Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

The issue with using exterior landing pads when your canopy is gone is that the Oxygen doesn’t get re supplied until you are actually on the pad, if you go to a station re supply happens when you get through the slot.
As I found out a metre or two above the pad of an outpost in my canopyless Vulture.
In my case, I have a 5 minute supply and the platform is never more than 1.24 Ls away from the hazardous extraction site. The nearest station is 1,710 Ls away, not very practical.

guess what I'm going to do now? :D
Sit on the throne, think about all your life decisions?

This is the new chap. Going to try it out in a GCZ as one of the others executioners I have is designed for Stealthy assassinations and the other one was done when I didn't know what I was doing.

I haven't had the canopy implode on the Corsair yet. In fact, I'm not sure I've lost the canopy on anything but a Krait. I could probably switch to a more suitable life support rating but I haven't tested the Corsair outside of the CG with level 8 bounty missions and the like. It might be best to go up against something like a level 8 Anaconda or Federal Corvette first.

Plus, I have no fighter if I need a distraction.

My problem is that I have a very liberal ramming policy, that was my third Annie, I should have packed it in but I'm a glutton for punishment.

I don't tend to ram because I'm still not sure who comes of worse between the rammer and the rammee, but I like to get close enough to wrestle. Particularly with slower and larger ships. It also nullifies chaff.

Though you may receive blue on blue fire in a melee.
Try a Vulture.
I never fully tested mine after largely engineering it (wasteful) and probably never will now that I have a Cobra V to outfit. I suppose there'll be something I can scavenge off it though.

I think it's a phase I'm going through (I hope). It's still very hilarious to watch the smaller ships bounce off of me (I don't even spill my coffee) and it takes a few seconds for them to recover, the Vipers and Vultures can really move when they boost past. If I time it just right, I can really ring their bell.

I've tried to avoid Vipers and Vultures in the CG because they're annoying. Maybe I'll try the 0threeleven method.

The problem is there are lots of them in this CG.
They are difficult to hit with my Python Mk2 with 2 beam lasers and 4 Pacifiers, a lot of my ammo gets lost into space.
Those i try to ram if i get frustrated enough.
Pythons, Kraits and Anaconda's are a lot easier to hit.

Hi All :)

In my case, I have a 5 minute supply...

......:D

Mostly all my ships (I think without actually checking) have the maximum (25 min?) air supply. Plus the auto docking is very handy here in the case of canopy failure. I've learnt my lesson with canopy failures in the past!...that is to say, all my ships I use for trading with the occasional bit of combat have these A rated modules fitted.
On my exploration ships I tend to go with the lighter Life Support systems and shorter air supply's, mainly because I don't think I've ever experienced a canopy failure out in the black, and of course the extended jump range gained by using these module types. I've also engineered them as much as possible depending on which ship they're fitted to.

What am I doing...Roughly 8,000 Ly's out from my home base. I've just parked my SRV on a bio planet (Lysooch AF-R D4-108 4e actually) and am in the process of having a 'picnic' of spicy sausage, bacon, poached egg, toast and coffee. 🍽️ :D...(Actually my breakfast this morning).
Intending to scan the 4 bio's here then call my carrier into the system to pick me up. Where I go then is at the moment under consideration!
It's a bit cooler here now (in RL), so it's a bit more pleasant playing the game.
This broad area of space seems to have more than it's share of Terrestrial Water Worlds with a smattering of Ammonia Gas giants. One of my long term ongoing goals is to keep my eye out for and record some 'S' class Suns (Carbon Stars) that I can claim as first discovery's. I've only recorded (FD's) about 3 so far and that was a few years back when I was in this same region, about 2,500 ly's from where I am now....they seem to be as rare as rocking horse poo!...trouble is I find them pretty much difficult to see / find on the Galactic map. Whether that's a colour distinguishing problem my end or what I'm not sure.

