Update done. And shotguns are still as broke as ever for me!!!Don't believe the progress bar. It lies. Like all progress bars do.
Mainly because the one progress bar and displayed speed represents multiple things that the launcher does. Allocating space, intermittent downloading and subsequent installation/unpacking of downloaded files all have different speeds at which they are executed.
Just go get yourself cuppa. It'll be done in no time. And hope the update didtn't break shotguns. Because that's what I would expect if I were planning to do a singular thing.

I give up. Been flying everywhere looking for non existent crap and all I see are G3 p15s which I dont need and G2 crap.

It's like this with everything in Elite.
It gives plenty of everything, but the second you start grinding for one thing in particular, you're screwed.
You have to be sneaky about it. Pretend you're doing something else and only accidentally peak into FS store. I'm sure it's gonna be there.
If you are looking in Frontline to buy a shotgun you are looking in the wrong place Frontline only sell fights, you want Pioneer to actually buy stuff.
Looking at the picture of the shotgun I find the gap between the end of the barrels and the face of the breach disturbing, I wouldn't fire any shotgun designed like that.
OK I wanna nuke Pioneer and Frontline. And then nuke Pioneer again. That shopkeeper who tells me NONE of the guns will disappoint... grrrrr I wanna smack them so bad.

I've found a virgin system which I'm hoping to make all mine. I landed on a planet quite close to the main star and, when I touched down, it would not let me dismbark as temperatures were too unsafe.
On a hunch, I thought "let's go round to the dark side". So I did. And I could do a bit of ..."I hope my legs don't break, walking on, walking on the moon". I love the way some stuff is so logical in this game.
Despite salt beginning to seep out in some of my posts of late.

I did a bunch of different missions today, mostly "turning on the power" stuffs. A little combat (if there were pirates), and a lot of looting. I managed to upgrade my Executioner (the plasma sniper rifle) to Grade 4, so I'm doing OK I think. Two Grade 4 suits and two Grade 4 weapons. I have some mods I want next, I think. It depends on what mats I find, really. I'm not sure I will upgrade the Artemis much. I have a G3, and a G2 with night vision. Upgrading the suit seems to just give you more shields and protection -- not a priority with the Artemis, I don't think.
I did this one huge base today that had so much stuff in it. I got 6 Graphene just from there, and a ton of other stuff. I had to use the SRV to carry it all. The only downside was that the base was 160,000ls from the station I was working out of. I wonder if they put the good stuff at the far away stations?
Anyway, it was a bonanza. I shall go there again, I'm sure. I still need lots of different things.

I am not sure why for every single of these Odyssey updates on each Thursday.
1. I click the launcher shortcut, it does the big download (via the launcher window). Then I can play fine.
2. On Friday, when I click the launcher shortcut, now the STEAM window pops up and I get the whole long arsed 2 hour download (via Steam sub-window) all over again.

I got rid of Steam for ED because it just causes issues. I downloaded the installer from the FD web site, uninstalled via Steam, then reinstalled with the FD installer. If you bought from Steam before they started requiring a Steam log in, it should work for you as well.

The one that goes on about quality items for discerning customers, I want to ask if they have any run of the mill items for non discerning folks like me.
how does the bartender get away with it, sold him some Nasties chemicals and bio's chambers and look at my inventetory again and the sod pinched my graphene too.
The Moon is tidally locked to Earth, it depends what the body you have landed on is locked to as to whether it will get dark or not.
Try different suit. Unless your mission specifically requires the one you're wearing. If it's only about opening a box and it's locked, I think you can use the hacking thingy even in Artemis, which should be more heat resistant.
As far as i know the temperature range is the same for all suits. But it’s not listed as a stat, which is another omission. It’s not even clear just what the limits actually are.

I just thought I'd post this as I have had confirmation about the temperature range: Confirmed by the developers: The extremes of temperature are 0-800K, beyond that you won't be able to disembark your vehicle on-foot. That should be the same for all suits.
Unless he's able to convince the scavengers to move the wreckage there as well, it's not really useful for the mission.
