Hi
You are aware that you can synthesize oxygen, right? It takes me 2 iron and 1 nickel and approximately 20 seconds to replenish my air supply.
But!...but!...I bet you don't panic anywhere near as much as I do in those cockpit shattering situations!! ....

...

My first reaction is, Where's the nearest station!, or...is my carrier nearby!

And it's not as if I'm short of iron and nickel, I've got both showing a stock of 300 of each.

...but my stock of 'brain cells material' needs topping up.
Talking of panic...I've just nearly run out of fuel

. I'd
assumed my Mandalay had a fuel scoop fitted as most of my ships have, but for some reason I'd swapped it out for a anti corrosive cargo rack...maybe looking for those elusive Titan drive components?...anyway I'd simply forgotten.
I've been exploring the systems near by with the Mandalay and I was about to jump back to my carrier but was distracted by the heavy rain shower that'd started outside (Hooray!), I put the Mandalay in a low cruise situation and went outside to check up on a few things,
but I hadn't noticed that the fuel level was getting very low.
While I was outside I also remembered it was my turn to cook dinner tonight, so I went into the kitchen and started preparing that. A couple of hours later I went back to the game which I'd left running. I went to initiate the jump back to the system I'd left my carrier in but....Oh No!...

.
I couldn't jump. There was only 5% fuel left in the tank. No problem I thought, I'll just scoop some from the K class star in the system I'm in. I cruise to the star and hear the familiar sound of the fuel scoop supposedly working. After about 30 seconds I suddenly notice I'm not
actually taking onboard the Hydrogen, and my fuel gauge isn't showing any improvement...Whut!?

...

..no fuel scoop.
In fact my fuel gauge is showing that it's now
lower than the 5% I initially had....(Don't panic Mr Mannering)...(Dad's army)...Okay think,
NO... don't think of all the past 5 hr's worth of discovery data or those bio's you've discovered being lost....plus the ship....

.
So, once I got my brain into gear I came out of cruise (and panic mode), shut the ship down to zero speed and waited near the main star. I'll just call up my carrier to jump to this system and rendezvous with me somewhere near the main star. (Suddenly
thinks)...Did I leave the carrier topped up with enough Tritium?....

...Yes!
Catastrophe averted....Quite exciting actually in a sort of perverse way. It would make the basis of some sort of 'pilot' training program of how to extract oneself from a stupid situation one found oneself in given the initial parameters listed above
Anyhow...I've had dinner, and I'm going to do some nice relaxing mining now.
Jack
