Winter DLC Speculation

I agree completely. On an unrelated note, should sloths be habitat animals or walkthrough exhibits?
In my Opinion Sloths belong in Walkthrough Exhibits unless Frontier manages to actually let them only climb down to poop like they do in Real Life. Food and Water Bowls can be attached directly to Branches like the ones you can get for Parrots. Trees could be connected with Ropes and similar Objects. Even though I would be fine with them being in a Exhibit, they would still be better for Habitats for one simple Reason: Exhibit Animals have no Baby Models. Not even the Bats😔

I have never seen a Sloth enclosure being as large as the current walktrough exhibit. It would once again look way too big for an animal like that.

Therefore I hope that sloths would be either habitat animal or that they introduce a smaller, non-walkthrouth exhibit for them.

Oh I haven't been to many zoos with sloths myself but Edinburgh Zoo and Biodomo Granada come to mind as places where sloths are holded in similar spaces as the in-game walk-through exhibits.
This being said, I reckon those might be exceptions. Either way this pretty much reinforces the idea that they should be habitat animals, which is the system that offers more flexibility (as sloth enclosures are very different/versatile irl).

The walkthrough exhibit would have to be more flexible / customisable in terms of size, door and path placement or have different layout versions with distinct animal area and guest area. But I can be patient, I am sure this is step one of many.

I would hope that if walkthrough exhibits become a more regular thing and more appear then they are put into a separate new category from regular exhibit animals like the titan beetle, and bring in baby models for species like the sloth and bat. Would be quite happy not to see grubs and maggots squirming around, but baby sloth clinging to its mum? yes please. And keepers need to do more than just 'turn up' at the exhibit - replenish feeders / water.

Now I come to think of it grooming and what I am going to call 'animal parenting' are not currently animal interactions. I hope that one day this introduced in an update one day. Nit-picking and carrying baby in arms / on back for the apes and koalas, picking the cub by the scruff of the neck and carrying it around for canines and felines. Incessant licking, cuddles, sleeping puppy piles etc.

How about a short walkthrough exhibit that is like walking through a jar of fireflies that lights up when the game switches to night.

Exhibit. Atleast it would look and behave like sloth. Additionaly we would recieve extra unique animal, because exhibit species are just exhibit species.
Seriously, i want tree sloth, not Planet Zoo reincarnation of giant ground sloth. Just imagine all hilarious animations: mating, fightng, eating, drinking, running.
It would look like this in game.

😂 And I thought the Giant Anteater would be the closest to a Giant Ground Sloth we would get

Well Edinburgh is more similar to a walkthrough habitat rather than an exhibit. The path is like a L shape indoors where you have the sloth on one side and armadillo on the other. All you need is null barriers for that to work

Was so confused when a Friend mentioned that she has a Hare as a Pet and I asked if she means a Rabbit. She insisted that it is a Hare and of course on the Picture was a Rabbit.
Also heard once that Hares are hard to keep in Zoos (at least the european ones) but at least some Zoos seem to keep European Hares though. But even though I would be fine with either a Hare or a Rabbit, I would prefer the Rabbit a bit more because you can also have Groups of them just living outside of the Enclosures and if Frontier would ever start to include Animals that almost look the same in one Pack (Reskin of course additional to the other Animals) we would have the Chance to also get domesticated Rabbits which could be kept in Petting Zoos for which we definitely still need new Animals. Don't know if European Rabbits would be suitable for Petting Zoos or not. Does someone know if they are kept in a Petting Zoo somewhere instead of the domesticated ones?
It's extremely unlikely that anyone has a pet hare. However, there is a breed of rabbit - Belgian hares - that's been bred to resemble a hare. Definitely still domestic rabbits though:

European hares do like to hang out in loose groups and sometimes feed together, they're not aggressively solitary.

Wild European rabbits are absolutely not suitable for a petting zoo; they're very easily frightened so would retreat into burrows, and would probably die of shock if they weren't able to hide. Not to mention that if they do decide to go fight over flight, like if someone tried to pick one up, they can be quite ferocious little animals with those powerful hind legs, surprisingly sharp claws, and a strong pair of teeth just like their rodent cousins.

In case of sloths the Forum seems to be divided. I hope that we get it as a normal Habitat animal if we should get it. The walk through exhibit for me is at the moment something to introduce flying animals to the game as free flying could not work so good perhaps. This will stay my opinion until Frontier proofs me to be wrong 😀.

Walkthrough exhibit. They would be perfect for it, as they can do very slow loops that will look really nice, and we won't need to bother with food and water dishes. Sloths would not work as a habitat animal imo.

Walkthrough exhibit, personally speaking. Almost all sloth exhibits I have seen are variations on the same design - a few vertical posts supporting a lot of horizontal branches or ropes. Having that simple setup, with some further options to customise it (say, a couple of nest boxes, feeding tables and some further ropes or vines) would be much better than having sloths running around on the ground most of the time.

Here are a collection of pictures, from different zoos and in different settings, that all show that same basic design:

For sloths, Frontier should adopt the hybrid model I've spoken of before. Make them both. Those who want to build habitats for them can do so, those who would prefer to chuck them in walkthrough exhibits can also do so.
But Walkthrough exhibits already allow "habitats". Just set the walls to null and build around it.

I'd love a mixed Species Exhibit with Green Iguanas and Two Toed Sloths. Sad that this might never be possible
