Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Full fat milk from the Jersey and possibly Guernsey breeds of cow it has a more yellow colour than standard milk and before homogenisation when we got cream on the top the cream was much thicker.

Yeah, there is a problem with the EU rules there - afaik it is no longer allowed to sell milk right from the cow without homogenization - even one can still get it in the alpes, Austria does not seem to have such strict rules and at an Alm one can still get a glass of milk still warm from the cow. Well, last time I was in europe was in winter, so no chance for that. And when I will again be in europe is questionable - maybe I will have to go there aain to ensure, that I will not loose my german citizenship when I will apply for the australian one. And then it might not be a good thing to not have been back for years. So far our plan is permanent residents in 2019, citizenship by 2020.

Hm, eventually i mix it up with pasteurization - or both, not really sure about it.

Pasteurisation is the process of killing the bugs with gentle heat, general distribution milk is all pasteurised, homogenisation is the process they do to milk now to ensure that the fat is evenly distributed throughout and won't separate to cream on the top I can't remember why they do it probably for easier confirmation of the fat content.

For profit, so they can take part of the cream content and make it 3.5% and 1.5% instead of the natural content above 3.8%. Well, and unskimmed non homogenized milk might be unpleasant to people. It is thinner sometimes and has slimy contents as well. I drank it on alms in the alpes, still warm from the cow - some people get sick from it though, guess that is why this is banned - but with a good immune system, one can drink it right as it comes from the cow - including bacteria. It has to be fresh though, because bacteria double in amount about every 20-30 minutes. Well, and with their amount as well some phages increase their amount up to 300 fold within 30 minutes - like prophage lambda or the more commonly known e coli. There is not much of a chance to eat anything without having e coli on it though.

14 Ly I think. They'd sold out of the right size.
Very reluctant to use any mats for engineering.
Once I've unlocked the engineers I'll be back in the DBX anyway.
Bit of sightseeing then back to the bubble.

Finally got my DBX flyable with the big motors and just when you think everything is easy from that point... the price of that 4A fuel scoop pokes you in the eye.

Well I made it to "my" system, and successfully mapped everything, so that I have First Discovered and First Mapped on all the bodies (there's only 9).

The system is DRYOOE FLYOU LK-B C28-66. It's a little nothing system about 500LY from Colonia. There's nothing remarkable about it except that it was the very first Earthlike I ever discovered -- a couple years ago now, I think. I was so excited at the time that I went ahead and scanned everything in the system, just so only my name would be on it.

So, now that we can also map stuff I figured I'd get out there and put my name on everything again :) I'll always think of it as "Codger's System." Maybe my commander can retire on that pretty blue planet one day :D

Now that that's done, I'm heading out farther, just exploring for a while. Maybe I'll get lucky and get my name in the Codex (yeah, I know, unlikely...but...maybe). And I will definitely see some interesting things and have a lot of fun.

Stay frosty, everyone! The new year is right around the corner!

One day when we get atmospheric planet landings you can take one of the large ships out there an land it permanently. Can you do that with multi-crew? Have a friend fly it and land it and then get in your ship to fly back? Dunno how that works.

Mission accomplished, time to head for home.
Engineers unlocked and maxed, tourist sites visited.
Krait mothballed, DBX fuelled, suitcases packed.
Ray Gateway here I come![yesnod]

I have to admit I panicked when I saw that picture. It’s almost identical to my first ELW system and pretty close in terms of location too. I’m heading out tonight to go and map it for the full house before landing at Colonia and throwing silly money at bringing my Orca out there.

P.S. Thanks for the heads up re price Bob. I think I’m getting itchy feet waiting for DW2 to begin so both my primary and alt accounts are sitting in the Bubble at the moment, time to keep the alt ready for the big trip and do a quick whizz out with Rock Hunter.

My alt made it to 11% expert so far, but that's where it slows to a crawl.
Getting that dangerous combat rank before DW2 seems fairly unlikely given my progress thus far and my expected time constraints.

I have not given up that said, nor decided on a ship to take for that matter.

:D

Is there a topic or forum or some place to go that spells out how DW2 actually works? All I know so far is they will have different "teams" set up match your time zone and you need at least a 35ly jump range ship and where they are heading. Oh, and they would like folks to do more than just go... repair, fuel, photography.. etc. Beyond that I'm without a clue.

Here's the main post about it: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/452358-Distant-Worlds-2-A-Journey-of-Discovery
