Actually made it to Shin'Dez' and bought that DBX I've been banging on about for several days! Jumped about 70ly outside the bubble, literally second system I found myself a methane moon with no footfalls. Quickly remedied that, especially because I hadn't seen a methane atmosphere before.
And yes, it is still absurdly easy to tag a planet that isn't very far away. Get out of your ships and use your legs!

(Maybe the lesson here is it's actually the console crowd who get most tags?)
Bit of a mix on the engineering front. This is mostly A rated, particularly thrusters and powerplant, because wow, this little buddy is so manoeuvrable vs my iClipper. I had forgotten how quickly a small ship can stop. A rated thrusters on a big ship are nothing remotely close to A rated thrusters on a little one. D rated life support, only 1 laser (I'm not even sure why I have that), plenty of boost capacity, and a thermally resistant shield booster that weighs more than the D rated shield generator. Possibly because with a ship this agile, I am absolutely going to smack into something at high speed at some point - and if it gets attacked, NPCs will absolutely hit it with lasers first, and it shrugs those off.
Still has a nice 69ly jump range. That'll do, donkey
I have painted it green and named it the Kobold Bard, for reasons literally nobody but about 10 people on this beautiful grassy green earth will understand.
Anyway, despite it's convenient mud flats, the first moon was a pita to find the requisite 3x bacteria on, but thankfully it also has 2 sisters with methane atmospheres. The first was very compliant, rapidly delivering the bio data I was after with no particular effort.
Lovely white snow too. Like an idiot I failed to screenshot the beautiful footprints I was leaving. Sadge.
Meanwhile the third moon is... it is... it is green. Apparently this is the colour of methane, since I know for a fact green stars cannot exist in our universe.
Overall, I love the DBX's flight handling, even in supercruise, but I have concerns about it's single SRV bay and lack of self repair systems. It'll be absolutely amazing for near-bubble footfalling, but I'm a bit scared to take it deeper into the black. Feel like I need to kit out my Phantom with some top notch thrusters and PP, and see how that performs. Maybe it will be a happy medium of capability and manoeuvrability.
Oh, also, slowly creeping up the exobiology ranks!
This actually feels like it might be one of the faster grinds. Very low pay for the hours, but the ranks are coming in pretty well.
