Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

That isn't a cobra lol
It would have been better if we got this. (Rainbow Agama)

Boreal animal pack?
Cold animal pack?
Polar animal pack?
Taiga animal pack?
Chilly animal pack? 😅
Boreal is actually a pretty good name to combine taiga and tundra.
I really hope for a Highlands / Mountains animal pack for the winter - there is a lot of potential for some good additions there.

One animal that I'd really enjoy that would fit into this pack would be the Chilean flamingo - they live in the southern part of South America, and live up to 4,500m up in the Andes. They also have the advantages of being another South American species, a more traditionally pink flamingo (compared to the mostly white greater flamingo), being a very easy reskin species and they are also in the top two most common flamingo species kept in both European and North American zoos.

Question is, would anyone else be happy getting the Chilean flamingo in a mountainous-themed pack?

Chilean is my favourite pick for a second flamingo species, I don't badly need a second flamingo species but honestly I'd quite like to see both Chilean and Caribbean in the game so we have a nice colour gradient from white to pink to red. Even the other three species are cool in their own ways, Lesser is quite a bit smaller and would be nice to see to the Greater in that regard and the Andean and Puna have a pretty distinct appearance.

Any underrated animals you feel should be or would be a cool addition to a Highlands Animal Pack?
Tahr could be cool alternative for Asian Caprid, if they could do it's majestic mane justice. They're also introduced to South Africa, Table Mountain and not sure if also in either NZ or Australia

Yeah I did see the tahr mentioned a couple times, they’re a really cool animal, almost like a knockoff Markhor lol. Do you know if they are common in captivity?
Himalayan tahr are (or have been) in a lot of zoos around the world. North America, Europe, Japan, Singapore, etc.

Some of the other tahr species are less common in captivity. Nilgiri tahr does not seem to be in any zoos but represents an extremely underrated tropical montane ecosystem in southern India (the Western Ghats). That’s the home turf of my most wanted animal (lion-tailed macaque) but I don’t see a highland pack containing too many tropical montane species, and even any slots that those get would probably be best used for Andes / New Guinea.

They're in New Zealand, but not kept in any zoos here (not actually sure why). They're one of those pesky species that we should be eradicating but instead we're just "managing" because there's a lot of social crossover between farmers/hunters and both tend to be opposed to any sort of pro-environment legislation (especially farmers, with their hero-complex).

Taronga Zoo in Sydney used to keep a herd of Himalayan tahr as well. Not sure if they still do or not (their website doesn't seem to cover their whole collection like it used to).

I think it's better if it is called Mountains Animal Pack.
Also, I think the Blue Monkey.

My roster:

Mountains Pack:
  1. Yak.
  2. Spectacled Bear.
  3. Siamese Crocodile.
  4. Indian Leopard.
  5. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey.
  6. Blue Monkey.
  7. Blue Winged Teal.
  8. Black Mamba [E].
  9. Green Winged Macaw [WE].
  10. Great horned Owl [WE].

Something I think is being underrated in potential highlands pack discussion is the golden snub-nosed monkey. NOT in place of a baboon species, but as a mutual addition in the somewhat nebulous seventh slot. They're cute, they've gone viral a few times, they'd help represent East Asia which could use a few more species. They're kept in a number of zoos throughout Asia, and from my understanding the fact that they aren't kept in Western zoos is predominantly due more to Chinese relations issues than not doing well in captivity- Los Angeles was supposed to receive 3 in 2009, for instance, but China reneged.
I've seen it mentioned semi frequently enough to think its more likely than a gelada or baboon (much to my sadness. ) it's also popular in pop culture

All animals have been either southern hemisphere or warm biomes.
Think they will give us northern colder or they gonna do another warm dlc?
Maybe it’s a sign that next year will be all northern colder dlcs?

Okay say for a minute that Frontier is planning 4 DLC next year too.

What does everyone think the chances are that Frontier will "wrap up" the southern hemisphere this year with the anniversary and December DLC, and then "wrap up" the northern hemisphere next year?

I say wrap up to mean complete in their eyes
