Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

According to CPU-Z, this machine has an NVIDIA GeForce MX 250 with 2 GBytes of GDDR-5 memory. And some Intel UHD graphics as part of the APU, which is an Intel Core i5 10210U.

Yeah. I just noticed that I went out to do this before I even had the engineer unlocked and worked with that I need to gain knowledge of the other one...
I don't know how you're playing Odyssey with 2Gb of video ram. It must be laptop witchcraft.
Yes if it is stolen you end up being harassed by someone’s security and if it’s not you get harassed by everyone else, the last can be useful as long as you are expecting the company.
Yeah, it can be easy money but irritating if you're trying to finish some mission spam without a million interdictions.

And here I am thinking I'm doing well with 500kcr for an assassination in a Sidewinder...
You are 'Doing Well' if you are having fun! Use whatever ship you want, doing whatever activities you want, and the money will accumulate over time.

Thargoid stuff is end game, unless like me today, I did it as part of a group. I did it while a certain Twitch streamer was streaming, and his private group had 15-20 people (at least) in that instance. I do not find taking down an Orthrus alone easy to do. Although I have done it. It is super easy in such a large group.

I blame FDev.

Well said.

After collecting some samples (4 out of 6, the rest will follow next session), the Star Moth wanted to play some sort of "Musical Landing Spots" with me. Had to drive around a bit until she found a spot where I was actually able to board with my SRV...

Oh, those thargaloids! I wish they'd take their remaining resources and fortify a position in Barnard's Loop. Either that or they just have some improved hardware on the way already. Maybe we simply ain't seen nothin yet

Penny is now heading towards a sector with a name like Blue Magoo or Blue Hypo; perhaps a clue to even bluer skies ahead? Oh yeah, as shown here, a divert down to nebula at Flyai Flyua

The AA-A was breaking some beautiful surreal blueberry cobbler kind of skies above, looking up at the bottom and toward the center from the northeast.

Some more pictures of the nebula from other angles are at its link to its im-gur. This is the main advertisement for trying to move the nebula though and get more tourism I guess. For a good time, Flyai Flyu.

Aaaaah, the olden times nostalgia of going for the 5000Ly engineer unlock.

I had forgotten of it but I think rupee noon had went to Jellyfish and then beyond far enough to trigger it by surprise. I believe he was entirely satisfied for engineering and hitting on Elvira. But Penny, she had it in mind for a mission parameter, and went just past Crescent. Ah, last October and in the hauler. Thanks, journal files!

I had fun reseting my main and you don't even have to worry going that far. Good choice.

I'm undecided if I will again or will add any other account but it was very refreshing to come from the bottom up again. But it depends perhaps if the person sees it as redoing a bunch of work, or sees it as a chance to relive those early decisions and strategies. It was awesome. Like the Vulture you got, rupee had never used, was what penny saved up for on foot/apex/sidewinder. Hmm and it was rewarding to choose differently some things and just make it work. Like the on foot gear and starting with the vulture

I bought a Vulture recently while resisting the urge to add another expensive medium ship.

Penny played the first vulture a reasonably long time it was a great ship. IAnd rebuilt a second generation one in Colonia. Fantastic ships, A+ my FrontLines guy told me about them. I was so satisfied, I shilled for Corps Dynamics effusively herein this advert

I will like to spend some time with my Space Harpy vultures should I survive this deep space business

Indeed. I think there was a little nostalgia for my first go around during the dark days of 2020 but I've also found extra enjoyment on my second attempt. There's quite a lot to learn in the game so maybe taking another run at it is less overwhelming.

I just have maybe a pixel-worth of engineering to do before I plan my trip to Colonia, but maybe I'll see you and Penny out there in the black.

Engineering in Colonioa is easier than in the Bubble - you get fewer Engineers with broader specialisations, and they're much closer together. You may need to work your way up some of the Bubble engineers first, though, in order to collect all the prerequisites. Also, some mats are harder to find in the Colonia region, so fill your bins before you set out.

Quain finally returned to the bubble last week after an elapsed 5 months of travelling to the "eastern" most point of the galaxy and back catching some sights on the way. Elite V in exploration happened early on and a promotion to Geneticist in Exobilogy happened. The trip took so long mainly because of a lot of BGS game play being done with my alt account in the bubble.
The best thing about the trip is the POIs visited on the way. Quain was firsts discoverer for a few notable stelar phenomena in the east edge of the galaxy area. They were the more common ice crystals, though.

Grats on Elite V!

CMDR's - exploration may be a bit squiffy at the moment:

Uh oh the thargaloids are trying to disturb my groovy FSS (GFSS) scanner. Not my groove!
DATA CORRUPTED. PLEASE TRY AGAIN. It may have went away after a re-log. Not sure yet but had never seen that, I don't recall so

Ah that is far out duders I been getting a mottled blue above me, hey that's a pretty campfire OH nebula excuse me but I feel a rustic vibe a-comin on

🎤 Bluuuuuue shadows, on the trail
All of the dogies are in the cargo
Just close your eyyes and dream CMDR
Dream of genetic sampling somewhere new
Bom, buh bomba, bombabompabompabompa!!

Some jaw-dropping shots, there. I guess you easily could create a "100 Screenshots" video from this trip alone. And worthy of #Stellar Screenshots, as well.

CMDR's - exploration may be a bit squiffy at the moment:

Well, I'll keep an eye on this. Don't want to get my scans messed up tonight.

If it were my laptop I would disable the intel integrated video in device manager, they tend to override the nVidia GPU. I had an MSI gaming laptop with Windows10 and an intel CPU with integrated video with an nVidia 1070 and it wouldn't let it work during gaming sessions, very frustrating.

From what the tools (GPU-Z and HWMonitor) tell me, it seems like the GeForce chip does the heavy lifting.

Well, I tried to deactivate the Intel GPU and ran into an issue - all the sudden my secondary monitor wasn't available anymore.

I guess I'll have to take a look at the UEFI/BIOS and see if there is an option.

Supplemental: Nothing. Unless someone knows a way to get this working, I fear I'm stuck with this.

On some laptops you can adjust the shared memory (system RAM) in the BIOS, I'd check there first, maybe check for a newer BIOS at the manufacturer too. I know you just upgraded it (RAM) so you might check if you can increase the shared RAM. I had two tiny LEDs on my laptop, one amber for the nVidia GPU and a white one for the intel GPU, that's how I could tell what was being used when I was using it.

Sadly, there isn't much access to anything in the BIOS. And I can't find any updates for it, either.

But I've found something in the depths of Win's Control Panel, under System/Display/Graphics. It allows you to choose if you want to run the app in energy conservation mode, let Windows decide (allegedly the highest performance) or use the dedicated GPU. I'll check in later if that did the trick.

I used that to run the game on my RTX then later on I used it to make EDDiscovery use it as well because the maps crashed if it tried to use the intel graphics.