Jack :)

You are aware that you can synthesize oxygen, right? It takes me 2 iron and 1 nickel and approximately 20 seconds to replenish my air supply.

on the cg fighting around the mega ship.seems pack hounds are ineffective, took me a while to figure it out,but the mega ship point defence is taking them out before the reach target.revert, i reverted to frag cannon, live and learn.
You need to get a little more distance from the installation and/or overload those defenses (that's what PHs are there for). 36 PHs in a salvo deplete your ammo fast, but I usually get about half past any point defense systems. I've stopped using frags around formerly friendly installations or ships - those guns hurt.

Not to self: finally get your arx in gear and engineer those PHs for High Capacity, so they don't run out of ammo before the PAs do.

all my ph are engineerd as all my weapons .i have a variety of each on my fc.if you are within no fire range of mega ship the pd still see a missile threat and engage even though its not meant for the mega ship, get outside the zone ts ok,but most the targets are inside, over loaded doesnt make a lot if any difference ive tried, but cheers for the reply . 07

Hi :)

You are aware that you can synthesize oxygen, right? It takes me 2 iron and 1 nickel and approximately 20 seconds to replenish my air supply.

But!...but!...I bet you don't panic anywhere near as much as I do in those cockpit shattering situations!! ....🤪... :ROFLMAO:
My first reaction is, Where's the nearest station!, or...is my carrier nearby!
And it's not as if I'm short of iron and nickel, I've got both showing a stock of 300 of each....but my stock of 'brain cells material' needs topping up.;)

Talking of panic...I've just nearly run out of fuel :ROFLMAO:. I'd assumed my Mandalay had a fuel scoop fitted as most of my ships have, but for some reason I'd swapped it out for a anti corrosive cargo rack...maybe looking for those elusive Titan drive components?...anyway I'd simply forgotten.
I've been exploring the systems near by with the Mandalay and I was about to jump back to my carrier but was distracted by the heavy rain shower that'd started outside (Hooray!), I put the Mandalay in a low cruise situation and went outside to check up on a few things, but I hadn't noticed that the fuel level was getting very low.
While I was outside I also remembered it was my turn to cook dinner tonight, so I went into the kitchen and started preparing that. A couple of hours later I went back to the game which I'd left running. I went to initiate the jump back to the system I'd left my carrier in but....Oh No!....

I couldn't jump. There was only 5% fuel left in the tank. No problem I thought, I'll just scoop some from the K class star in the system I'm in. I cruise to the star and hear the familiar sound of the fuel scoop supposedly working. After about 30 seconds I suddenly notice I'm not actually taking onboard the Hydrogen, and my fuel gauge isn't showing any improvement...Whut!?😲...🫣..no fuel scoop.

In fact my fuel gauge is showing that it's now lower than the 5% I initially had....(Don't panic Mr Mannering)...(Dad's army)...Okay think, NO... don't think of all the past 5 hr's worth of discovery data or those bio's you've discovered being lost....plus the ship.....

So, once I got my brain into gear I came out of cruise (and panic mode), shut the ship down to zero speed and waited near the main star. I'll just call up my carrier to jump to this system and rendezvous with me somewhere near the main star. (Suddenly thinks)...Did I leave the carrier topped up with enough Tritium?.......Yes! 😂

Catastrophe averted....Quite exciting actually in a sort of perverse way. It would make the basis of some sort of 'pilot' training program of how to extract oneself from a stupid situation one found oneself in given the initial parameters listed above :ROFLMAO:

Anyhow...I've had dinner, and I'm going to do some nice relaxing mining now.

Jack :)

I did in the past but now I don't, I also don't like the fact you can't see your destination, I would look out the side window until I could see the tiny flickering station in the ring system then square up and guesstimate using the speed and distance indicators on the left. I crack my canopy about every third outing, I always wait for my shields to regen before entering high-wake.

Just took om another scav kill mission.

After 27 kills, the last scav was nowhere to be seen. So, I quit and restarted.

This time, I "only" had 18 to kill.

The thing is, some of these scavs don't show as enemy until you shoot them, thereby reducing the count. Of course, killing a non-enemy results in a bounty but you can't complete the mission if you don't kill them.

I'm not sure of the logic here other than it's intentional. But I thought scavs were just fair game...
