WHAAM! -- 100 Paintjob Concepts For Fun

Just a thought... if FDev had offered the choice of a paint creator studio for ships or the current pin the tail on the donkey Holo-Me... which one would you chose? As good as the avatar editor is, it's a use once and never again tool..

I know my choice [yesnod]

Thinking further... I don't know how many flying phallus paint jobs I could actually stomach at a CG before killing something with fire [where is it]

I'd choose a paint creator anytime.
I've made quite a number of paints in Forza 4, they were okay I guess but some of the creations made by others were simply awesome.
And all your creations could be shared with the community too, either as carpaint or as templates, decals, etc.

My wish for a creator wouldn't be so strong if FD came up with some decent paints themselfs, until now I haven't seen much creativity in their paints, just moving around some rgb sliders for the most part and using certain patterns over and over again.

FDev needs to do another community paintjob competition, and OP needs to get into it.

Really there should be regular continuous community paint job competitions, possibly one every quarter, where the players vote and the winner's work gets put up in the store. It would be a great and easy way for Frontier to 1) engage the community better, and 2) get better paints to sell.

I suggested earlier in this thread that Frontier adopt the same approach Digital Extreme's has implemented on their game, Warframe. The community uses tools provided by the developer, and adhering to strict guidelines, they create skin content for the Warframes and weapons available in the game. Every 4 months they pull in about 12 or so new community created content which the playerbase can then buy.

Community is involved, dev gets nice shiny new stuff into their game with almost zero effort on their part, the creators get about 30% per sale; dev makes easy money. Win/win.
Elite content could be; paintjobs, ship kits, decals and cmdr outfits.

Frontier need to get those ones and sell them in the store for the coming months :)

I wish FD hadn't decided to make money from this and other cosmetics - they could have enabled an army of modders for this game that would be glorious, not least the deeper modding of updated models / textures / replacements from other sci fi universes on different servers etc.

The paint jobs are no different from a lot of added content in the game, it's okay but not exceptional, in some occasions even poor.

Can I give him one rep for every ship paintkit I like? Please?
If you only liked one it would be easy enough, otherwise it gets tricky. First you have to spread rep around (in other words give some other people some rep before you can give him some more rep. Not sure on the numbers, but I'm sure someone will know). Then you have to give rep to another one of his posts because you can't give more than one rep to each post.
