does seem to be having issues so dunno in this case.

Well we are not sure. Maybe the Phekda Society still does hand out the permit indeed and something else (uber extreme mission RNG bad luck :() prevents you from getting it? Bitstorm make sit sound as though it has reportedly been possible to still get permits from the original permit faction regardless.

I must say at this point I have changed my mind. I found these random permits an okay, albeit annoying mechanic, now I just think they are an utter mistake. Permits should have been limited to the capital systems and that's it. Especially with this method of grandfathering permit ownership and useful methods of acquisition when new factions take over or poof into existence possibly compromising the endeavour for anyone afterward.

The irony is, I should have known better. In any MMO, the general rule is, if you can get it now, GRAB GRAB GRAB IT, any means of acquisition could become nerfed or simply no longer fun any more due to any number of direct changes or side effects from unrelated changes (or in some cases, the thing becomes entirely unvailable unless you had it already before the change). I am glad I ranked up with the Federation when Tun was still fully viable, and made the old max ranks in both factions before the great faction rank nerf that increased the required effort by like a factor of 10. Le sigh. Gonna dump enough data on Phekda Society to become allied now, for science I suppose. This better work now...

OK, so FD has deliberately broken this. A slightly interesting bit of the game removed because reasons. Great.

What do you mean "deliberately broken it"?

You're saying support have confirmed it's intentional and the permit is not supposed to be available or something?

Well I dunno for sure, I cannot remember if I had the permit before or after submitting the bug so cannot vconfirm that it is actually available post-Ancients of Mumu.

I just know that the BGS has triggered the controlling faction of permit systems to change before, and when that has happened the permit issuing faction has not changed. So it *should* still be Phekda Society.

But if it;s been manually changed then who knows.

My comment before was just going off what support was saying that Ancients of Mumu is not a player faction, but they will forward it on for investigation regardless.

Well, I am now allied with the Phekda Society (did it in Brizo), no sign of the permit mission yet. :(

Edit: Went to Woworne Nu, bulletin board shows me a permit mission there (not yet allied though), so the Defence Force Of Nastrond does indeed still give the permit. It's possible Phekda FD (Michael Brookes personally?) retconned the Phekda system completedly, retconned into what is now described in its galaxy map, and effectively closed it off... except for anyone who came earlier and grabbed the permit when it was still possible. Le sigh.

Edit2: Yepp, got the Nastrond permit from the Defence Force Of Nastrond.

Yeah this was the one I was thinking of. When the BGS results in a controlling faction change the old faction still gets to issue the permits, you can see it at Nastrond, so on that basis it should still be Phekda Society.

But since Ancients of Mumu seems to have been a manual intervention they could have done anything I spose.

Meh, nothing of interest in Phekda anyway. No RES, markets are terrible and so is outfitting. The only thing nice about it is the earthlikes/water worlds. Will be a nice place to visit in a few years once we have PL on earthlikes.

I have seen Phekda Society missions around the place near Alioth though. Someone mentioned Brizo, that was one location.

Anyway, i see there is a ticket open, so let's hope FD fixes this. I'm sure like others here, some of us ultimately want to collect all permits if only for completion. ;)

if i defect from one faction will i lose permits associated to them, for example will i lose mt sol permit if i leave the federation and pledge allegiance to empire?

I've never heard of anyone losing a permit once they have earned it - I'm pretty sure that once you have a permit, you cannot lose it no matter what you do.

Also, as far as I know there is no option to "leave" the federation. You can start working against them, but you won't lose any rank or anything once you have it. This is an interesting point because if they are introducing a whole enhanced way of ranking up this year, hopefully they should also put in the option to resign from the federation so that you can experience the new ranking missions and so on.

Returning from the other side of the galaxy, I've found a huge restricted area. This area it's about 1500Ly diameter (close to three times bigger than the human bubble) that spans multiple sectors. All the systems in this area are marked as "Requires unknown permit"

The area is around (-600, 0 , 54000)

Look on the first page, is the area listed there?
